  1. I don't see how putting the loop in is any different than running the car with the heater on, it's doing the same thing. Back in the dayz, i used to turn my heater on to cool the engine off when sitting in houston traffic, so if anything I would guess this would cool the engine. -Ed
  2. Olie keep me in mind for it, not lookn' to spend much at all. Yes i was looking at old bimmers, but the parts there are just as expensive as porsche parts... and seeing what my dad pays in parts for his 911 makes my stomach curl. Mr2's are grea i love them, but i don't think 2 sports cars is a good idea lol. -Ed
  3. Yes and no Olie. Even if i put the 1k into the Z it's still going to break at some point and then what? I keep moving farther away from friends and family and I'm not going to be able to use their driveways as shops pretty soon. Also... insuring two cars is cheaper than Just the Z and i can put it on classic car insurance. Yeah i didn't want to buy a cheap laptop just to mess with MS. I do computer programming on the side and if i get a laptop it's going to be a nice one that i can actually do work on. However, I did get a palm and my cable is supposed to arrive the 10th so tomorrow. But yes, I opened the thread to see what other "fun" cheap cars were out there as the 240 sx is going to skyrocket in value as soon as FAST and FURIOUS 3 comes out.. sigh. I think i've worked a deal out to rebuild one of my mom's cars and the money i spend doing that will be a downpayment for a 93 maxima she has... well see how that goes. At anyrate thanx for the ideas. And if you see me drivn' a CRX hatchback... please don't laugh College and my Z take all my money. -Ed
  4. well then for some crazy reason both my blocks, F54 and N47 have the oil fitting hole that a metric bolt screws into very smoothly. -Ed
  5. no it will not. This is how i paint all my hoods usually. To be honest... I actually hung mind from the celing so i could paint both sides on my first hood. It's kinda tricky cause you tend to want to paint the top first... which you can... but if you don't tape if off when it's dry.. then when you paint the back... you get overspray on the front again. You can paint it all at once... or paint the back first... let it dry up a little... paint the top... then the clear doesn't matter as much because the PPG DBU/DBC clear you using levles out pretty good as long as you give a wet coat. -Ed
  6. Yes, the resin over the top would help, however then you have to sand the resin down somehow.. kinda eliminates the point. Even doing that will only prolong it.. not fix the problem. I learned this first hand the hard way. Using body fillers as mentioned is ok... just be sure to use either professional grade or boat (marine) quality products. About 90% of marine products are waterproof for obvious reasons. That is what i use now, they cost more... but they last. I'd say depending on how much you drive that car in the rain... in about a year.. your gonna be able to pick at it with a screwdriver and pop out chunks of bondo. Try to get a better paint to seal it instead of rattle can... that will help. -Ed
  7. Ahh... the beloved Porsche... my dream car. Maybe in a couple years if my realestate company takes off. Till then I don't even have 2k for a car Thanx though bill.... That car is a steal at 10k.
  8. looks really good.. you should be ready to tackle the car... just remember to keep a wet edge.. and you'll probably find the hood and roof are the hardest pieces to paint as a beginner. Just go steady and take your time like you did that bay and it should come out looking like a winner. -Ed
  9. AHH!!!!! Bondo!!! Big NO NO!! The fiberglass from Bondo is ok as it's waterproof.. but the filler is not. You will have an absolute nightmare of the next 2-4 years depending on the humidity and how much it rains where you live. The bondo will absorb any moisture.. it will slowly expand, peel off from the body, caust rust behind in the crevice.. bubble your paint with water bubbles... oh it's just nasty... Sorry to be a downer here... best thing to do is seal it up REALLY well and you might get lucky. -Ed
  10. I was fortunate enough to get one. Now i just have to learn how to use it properly. -Ed
  11. or for those of us that live in TX it's still legal in Mexico.... -Ed
  12. yeah hondas are good and fun, no doubt, i just can't afford anything that new (90's) 94 civics are still going for like 5k!! I've been lookn' at get a 240sx for a LONG time and that's kinda the way i was leaning, but i was tryn' to scrounge up some other ideas. I'll look into corrola and camry pricing i guess as well. -Ed
  13. I asked this same queston a couple weeks ago it's an M10x1.75 i believe fine thread metric -Ed
  14. hey mike, i'll throw some money at ya for that sparco seat when the time comes to remove it. -Ed
  15. Didn't quite know where to post this. So i figured it's Misc but not so much technical, moderators, feel free to move it where you see best fit. My Z is too unreliable which is kind of expected for a just about 30 year old car. I don't have the money to keep dumping into this car month after month, I've been dumping money into it for 7 years now, and it seems to no end. I need a daily driver something with cheap parts, fairly fun to drive and dirt cheap price. Any ideas? I've been looking at old hondas and nissans like 70's hondas and 80's nissans. Just curious as to some thoughts. I guess I should mention decent gas milege is important. -Ed
  16. Yeah I can go look at at the wires when i get home... i'm at work now.. i'll post it back to ya when i'm on the computer later. you need the 280 colors right? -Ed
  17. lol go get her dirty! -Ed Very NIcely Done
  18. Well Great news!!! I just an oscilliscope in the mail today!!! This should help alot in examing the signals to the MS. Also assembled the thermo housing with new sensors. Should have it up and running tomorrow or Sunday. -Ed
  19. sounds like proxlamus's setup ...with the 300zx watercooled turbo. -Ed
  20. stick a voltmeter into it and see if it has power. If it does... start pulling fuses till it doesn't, that should limit your search considerably if everything is wired stock as you imply it is. but yellow and green makes me think a gauge. most power wires are red and white. -Ed
  21. Well yesterday I spent the better part of it splicing out about 4' of wire from the MS harness so it's not just laying on my floor board in coils. While doing so i tested everywire to verify what it was and labeled it with a number system. Then i have a book with the numbers says what the wire is and what pin it is on the DB37 connector. Anyway I found 2 ground wires that i don't believe were previously hooked up. Also got the thermo. housing back from the machine shop today. 13.50 w/tax shoulda done that a long time ago. Pickn' up the new sensor tonight from O'Reillys. -Ed
  22. Olie I think you should take into consideration how much it freakn' rains here, And there arn't a whole lot of good rain tires in a 14 from my personal experience. And the yoko's ES100 is what's on the front of mine now, and they are absolutely HORRIBLE in the rain. Just a thought man, I know mine likes to get tail happy when it's wet here. -Ed
  23. you can also tune it with a palm or PDA, what other stand alone can you do that with?!?
  24. Go PDA and get the WB. I'm in the process of doing this as well as it's a small nightmare to try and borrow the G/F's laptop everytime I want to tune or check something. -Ed
