  1. Being a Toyota truck fan I have seen this one coming for a couple of years. I actually got to se two in person at SEMA. Since I am a bit over average height I wanted to sit in one and got a chance while I was there. I found it to be very comfortable. After they have been out a couple of years it might end up on my shopping list.
  2. I kind of like the back but the front looks like buck teeth.
  3. A buddy of mine DMSV8 bought an ebay kit for about that price and we were very impressed. I would go with that if I need one.
  4. I have been fighting an over rich problem for days now. Ran all of the diagnostics in the service manual and suspected the head temperature sender so I bypassed it by running straight wire across the connector leads. My thoughts was this would equal zero resistance so it should equal normal operating temperature resistance. I have two air/fuel gauges and can see the rich condition creeping up and the temperature rises. Fuel pressure gauge reads right about 38 psi, have vacuum activated AeroQuip fuel pressure regulator and seems to be working perfect when revving engine. Revving engine shows a momentary drop to decent Air/Fuel mixture but when back to idle richness returns? This is a 81 stock rebuilt turbo engine swapped into a 75 280. I have searched and only found one other person with this problem but no solution was posted. I have emailed other poster but it was a very old post. What could I be missing?
  5. I sell this one. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=101130
  6. I don't think 1 fast Z is going to have much of a problem with his spindle pins. Full machine shop at his disposal and a fiance for the hard stuff.
  7. Just wondering how wide you thought would be correct. So your comment/opinion is that the tire width doesn't match the fender width rather than the tires should be wider. You can have what ever opinion you want, I couldn't care less, I just wasn't clear what it was.
  8. I ain't skared of no gto bodied supercharged bigole honking engine stickin out tha hood drag car. I say bring that fancy blown street car to the track:) Yes, I said street car, I understand his ultimate goal is to get this car street legal as well as being a damn fast drag car. Bigger rims/wheels/tires???? How big are yours?
  9. Trying to follow the "youdamnfool..." instructions were not helping me either. I had to step away a couple of times and re-think was I was doing. During my trials several people told me to NOT hook up the ignitor in reverse because it would fry it. Is it possible you miswired it wrong during trying things? There is a recent post here somewhere that discusses testing the ignitor. Have you checked that thread?
  10. If it is getting real hot you have something wrong. I have heard of the coil actually blowing up when wired wrong. It looks like you have the coil and ignotor wired correctly. Is your 12volt source to the coil switched or constant?
  11. The stuff you guys have to start with sure makes the project harder. Wish you the best.
  12. Not to mention wide tires. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=6566&cat=500&perpage=24&ppuser=13014
  13. Happened to check the AFM connection after I posted and found it was a bit loose. I think I might be getting close now: )
  14. I spent the better part of last night searching this topic. I just swapped in an 81 turbo engine into my 75 and got it wired good enough to start and run. However it is running very rich, so rich it won't even idler and revs rough. Most opinions I found last night pointed to the water temp sensor, so I attacked that first. I replaced the connector, pulled out the sensor and cleaned all corrosion off of it and test continuity, all seemed fine. When the car is running I can disconnect the wire and no change happens. So I attempted to find where this wire goes. I can't seem top find the other end to test wire continuity. Does anyone know where that wire goes? From the factory wiring diagram it seems to only be a activator switch for the injector fan (which I don't have) but I can't find where that wire comes back out of the harness. Am I on the right track or am I missing something else that could be causing rich condition?
  15. Just because of the number of holes to fill on the 75.
  16. I also welded (actaully had a friend do it) in panels from the rear to fill the holes. Big mistake doing this to a 75 model. I think they have the most holes of all of the early gens. Here are in progress shots; http://www.desertzassociation.com/membersrides/Robert/75z/index.shtml The "paint" is a catalyzied primer. I will run it like this until I have more funds in my paint budget.
  17. But am clear on the otherside of town. Speedwolrd is about an hour from me and Firebird is only 15 minutes. When are you going maybe able to fit it into the schedule if a Z will be there. Mine isn't quite track ready though.
  18. From where you are located that car looks good. My only question why the picture looking into the rear hatch just misses the rear hatch shelf. Either way it can be fixed.
  19. Welcome aboard, you are in luck. I know of several (about 7 that I know of) V8 swapped cars here in the valley. I have both a V8 swap and a turbo swap. I agree with Silicone and have a goal in mind to start with then research research research.
  20. I get satisfaction of being able to accomplish most anything I need to by my self. However is is nice to have some healthy competition every once in awhile to keep the motivation going. I have managed to drop and install my own engines and transmissions with just a little determination. I've tried the Club thing, and even started one locally with a handful of hands on guys, but it quickly turned into a place for some attempt to turn a profit or others that were only interested in where the next food run would be to. So I "work it out" by dealing/working with people that are as independent as I am.
  21. I had one of those kits (not installed on a car) and the gas door opening was just an opening. As with most body kits it takes a little bit of fabrication for your specific needs.
  22. I'd try borrowing a 650 from someone and try that. Next I would modify the mechanical secondaries so they are not kicking in too soon. Most common mistake of most people is to over carburate their engine.
