  1. Looks like a Mercury Capri from the 70's. My guess is that car is a Ford from Australia
  2. Kind of the same idea with the older version. http://www.desertzassociation.com/membersrides/Robert/75z/pic/pic1.jpg PS. I no longer have that hood though. : )
  3. The black primer car is running Motorsports lowering springs, the V8 car has GC coilovers. The black car is nearing completion, it will have a much more stealth look when completed. It now has my SS style hood and a modified MSA type II aero front.
  4. I am running 215 45 17 and 225 45 17 on 17X7 wheels zero offset. http://www.desertzassociation.com/membersrides/Robert/75z/picpage/page8.htm
  5. I just let them go down the path, year? 75, make? Datsun, umm Nissan, model? 280Z. what part? spark plugs, how many? 8, and BTW they need to be for a early 70's chevy 350 V8 : ) backspace, snicker, backspace, snicker, backspace...
  6. Excellent write up! Thanks for the info, I now know I need to budget more time for my install. Do you have the part number and company link for the welting? The car looks GREAT!
  7. Mat, I'll take them, any chance of getting a big one? thanks

  9. try turning the steering wheel hard to the right to the first "clunk" then try to turn the key. If that doesn't work try the same thing to the left and then try the key. I have had this happen before and sometimes that pin can really get wedged in. Rember you are dealing with wear and tear of 30 years or so and it might take a little finessing.
  10. I wouldn't let that mechanic near the car either. Also try turning the steering wheel a bit it might have the steering lock pin under pressure not allowing it to release.
  11. My cowl vents are filled too, I agree there should be plenty of air entering but it won't be as cool as the stock configuration. I even filled int he wiper holes, thank goodness for rainX.

I was able to watch the race again since Speed usually repeats stuff here. I must say after all of the turmoil that has taken place I was glad to see us/Hybrid represented well and enjoyed seeing hte car going down the track. I don't know if you noticed but we had that MonteCarlo guy shaking! LOL
  13. There are 2, the one you found and one back in the fuel pump inlet.
  14. That is not quite like mine. The blue one appears to be a modified rear hatch. Mine is all fiberglass.
  15. I can't see the picture but would bet it is the Pantera rear deck. Let me know if you are interested in one.
  16. Wow, and I have a set of those around here somewhere!
  17. Maybe start a tend with these types of videos! I had a hard time viewing it because it was so choppy but I think I need a faster computer.
  18. I have the harbor freight model and it works great for my needs. Mostly checkng radiator temps, thermostat temps, head temp differences, House A/C output. It may not be all that accurate but like I said it seems to work perfect for me.
  19. I will probably paint mine a color close to that as well. I painted my Chevelle the "copperhead" color from the trucks show and have enough left over for the Z.
  20. I run the MSD6AL on my V8 car and will be installing one on the turbo car as well. The MSD's come with detailed wiring schematics. I also have some "extra" coils, 2 Allisons. I am not sure how well it might help with emissions though.
  21. And it sounds like you are on the right track. I'd loose the rear bumber, remove side moulding, lower it and use the clear headlight covers. Smoked is a bit 70's ish IMO
  22. I have one of the original ones that I bought several years ago. I am not sure who the original manufacturer was. The install requires using the hinge tabs from the original hatch. The latch also requires some work. I also know the onwer of the car in the thread above. He got his from Dave at Arizona Z car who made molds from the one I have. But I don't think Dave sells them anymore.
  23. I agree to using the correct part when available, but I think a cotter pin vs nail I'd trust my life to the nail. However for ease of future removal I would go back to a cotter pin.
