  1. Well I'm going the bandwagon, trying to use HEI is becoming a huge pain in the ass and doesn't make anysense when i have a V3 board. I'm re soldering today to fire off the VB921 driver.
  2. I guess my 024 is almost classic now lol time to upgrade. EDIT Mario... that link is for MS2. I thought MS2 and MS1 could not run the same code. ?
  3. are you refering to 029 code? I saw last night that MS2 can run MSnSE code and that has a tach output, didn't know the 029 for MS1 had it aswell... my bad. I'll take a peak at your circuitry.
  4. I was lookn' in vic british, or Black Dragon now and piston set is only 250 for rings, pistons, pins, buttons. The works. I'll have to look and see how much it'll drop my compression but I think that will be the easier route. -Ed
  5. Sep29th I'll be heading down to Galveston for a beach meet, If I don't make it your way before then I'll defn' hit you up at that time. I'll take that tranny off your hands too if ya still got it lol.
  6. Yeah i've been wondering about adjusting those two pots as well. I have a scope, but not quite sure how to "tune" them.
  7. When you run COP/ wasted spark... where do you get your tach from? as in... signal for the in car tach. -Ed
  8. Olie... are you triggering of the VR on the stock dizzy?
  9. It depends on if you used enamel or lacquer. enamel.. your fine. Lacquer... your screwed. You can try and use a sealing epoxy primer but from my experience these always fail, it's just a matter of how long before it bleeds through. But hey.. before we get all negative... do a test spot, you'll be able to tell very quickly if it's enamel or not. You'll see spider web type of reaction and crinkleing.. all sorts of fun if it's not. ALSO... Alot of places WON"T ship hazardous material to cali, paint sometimes falls into that category. Just FYI.
  10. I know us 2+2 guys are far and few between. I was planning on redoing my door panels as the look is just old, trying to make the interior look as new as the exterior, styling wise. At anyrate... would you be interested in even doing 2+2 panels? Not sure if this is a hobby for you or turning into a Job. Just let me know via PM or email me. I realize you'd have to have a donor set IF you even want to consider doing these. I could take some dig pics of mine, I believe they are water damage free, I'll have to pull them and check. At anyrate, let me know. Edhenkel@gmail.com
  11. Ok, I'll have to take a peak at your notes and then double check my wiring. I just went off of the MSnSE site.
  12. looks like what mine was doing with my HEI module... hmmmm Yeah i still haven't fixed it yet Olie. I found my pickup went out on my dizzy, put in a new one and haven't gotten to test again since then. Should get to work on it some tomorrow possibly. -Ed
  13. I believe we are just going to mod the Dist to use a hall sensor from a maxima dist and trigger with that. then run wasted spark and coil packs.
  14. We are starting the 911 MS project, We are trying to use 6 COP with 6 VB921 to drive each individual coil, although we might have to resort to wasted spark and run 3 VB921. Anyway.... 911 the motor is in the rear and the ECU is under the driver. Does anybody forsee a problem with moving the MAP sensor from on the board to closer to the engine for a shorter vacumn line and less pressure drop. Basically running wires off the board to the sensor.
  15. Let me know what you guys think as I plan to buy a custom pair of these for my Z once i swap the rear end.
  16. so i'm better off sourcing pistons from a turbo motor? or will the N/A N42 pistons hold up to 15psi?
  17. well the consensus on here is usually get a turbo block, refresh it and build away. My problem is... i have the turbo F54 block, with all N/A internals that is sitting in my garage waiting for me to replace the rings. I'm trying to research and see if the only difference between the N/A pistons and the turbo pistons is a larger dish or if the rings located differently, etc.
  18. sorry to bump such an old thread but I'm planning on using my N/A built motor inside and F54 block to go turbo.
  19. wow... that's crazy. Looking forward to seeing the completed paint pictures once it's all back together. That's defn' a one of a kind ride!
  20. WOAH...that hood is REALLy tappered.... what do you have on the front of that Z?! last time i checked my hood looked like a big rectangle.
  21. I'm not sure what your calling a stable tach display since the car doesnt run or start. all I can see is cranking rpm.. and well i wouldn't call that stable as it jumps around while cranking, however I feel confident with the new pickup my VR signal will be MUCH better. I'm gonna make sure the dizzy didn't get 180deg off while messing with it so much. I figured i could use a compression gauge on #1 and crank it by hand until i see compression, then it should be lined up TDC on compression stroke. Trying to avoid taking off the valve cover. At anyrate... here is the wiring for the 8pin HEI *******______ *******|HHHH|-Power *******|HHHH|-IGN (goes to neg on coil) *******|HHHH| *******|HHHH| *******|HHHH|-Ground *******|HHHH|-IAC-A on the MS loom VR sig P-|HHHH|-IGN to MS VR sig N-|HHHH|-IAC-A on MS loom pin 3&4 IAC-A are two different wires going into the MS not the same wire.
