  1. if you have the original windows disc and registration key, the easiest way is to back up all your data on another hard drive or onto cd's/dvd's then pop in the windows installation disk and delete the partition that had your previous install on it, and do a quick format. then just install it onto there.
  2. you know you did create a paradox lmao! infinite boost at all RPM range!
  3. NO WAY~! you mean if I spend a LOT more money I get a faster car? (I'm sure 30k into a GT-R would make it faster than the ZR1 though)
  4. Yellow: Hey, where'd that corvette go? Grey: What corvette? Yellow: The one that was just behin....DOH
  5. Well, I discovered a few things I had mis-adjusted on my car. I had to tighten the AFM more (I noticed a glob of glue that lines up with the cog wheel) and I didn't have my timing advanced to where I had marked it. I basically put a black dot to where the timing matches almost perfectly, and totally forgot about it, checked it, and it was off. I fired it up, and even though it was still cold (and would smoke a bit due to that) it revved MUCH more freely than it did yesterday. I didn't rev it very high, and my tach is a bit sticky, but I gave it a good blip up to about 3500-4k, then let it idle. the idle sounds smoother, and the throttle respones is much nicer. HURRAY, my Z is happier.
  6. nice haha. I'm still tweaking mine trying to figure out why it seems so down on power compared to before. I did find that my water temp sensor has corrosion, so gotta clean that, and I'm not sure where exactly my stock setting mark went on my AFM, so I'll just play with it and figure out what works best. though, it COULD be getting fuel starved. on the old injectors and regulator, it was pushing 100PSI so it wasn't starving at all (it was seized, and I almost broke the AFM adjusting it to run right). and right now I can hear the fuel pump dropping rpm when there's any real load on the car (like the blinkers). maybe I should get a pressure guage and see if i'm losing pressure at higher RPM
  7. talking about at a standstill. BUT that's ok because I know it's the AFM and connectors being out of adjustment and corrosion on plugs. because it's the same issue it had when I first got the car (and cleaning the connectors and calibrating the AFM fixed it) I know a while back, this car was able to pull pretty strong all the way up to 6k so I just have to get everything dialed back in after sitting for so long.
  8. I got my 78 280z running a bit better, AND got a 30 day temp tag on it (again) the popping it was doing due to the crushed exhaust is GONE, but it's having trouble going past 5500rpm (I'll be due to corrosion) oh, and the starter relay is shot, so I kind of cheat. I turn the key to start, and let the pump build up pressure, then pull out a screwdriver and jump the solenoid on the starter. fires right up. I also found out ALL my lights work perfect (hazard lights, hi/low, everything else) except I guess I need a new light bulb for the passenger front side marker light thing. and for the first time I noticed all the plastic for the tail lights and crap are well...perfect. and the panel gap is pretty damn close to perfect. Now it's time to clean ♥♥♥♥, tune it, and get it running better. I think the transmission needs new oil in it though. it's a bit noisy. OH, and the clutch needs to be adjusted a bit. I have to have it on the floor to fully disengage, and if I rev it to 5k in 1st, I get a bit of chatter and the car moves >_> I'll have a video of how it sounds with the new pipes in a few days though. Driving her today felt GREAT. I haven't been able to hardly even START the car much in a YEAR. let alone drive it all night without worrying about stuff going wrong. oh, gotta check the brake pads. they WORK fine, but the fronts are kind of...squealy. especially the passenger front.
  9. so the infra-red and ultra-violet spectrums? if so, that would be pretty awesome. it'll help a LOT out here in arizona where the inside of a car easily could cook pie lmao
  10. well at least instead of banning black cars their trying to get something USEFUL passed. but at the same time, won't more reflective windows ALSO mean more blinding other drivers?
  11. MAN it would be cool if I could bring my Z out there, but I know I won't have the money, nor the trust in my car, to make that sort of a trip. (hell, the first day I get the thing fixed, pass emissions, and registered, I'm going to drive it till I empty a full tank of gas, almost non-stop, running laps around the freeways and streets in phoenix, JUST to test its driveability and check for problems)
  12. I don't think the wheel would come off on a Z because of the way everything holds together. I could be wrong though. but judging from the diagrams in my FSM, it looks like the only way the wheel could fall off would be if the stub axle sheered. (or is that what you're talking about lmao) I know on a swing axle bug, your worst nightmare is breaking an axle. because once you do that, it'll end up pulling whatever part of the axle is still hanging to the wheel, and it alllll slides out (and you better hope it broke close to the transaxle so you have a little more time before it falls out)
  13. I've seen that too out in NC. freaking nuts man.
  14. yep, because you drive on the right side of the road, and the mail boxes are on the right. also, if you have to stop on the road and walk to the door, it's also safer.
  15. wait, so THAT'S what that's called? I made small posters doing that several years ago. I couldn't do them too big because of the image size's that I was working with, but I have a 2x4, a 4x2 and a 2x2 poster that I made. crap, I want to get a crap load of paper and color/black ink and make one to cover my wall or something. (oh, I know what would be cool, take a picture of an unfinished wall from a construction site, then use that as my wall. bonus points if it has all the wiring that match up with my wall socket)
  16. I bought my 78 280z in uhh...september of 07. I haven't been able to register it because of emissions problem I haven't even SEEN my car in uhh...several months...because it's at a friends house 7 miles away, and I haven't been able to go work on it at all. BUT friday I'm finally going to fix the freaking exhaust fitment issue I have with the MSA cat back setup I bought. after THINKING of what may be my cars current issue these past months I'm 110% positive the massively crushed exhaust has been the source of all of my recent issue. (Car won't rev past 5500RPM and pops out the intake when it hits 5500RPM. the exhaust was so crushed that it was able to build up a massive amount of pressure inside the cylinders, and when the intake opened, it would pop because of the pressure build up)
  17. Dude, I say keep it as a cruiser car you can drive around in. it looks freaking brand new. I don't care too much for the S130's but I'd definitely drive that around.
  18. USPS Tracking also sucks. every time I used it here's what it tells me The shipping dude said he's gonna ship something The mail dude said he gave it to you. that's it. unlike with UPS tracking (where you know exactly when and where it's been throughout its 3 day journey)
  19. PRIORITY MAIL is the ONLY thing I will use for USPS. it's the ONLY damn service they have that gets to places when it says it will. FIRST CLASS is really freaking slow. a buddy sent me a paintball gun I bought from him from NJ to NC. it took over TWO WEEKS to get it. not only that, but the ENVELOPE with the money order I sent him took FIFTEEN days to get to him. after the second week we were both flippin out thinking our money got lost, but the next day he got it. just chill out a bit, it'll get there. First class mail is total crap.
  20. I don't like the looks of this part of their cage though they butted up two pieces of tubing and welded them together. I don't know how safe that is...especially on a bug but HEY! this article IS Z related! the engine came from a V8 Z! man, I bet that Z sounded WICKED with those 180 headers it came with (hey, know we know what sort of setup 180 headers will work on in a Z lmao)
  21. But then you have to add another to make it a baker's dozen
  22. whoa, that's kind of neat, but I'm not quite sure what to think of it. but that wing really has to go.
  23. you could always do something like get a short wheel base 4x4 pick up frame, hack up the S30 body, and drop it on the frame. I think that's how the guy with the hill climb 4x4 260z (?) did it.
  24. that looks like an OLD set of carbs on there. it looks like there's a lot of varnish (?) all over them
  25. You know what, seeing that black corvette made me remember a gem I saw the other week. An all black Lingenfelter Corvette C6 I wasn't sure what it was at first, except that it was the most bad ass corvette I've seen around here, so I took a good look and found out what it really was. freaking crazy to see such a nice high dollar car in this area (though, there are a lot of nice muscle cars that run up and down the roads from time to time)
