  1. http://www.adv1wheels.com/blog/1978-datsun-280z-project-2adz-1/ If it's been mentioned here already forgive me.
  2. I welded my v bands on before install and had them ceramic coated. Installed engine, installed headers, built exhaust. No problem. Using the JCI stuff as well. Also in regard to v-bands, buy good ones like Vibrant. Expensive yes but you'll be happy you did.
  3. What about these? https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=12801&utm_source=201504-2&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=201504-2
  4. Passenger side needs clearance for sure for trans coolan lines, plugs, right corner of the pan and the servo. Although the servo may not come out with the trans in the car. I just got mine on the road and it's a funny car to drive. It feels like the engine is just dragging the body along for the ride. AND, tuck your exhaust as far as you get it, ask me how I know...
  5. As the tile says. No fiberglass. Needs to be in great shape. Thanks!
  6. Awesome idea! And those things are inexpensive!
  7. Just got my 2005 (per-Probax) Lotus Elise seats I'll be installing in my 75 280. These have one set of mounting points on the bottom, and one on each side. I'll be making a bracket that will allow me to use the factory sliders. Should be good. They need a bit of re conditioning which I'll address as well but can't wait to see them installed. Looks like I'll have a nice seat of factory seats for sale! Has anyone seen these in a Z car yet? I know the Miata guys are crazy for these.
  8. Curious to know how this was handled by others with 4l60E's. This is the wire that tells the PCM if the car P or N. I'm using a stock Camaro floor shifter and wonder if I can wire this to the switch on the side, or the plunger looking thing toward the front, or if I need to put the OE switch on the outside of the trans at the shift linkage. Thanks!
  9. Agreed $500 is ALWAYS epic. I'd say if the budget was close to what this cost, the word "epic" could used. This car was offered for sale for $399K. I don't think they were looking at much, if any profit when sold. If you put these resources into a Z (or any car) it would be epic.
  10. False alarm. Employee car that has been sitting for months.
  11. True. Not to discredit ANY builds here as many have been inspiration for my own build. My "epic" was in regard to budget (and the things that can be done with big money that accompanies their wrok), fit, finish, design, new thinking from someone outside the Z world, etc. One cannot deny the quality and absolute attention to detail that comes from that place. Should be a breath of fresh air, IF they are indeed building one. Again, not taking anything away from anyone.
  12. I aksed on their Instagram page. Hopefully they'll cough up some pics/info.
  13. After looking at the Rampage Camaro build thread, my buddy found a Z sitting in the Roadster Shop. Towards the back, last car in the row. This could be the first truely epic Z build. Most likely LS powered I would imagine. Here is the link where it was found. Also check out there site. A real source of inspiriation.
  14. Any love for the SPA mirror? https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=5116&utm_souce=Google&utm_medium=CSE&utm_term=30225&utm_campaign=CSE&gdftrk=gdfV25409_a_7c2692_a_7c10048_a_7c30225&gclid=COCNzeHzsMQCFS1o7AodrhAA5A
  15. Not to rain on your parade, but at 555mm these may not fit (too wide). I had Sparcos that were 495mm and they were pressed against the window pillar.
  16. This may help: http://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-tires/1094692-reverse-barrel-wheel.html
  17. Anyone seen this yet? Custom widths, offsets, finishes, etc. Custom wheel from American Racing. Looks like a good new modern look for the S30. Cast center, forged barrel. This may be my next weel. 16x8 in the finish shown is $332. That's a bargain for a custom wheel. VN477680XX - STD 16x8 4 or 5 100mm - 130mm -25mm to +29mm 3.5in. to 5.63in. STANDARD $332.25 More here: http://www.customwheelsexpress.com/custom-wheels-by-brand-american-racing-vintage-pc-american-racing-vn477-polished-custom-wheels-rims-p-2392.html
  18. These guys do as well. I got 5th gear replacemnet parts here. The 5th gear fiber ring (?) is no longer available, there is a brass replacement and these guys know what correct parts you need. http://www.midwesttrans.com/
  19. I was wrong. The JTR driver side header cleared, the passenger side did not. I went back to the JCI mounts considering I already had the JTR headers and that combo works. Swap is nearly complete, tried to start it last night but had a bad injector leak so waiting to get some new o-rings and trying again hopefully tonight.
  20. Look like Club mirrors from Pegasus Racing.
