  1. No real world experience on them yet (That wont be for awhile, sadly) but heres how mines sitting during the middle of having my flares installed
  2. Apologize for the small side of spam, but I couldnt resist.
  3. I was always under the impression the standard valving on most readily available shocks left a fair bit to be desired.
  4. Not all coilovers have adjustable bound/rebound settings on the dampeners, nor do they all have adjustable preload for their springs. Its hard to say these tuning-aspects are "points" of a coilover, when not all coilovers have one of these capabilities, if any (other than ride height). The ability to adjust the dampening is a result of having an adjustable dampner, not a result of having a coilover. Mind you most coilovers have adjustable dampeners, but this is typically because its desirable to be able to adjust the dampening in a car you want to set up to drive like you like (or because its mad jay dee em tyte hellaz flush koolade- or whatever kids say these days), but that said not all coilovers have adjustable dampening. Plenty of guys run around with single set, non adjustable, revalved to their liking shocks. Similarly the ability to adjust preload isnt the result of having a coilover. Its the result of having a strut with a threaded shock housing and separate locking plates that allow you to clamp down the springs and set/adjust preload on them. Not all coilovers have this capability- But are still coilovers. A "coilover", for anyone that i've ever talked to in my years of dealing with and modifying cars professionally, is just a term applied to a device that has an adjustable perch of sorts for the spring that allows you to adjust the ride height of the car. Nothing more. Nothing less. Sure some have more bells and whistles, but in the end, to my knowledge, the point of a "coilover" itself is in the end, to adjust ride height. But again, I readily admit that im just being anal on the topic.
  5. I wouldnt bother, I think he just used up his years supply of luck Mine was a nightmare. Lost my spindle pin puller id had in storage for a couple of years- Ended up cutting the ends off so i could remove the arm and took it to a few places. Most turned me away. Finally found one that was confident he could do it- First attempt resulted in a broken press. Tried again in the presses "bigger brother"- After a few bottles of map gas to heat it up (might be a slight exaggeration), it was left in it under pressure for a few hours. Nothing but a crushed ego on the technicians part. So whatd I do? Ended up going home and destroying my garage to find the spindle pin puller that had been misplaced by my family during some spring cleaning, and bought a new control arm. Took some loving but the puller finally did its job. Second best tool-related goodie ive bought for my Z. The first best? A very extensive set of taps/dies. Every nut/bolt i ever touch goes through them, and as a result it goes back together like new
  6. Im sure youve thought of this already, but im curious- What size tires will you be running up front? It looks like there wont be much turning-room with that set up. Very interesting and incredible fab work. Also curious- Why a mustang set up for the front/rear? How much power do you "intend" to hit? Is this a mostly "because i can" type of build, or is there more to it?
  7. Maybe im being anal but i thought the "point" of coilovers was to allow for ride-height adjustment, more specific to tne the cross-weight and corner balance of the vehicle. R3v0, the s30 is a fair bit lighter than an s13
  8. If you type in "240z fender mirrors" into google images- youll find a few of these hiding around. This one caught my eye. I've got a set myself but sadly have also not installed them yet. Cross the fingers, they should by on by march.
  9. I know this is an old bump- And a VERY "loaded" question, so be warned theres some ignorance ahead May I ask for a VERY "ballpark" starting point set up you can suggest for this? Camber, toe, caster, any rake, etc. Just something to "start with" that you feel might be "on the path" as a point to start from and go from there?
  10. Id suggest using photo bucket if you dont already have an account with them, super easy to use and its free.
  11. I know this will seem pretty trivial, but does anyone have a set of nuts that mount the r200 to the mustache bar laying around they can sell? Or if anyone has the measurements of the threads, i can use that to get some. In case someones wondering, im 7000 miles away from my car and a quick trip to the junkyard isnt a viable option for me sadly lol. As always thanks everyone. Feel free to PM me if you have a set with your price.
  12. RebekahsZ- Mind if I ask how much backspacing you have on those rims? Im already leaning towards the T3 control arms, its just a matter of time/money. This is just to hold me over.
  13. All I can find is that it limits you, but no real solid answers on how much. ive got a 72 Z with T3 adjustable TC rods and poly bushings- Anyone have a clue on how much caster I can run "safely" on a setup like this? Im HOPING for about 5-6, but not sure if this is "asking for too much"? While on caster, ive one more question ive had difficulty finding any input on. "What does it take" to actually get some good numbers of caster? It seems anywhere from 5-9 degrees is considered "good" depending on the track- But what does this actually involve? Ill be hacking away my fenders to install ZG flares- And ive got an msa type 2 (ducted) air dam. Ive got a set of 245/40 (or 50s? its late and my memory is going fuzzy, haha) on a set of the group buy konigs. Any "ball park" ideas of what I can see or hope for? Will the airdam be a concern and require trimming (i mean im sure it would depending on how much caster were talking about, but how much is that?)? ANY input on how much caster anyone was able to get, and what they had to do to get there would be super handy As always- Thanks everyone.
  14. Anyone know of a company that makes these? I might be a bit spoiled by my other car (ae86), theres a plethora of companies that sell seat brackets with built on sliders with attachments to mount the more common aftermarket seats and bolt to the factory bracket locations in the car. Does the Z have anything like this available? If so, by who? Some googling has turned up very little sadly
  15. Using an XTD stage 3 puck clutch on mine, 360 pounds of torque at my hubs from my l28et and 0 issues.
  16. Working on installing a r200 differential into my 72 Z and need to get my hands on a driveshaft. If youve got said r200 drive shaft and youre in the socal or las vegas (prefer vegas area but anywhere around socal is doable within reason as well) please let me know. Also looking for a few hard ware bits, ie the nuts/bolts for the driveshaft, looking for the 2 nuts that hold the r200 to the mustache bar (or if someone knows the thread size/pitch off hand thatd be just as useful), etc. Shoot me your price if youve anything available. As always thanks everyone.
  17. Ever heard of a Magnehelic gauge? Id strongly suggest one for what you intent to do, unless im crazy I reckon a 0-1" gauge would be sufficient for what you wanted. Would remove 100% of the "guess" work from the concept of "well i think this is a high pressure area.."
  18. This will probably end up being a huge portion of your issues.
  19. Im sure this is a silly question, but having never used a mechanical diff, Ive really got no clue. What kind of gear oil should you run with these things?
  20. Does anyone know the ID of a stock upper radiator hose? Im going to mount one of those universal "in the hose" style adapters that let you thread in a temperature probe (I know i know, not ideal. Its only temporary so i can have some gauge at my temp while making a 4+ hour drive getting the car to cali for some more work), but dont know what size I actually need. Sadly my cars half way around the world so I cant just walk into the garage and measure it :\ For anyone not sure on what im talking about: Now I did of course look online, and have seen a few parts-sites listing the stock ID at 1.38 inches- Leading me to believe I should go ahead and order up a 34mm adapter unit, BUT I've seen a few websites as well that contradicted this. So I figured id play it safe before i ordered something and see if I could get a hands-on that confirms this. Any help would be appreciated. As always- thanks everyone.
  21. Seems im running out of luck. I need to get my hands on a 240z rear passenger hub ASAP. By itself, connected to the arm still, dont care at this point. If anyone has something please let me know- You can get ahold of me at 702 505 6896.
  22. So long story short- I'm hoping to borrow a 280z (well, any driveshaft for a r200 equipped s30z) driveshaft from someone in the Las Vegas area for 1 week (until the following weekend) by this coming monday. Id like to give a refundable deposit as insurance that ill be returning it (or wost case, compensation should i manage to break the driveshaft or disappear from the face of the earth). Ive actually *got* a 280z driveshaft, but ive forgotten it back in socal, and I need a driveshaft to get my car running to get it back to socal for the week because its scheduled to be taken into a shop for some suspension work. Ill be returning with it (and my original driveshaft) next weekend (which is why I only need to borrow one for a single week). If anyone can help me out- Id GREATLY appreciate it. As always, Thanks everyone!
