  1. ^^^ Thanks for the advice and tips! Looks like a 15/16th MC is what I'm after. The mudflaps are from MSA if I remember correctly.
  2. As above, looking for the larger bore 280zx brake master cylinder. I'm in Canada so you know and shipping really isn't that bad up here
  3. No other brake upgrades at this point. The larger bore 280zx master cylinder will increase the peddle pressure? If so, thanks, I'll source one. Jason
  4. Z pickle from the last page came from georgia...
  5. the ls1 is the easy part, getting the 30yr old car to keep up with it can be the tricky part.
  6. This is just awesome. I'm very impressed with the ingenuity to get this done at home. Very well done so far.
  7. Not sure if there has been any confirmation whether the AZC 12.2" wilwood brake upgrades fit under these wheels but they do. It's TIGHT but they clear. Pictures from the driveway. Now onto my questions. The brakes were pressure bled twice and the rears once. My peddle feel's soft. It feels like there is a lot more travel before they engage and it feels soft in comparison to the stock brakes. Thoughts on what the cause of that could be? Any input appreciated, and yes, I will repaint the grease caps
  8. i remember that episode actually. sorry to hear about the toe Jerry.
  9. IIRC the late 260 and 280's have the wider tranny tunnels that don't need to be 'massaged' to fit the trannys. I know mine didn't get beat on to fit the T56.
  10. Interesting. My T56 is HARD to get into reverse also, and I'm no weakling. My wife CAN'T get it into reverse even with bracing herself against the door (which makes me shiver every time she tries). I'll have to look at the wiring on the selonoid to see whats up with it. Thanks for the info guys!
  11. Dear lord those thigs squat! Very nice photo's! Looks like a blast!
  12. I'll have to check that out, thanks! Jason
  13. Just looking to see if anyone here with a 2+2 with a LS1 into it? I'm just wondering if the JCI mounts will work with the 2+2's? I'm also wondering if there are any other differences (other than longer driveshaft) there are between the coupe's and the longer wheelbase 2+2's for this swap? Thanks guys, just trying to see what my options are for the new car
  14. Hey guys/gals; I recently purchased (I have yet to get the car) a '74 260z 2+2. I currently have a my 280z LS1 in the garage. I have wanted to upgrade the suspension on the 280z for a while (coilovers, adjustable struts etc) but just haven't got around to it. This 2+2 has a seemingly stock suspension at this point from what I've been told/seen. What I would LOVE to be the case is that I could take my lowering springs/KYB's out of the red 280z which are still in good shape and plop them onto the 260z 2+2 along with my upgraded rear sway bar that I removed from the LS1 car. This would give me a decent start on the 260z for a nice around town cruiser and I could upgrade the red Z as I've wanted to with a clear since I can transfer parts so I feel like I'm recycling Based on my week worth of searching the early 260z's have the narrower strut tubes ala the 240z's and the late 260z will have wider strut tubes ala 280z. I never saw a mention if the same is true for the 2+2 like the coupe's. I would assume so but I HATE assuming things especially when I'm within the planning stages. IF the car is a late '74 (can't remember off hand the manufacturing date) and has the larger diameter strut tubes will my strut/spring combination swap over from the 280z? Some clarification would be awesome as I can't seem to find anything through my searching on the 2+2 to coupe interchangability. Thanks
  15. Well looks like I'm a part of this crowd now too Won't have the car in my hands for a few weeks but I feel attached already. Its a '74 260z with 139k on it, mild cam and head work, header and exhuast. Appearance stuff you can see, needs tires and a good detail as well as putting some interior stuff back together. I'm going to try to get licence plates that say "Z PICKLE" my wife thought that up.
  16. That is a beautiful house, my wife would kill for that porch. Looks like 3 bays is the way we are going for this
  17. If I could I would. The building envelope on the land will not allow me to have 3 stalls with the same depth. It was either this or I get two stalls. I chose to have two + one shorter. There are no posts in the garage.
  18. just realized I can attach some pics on here...*duh*
  19. Will forward the layout plans that I have. I do not have the structural plans yet. We are still in the design/drawing stages thankfully... we can only do a little with regards to grading as if we raise the house much we then have to add a railing onto the front porch which we want to avoid at all costs. and the doors are now said to be 9' wide x 8' tall not 10', i imagine that is due to the walls needed between the doors *insert eyeroll* Thanks edit: main floor ceilings are 9' for reference
  20. Jimbo; The doors originally were 16x8 and 10x8, now they will all be 10x8's I'm told. I don't know if that is even physically possible as the total width of the garage is 33' .... if I can keep 3 10' doors I guess thats not bad as I won't be too close for pulling in and backing out etc... where would be the best place to put the hoist? in the middle bay then most likely? Jim if you have time or were interested I could fwd you the pdf that I have of the existing layout and see what your thoughts were on this ordeal.
  21. done and done. They have them in Toronto even, unreal. Like $6/each. Should be here tomorrow even, double unreal.
  22. ok so i'm building a house, yay. Anyway, originally we had a 3 car garage, a single bay on the end and a double bay next to the house itself. The diamensions are 24.4' deep x 22' wide for the double and the single is 11.4' x 19.3' deep. Thats how I liked it as the Z got its own bay/door and the accord/civic were next to the house. I liked the idea of the double door as it makes in/out easier and less navigating etc. As per my other post I am/was wanting to do a hoist in the garage, well with the layout I can't get enough height in the garage with the double door and single door due to the placement of the load bearing beam due to the master walk-in closet being over the most inner-garage bay. GRRR They were saying that I can have the hoist in the furthest bay if we change the roof line to look like crap (to attain the needed height) as well as loosing 2' of width of the double bay (making it only 20' wide by 24.4' deep) and make the single wider, 13.4' x 19.3' (the single bay has less depth due to the shape of the building envelope). So I'd effectively have a smaller garage and a less desirable roof-line on the house. I'd also only have 2' between the lift post and the exterior wall of the last bay (read: useless space). The other option they are giving me now is to do 3 single bay doors. This keeps the same garage size 24x22 and 11x19. They say this will allow me to have 13' of height which is what is prefered for having the hoist. I'm just not sure how I feel about 3 single doors vs the double/single and how it effects the usefullness of space especially considering the hoist etc. I haven't even seen the proposed drawings yet of what the 3 doors will look like. Does anyone have an outside opinion on the functionability of 3 single doors ? Should I try to have the hoist in the furthest bay or the center? Which would make the most sense for usable space? My head is just spinning right now. ah.
