  1. I was originally going to use ER80S-2, but I read somewhere on the internets that ER70S-2 was better if the end product isn't getting heat treated. I'd rather use a stronger fill rod. Scratch my earlier comment, I will use ER80S-2 because you cant believe everything you read on the internets!
  2. I don't know when you started that, but you're already further than me! Dang it I hate this weather. BTW, you could probably lose those compression arm mounts, and fab something custom up to fit your adjustable compression arms.. Check mine out, pretty simple to mount, no bushing, just bolt the bracket to something strong.
  3. I use ER316L fill rod at my house. When I build my chrome-moly tubing lower control arms. (4130) The correct fill rod to use is ER70S-2
  4. Oh wait, I just remembered the company who did that Lotus HAS molds for the 240z. Check it out, if you get prices post em up here! http://www.prototypecomposites.com/mold.asp
  5. Therese a place in Wisconsin that will. I don't even want to know the price. Here it is at Road America, Wisconsin.
  6. Yeah, that square tubing brace isn't very appealing, I'm going to build one from round tubing. Now, I'd like to create one with two mounting points on each side, so that it doesn't come out of square and create a parallelogram. Now, I know that the diff mounts to the car via some other bars, so I don't think only having 1 mounting bolt on each side of the brace will matter.
  7. Yeah a lot of people like that around the 30 US states.
  8. Oshkosh. Although I may make a bench out of it. lol. Don't fret, they're easy to make! I'd be willing to supervise.. I mean help.
  9. Yes, I also thought the compression rods looked short. No, I got them with the last 240z I bought. It wouldn't be hard to make a longer rod for them.
  10. Okay, here are some parts for my upcoming lower control arm project. And some other stuff. It's -5* right now, so working in the garage isn't a high priority on my list, but I can stock up on stuff for spring!
  11. We're not worthy!! Man, if only you were 5,500mi closer!
  12. Black primer.. lol.. sorry .. I want to paint my track car this color.
  13. The LQ9 in my 240Z has; 6.0 LQ9 Ironblock ARP rod bolts LS6 Intake TSP CNC Milled heads http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=649&catid=40 TSP MS3 Cam .600 lift http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=170&catid=44 Dual timing chains and makes 420WHP and 390Ft-lbs. Thats basically heads, cam and intake (Granted a 6.0L). I'm going to add a lightweight flywheel, because it's going in a track car but, that will negatively effect torque.
  14. I don't know what the guy is saying.. But I love what the engine is saying.
  15. I would go to a local hardware store and get some nice hardware. I don't trust much of the stuff advanced or autozone carries besides car parts/oil and name brand things. We have a place around here called Kitz and Pfeil - true value. I don't know if they have the stores by you. That's where I go if I need small amount of fasteners, because they are kind of expensive.
  16. How is the flywheel holding up. I'd like to get one for my LQ9 when it gets transplanted into the track car. What do you mean by permanently not ready to come out of the garage, what happened?
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCvqQruNMaU&feature=related Here's a few sources of info. There's a lot to learn with composites. http://www.amazon.com/Fiberglass-Other-Composite-MaterialsHP1498-AutomotiveRacing/dp/1557884986/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220041747&sr=1-2 http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/Misc/CarbonFiberHowTo1.pdf http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/Misc/CarbonFiberHowTo2.pdf http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/Misc/Fundamentals_of_Fiberglassing.pdf
  18. I use a thumb wheel at work wearing gloves. I'd prefer to use a foot pedal, but I don't have the luxury of sitting, or even being in a predictable position. Having said that, I would prefer a foot pedal. Also, a momentary switch is nice, it's almost impossible to crank the thumb wheel down quickly when finishing a pass. So you end up with goofy arc control, and more heat than you need. You can help by having your machine setup as high as it goes, so you don't have to turn up the thumb wheel as much.
  19. Thanks. I just spent 30 minutes looking for myself and my friends. I CANT FIND ME ANYWHERE! LOL, that's crazy how addicting a map could be.
  20. I'm interested in seeing some pics of the mold and process. Eye candy is what will get peoples attention. Also. How many layers of fabric, and what type of weave? Are you using polyester ,or epoxy? Is there a clear gel coat to give it some UV protection since it's on the top of the car? Also, there are some other members here that have done that, which turned out pretty neat.
