  1. Hey man, once again, I was in your shoes with this problem this summer You should get on the AIM train so we can chat it up about the swap. These part numbers aren't complete, but it'll give you a good starting point. TrumpetRhapsody and I are both running this and haven't had any issues whatsoever, and the stock oil sending unit on the 280Z thread right into the 1/8 NPT Fitting. From my thread [shameless plug ] http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=153195 * Oil Feed Lines - You can use the stock L28ET lines and distro block - the "T-Fitting" [This is the easiest route] but I got stainless steel lines for my car. You will need a T-Fitting at the Oil sending unit to get oil for the Turbo. I used these parts from Pegasusautoracing.com [THANK YOU CHRIS a.k.a TRUMPET RHAPSODY for the part numbers!!]: - A 1/8 NPT Female T-Fitting http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro....asp?RecID=895 - A 1/8 NPT Male Fitting to 1/8 BSPT Male fitting to connect the T Fitting to the stock hole for the oil sender http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...s.asp?RecID=56 - A 1/8 NPT Male Fitting to 4AN Male fitting to connect the T Block to the 4AN SS lines. http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...p?Product=3208 - I got the 4AN stainless steel "44 inch Size 4 TFE Hose, Straight Swivel to 90 degree Swivel" http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro....asp?Product=4 - 1/8 BSPT Male fitting to 4AN Male fitting. [The Banjo bolt is a 1/8 BSPT] This is to connect the 4An SS Line to the turbo, I used a restrictor plate and haven't tried this myself. -------- A word of caution - in that thread there was some confusion whether or not the Banjo bolt is a 1/8 BSPT or not, definitely confirm that before ordering. I had a special restrictor piece that already had a 4AN fitting on it. I actually brought my extra S130 T3 down with me, I need to go confirm that the bolt is BSPT. Also if you're having trouble finding gaskets for the T3 I include in that write-up where to get a full kit for $8
  2. <----- Fail. Did not know that. Do you know what modification I have to prevent that? No carpet Here is a quick cross reference from the micro-squirt to the other MS units if you want to see the pros and cons of doing one or the other! [i got rule-tagged, I'm thinking it's because I got on my terbeaux soapbox ]
  3. Josh, I've never driven a stroker L28 and probably won't ever get the chance, but like S130Z said, you MUST try a terbeaux-flavored L28 one day. It completely woke up my F54/P79 and feels like a completely different car. It also helps having all those extra fun noises when you're driving around Best of luck, good luck with school!! [i should FINALLY be graduating next May]
  4. What part of MegaSquirt requires splicing into the stock harness? I have MS switched on with the Rear Defogger Switch on the centre console, and MS has its own harness that plugs into the relay board. There was no splicing in my car, the only reason you'd do that would be to switch it on with the key I guess, but even then it's just one wire. I'd say go for it, honestly it's not that hard to do, and you can have it done pretty quickly if you have all of the parts set up before hand. The great thing about having carbs though, you could throw them back on if anything catastrophic happened with MegaSquirt. Just my $0.02, I was very intimidated my MS before I did it as well. It's worth it though.
  5. I'll get in line for those flat tops if you part it out.
  6. Because if I go LSX I'd like to stay N/A for a while and get familiar with the engine. Plus, I don't really seeing myself needing much more than 400 RWHP... We'll see what is available though, if it will be faster [cheaper] to do a LS1 swap, I might just swap a 5.7 in with plans for a terbeaux.
  7. Looks like I haven't updated this in a while. Swapped clutches last weekend, made a bad decision on the clutch and it slips worst than the first one. Lesson learned, ordering a new clutch very soon, hopefully can have it in after Thanksgiving but before Finals hit. I've had a serious power-plant life changing event this weekend. This is my buddy Kevin's 70 Chevelle SS. I have known him for a while but I hadn't had the time to ride in it until this weekend. It is an LS1 with a mild cam, FAST intake, a tune, and a 4L60E. He is dynoing a bit under 400WHP IIRC. Anyways, he got on it and I about soiled myself. So, I have until next Spring to decide what to do. I'd like to see what I can get out of the turbo L28, but with the LSX so readily available, [And my next project after the turbo car is 'finished' will be an LS3 S30], why not start collecting parts for a LSX build? Got to think long and hard about this one. If I decide to pull more out of the L28 next summer, it'll be a bigger turbo and meth injection, and possibly another rebuilt Flat Top F54/P90 with a thicker HG.
  8. Fidanzas have a 240mm surface, a stock clutch for a N/A 280Z or 280ZX is 225mm. You would do better to get the 240mm clutch for a 280ZX Turbo if you haven't put the car back together yet.
  9. No, no it is not. It is the MSA 'Type 1' Airdam. That car might possibly be cool if it was something other than a bone stock L24.
  10. Look at my sig That picture was when my car had an N42/N47 and was N/A. If you click 'terbeaux' in my sig it'll take you to my build thread, I won't bore you with the details of my setup here [NA>T FMIC, MSnSE] some recent pics: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh81/flatblack280/TERBEAUX/DSC03028.jpg http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh81/flatblack280/TERBEAUX/DSC03025.jpg But, I am using that KA24 TB and 75 Shaved manifold with my turbo swap. That picture was from awhile ago when I just got it put on and the 75 mani shaved. My MegaSquirt install was a debacle, I bought a used MegaSquirt unit from a member here [This was before the 40 post requirement >_<] and it was a complete cluster 'mess.' Ended up replacing the ECU AND the Relay Board after their shoddy soldering skills left my car stranded more than once. I had an issue with EMI noise from the MSI [common issue] that was fixed with a recommendation from a HBZ member. Otherwise, I love MS. The guys at DIYAT answer promptly and are very helpful and knowledgeable about the stuff. If you ever get on AIM, I am flatblack280, we can chat up the details if you'd like.
  11. MegaSquirt - Definitely worth it. It's really great to see all of the parameters to see what the car is actually doing. [This was my first stand alone and tunable car]
  12. Yep! I'm running MSnSE1 V3.57, no problems here I also had the cruise control mechanism but I took it off as I would never have need for it. If I ever get around to finding a thicker spring I'll be sure to let you know how to modify it so tip-in isn't so dang sensitive.
  13. Hmm. So, I'm a little confused. Are you trying to use the Lonewolf or a stock intake with stock linkages? And, from your other thread: What 60mm TB do you have now? The 240sx KA24 TB should be 60mm. Anyways, here is my setup. A couple of things to know, first: A: Porting the manifold is a must, I didn't do it at first and tip-in throttle was VERY choppy. I ported it out to match the TB and it is much better now. B: I never set up a bracket for the cable to go in, I have it directly connected to the 'snap bar' that attaches to the pedal. This is probably what you would view as the 'wrong' way to do things. The only thing that resists your foot opening the plate is the tension on the TB spring, so it is pretty sensitive. I've considered looking into getting a stronger spring so it's not so choppy. Anyways, just take one of those 'snap bars' [there are several in the stock linkage] and cut off one of the ball joints. I heated the cut end up with a torch and bent it over with a pair of Needlenose pliers, making a nice little loop. I went to AutoZone and got a cable kit which was nice because it already had a detachable piece on both ends, which makes it easy when you need to take the manifold off, but you can use basically any cable and fab up something to fasten it to the pedal bar. I'm so glad to be rid of that stuuupid EFI harness I also got some nice shiney Hex head bolts because I'm not a fan of allen-key bolts. I've been running this for two years now, and we also did it to Chris' car, with no problems. The only thing you have to get used to is the throttle response, unless you figure a better way to get tension against the gas pedal. Hope this is what you were looking for, good luck!
  14. For what it's worth, I had ALOT of slop in my stock linkage and converted to cable linkage with the whole KA24 TB flipped upside-down, which was quite easy and makes throttle response very, um... responsive. Have you thought about going that route? I have pictures if you want to see them. Good luck!
  15. I thought a RB26 was 2600ccs and a L28 was 2800ccs? I'm confused Who's on Bob's account, now?? Personally, I would not swap a motor that is not readily available in the states. 2JZs are everywhere, and if you get desperate you can even go get a N/A 2JZ out of a Lexus and swap internals like my roommate did for his Supra.
  16. Man I couldn't stop staring at it!! I know, right? Kind of makes me feel better about living in the states
  17. Haha nice.... Another "funny" CL Z ad. This guy must be high, asking $1000 for this piece. http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/1448444302.html He even had the audacity to quote KBB.
  18. Well then, you haven't searched enough. 75-80 L28E = N42 Block, 81-83 L28E & L28ET = F54 Block. Check this out if you are considering turboing your N/A L28E. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=153195
  19. Man that car looks awesome. Good luck with the future fun!
  20. Come on, man - you know better than that. This is going to the shed unless you change that title. Unfortunately I've never replaced the drum internals so I can't help you :/
  21. Where did you get your master cylinders? I replaced mine, and the MC they sold me was too short, and I had to switch back to the stock rod that comes off the MC and attaches to the clutch pedal.
  22. Looking great Dave!! I have some headers if you need them
  23. Is it running? Pictures are kind of important on a thread like this. My 78 is pretty rusty but I drove it home from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and came with tons of parts.
  24. I miss home Where are you at in Louisiana, Mr. T?
