  1. Flatty strikes again! I'm thinking... HX40? Cheap and big! Bob might have a better option though.
  2. No dyno. This is my last semester of Uni, I'm trying to stay focused on finishing up school I got the car running during the fall semester, then I had some reset issues, and then my LC-1 Controller went bad. I'm getting my LC-1 back tomorrow from Innovate, and then I'm buying the KnockSenseMS module. I am hoping to have the car tuned in a few months. I am at 8 psi currently, I have a FMIC so I'm going to try to get 12 psi out of my stock S130 T3. I am running crap-tastic 91 octane, I finally have a clutch that doesn't slip, and now I'm hearing audible pinging. I am hoping to take it to a dyno in May, and I will be running the quarter again at Branson Z Fest in June. I'll update my build thread with progress. If you want some motor against motor reference, I beat my roommate's SN95 5.0 Mustang by many lengths from a dig, or roll, and I am keeping up with my buddy's cammed LT1 3rd Gen Camaro. The flat top motor has been doing fine, I am not quite sure how I haven't blown a HG yet, I drive pretty aggressively. I get off it when I hear pinging though. Yes it is worth it, I just have LSX envy
  3. I would also love to see the process!
  4. Check out this super cool sticky in the TURBOCHARGER section. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=153195 And no, it's not worth it. Go LSX.
  5. NWAMotorSports.net - Thanks for the plug Ratsun [Not on there much] Z31Performance.com KA-T.org MSExtra.com
  6. I was unaware, I ordered a gasket for my 81 F54 at a AutoZone and that's what they ordered from Fel-Pro, since it had L24,L26,L28, and L28ET written on it I assumed they only had one. Want me to delete the above post? It doesn't really contribute to the thread :/ Anyways, I'm closely watching this and the other cooling options thread, I'd like to do some modifying if I rebuild my L28ET this summer.
  7. I also have a N42 short block, and I can pop off the head on my F54/P90A if you can't get the time, BRAAP. I have an extra Fel-pro sitting around for some reason so if I can help, let me know. By the way, on the packaging the Fel-pro lists the L28 gasket for all years, 75-83. *edit* I took a look at the Fel-Pro and compared it to this picture of my P79. This is obviously just where the head coolant passages are blocked but I guess that's the important part [i'm at home and all I have is this crappy MS Paint, sorry for the quality] The red circles indicate where there are holes in the head [P79] but not in the gasket, blue indicates holes in the gasket but not in the head. *edit* Oh. Monzter already did that. http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=841826&postcount=9
  8. Most people just block off the EGR area with plates. You can do that with any L28 manifold.
  9. The Tension/Compression Rod box tore off?? Do you do your own welding? Sorry to hear your Swaztikas are gone :/
  10. Thank you very much for the advice, BRAAP! I take absolutely no credit for this though - Mike [mikeatrpi] modified this off of Dave's [cygnusx1] L28ET map, after Mike blew a head gasket on the Flat Top F54. I will play with the tables tonight according to your recommendations!! I've just been tuning Fuel until now and I'm just waiting to get some $$$ to get the knocksenseMS for the Knock Retard so I can start adding timing where it counts.
  11. 91 Octane in Arkansas [Map made by Mike in New York for their 91], I get 93 when I can. I'd start out with a map like mine and add timing back when you get a knock sensor, that's what I'm planning on doing. I was actually looking up the KnockSenseMS kit today. I'm running a 1mm Fel-pro which should put me around 8.7:1 SCR with a P79 head. Haven't blown anything yet and I've driven the crap out of the car. [Those fuel tables are really old BTW]
  12. This is a conservative table on a flat top motor, but just to show you how different ours are, I've got on 100 kpa: 20 22 25 30 34 34 34 34 34 34 34 34
  13. You're in Tennessee... You should definitely come to Branson Z Fest 2010 in June! [i really just want to see your car ]
  14. I looove graphite on a Z. I think that Z34 color would look great! I would really want to do a BMW graphite like this:
  15. Congrats!!! Please get some driving videos when it's all buttoned up!
  16. I think the Z would be great to distract you in the tough bit. Maybe working on the Z will get your mind off things? And there's nothing that cheers me up better than boost!
  17. You could pull the brake booster line and suck it in?
  18. No way!! MAG, they beat you to it! AFAIK the OM606s came in W124s, it's a 3.0L Diesel. That's awesome.
  19. Hey, this is the thread we have here for Z MS tunes: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=99689&highlight=Map+sharing&page=2 Read all the way through that, and while you're at it, check out the MegaSquirt forums. http://forums.hybridz.org/forumdisplay.php?f=88 Anyways, ZManco is running MSII Extra on a N/A L28 using the ZXT CAS Dizzy, here are his maps: http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=930907&postcount=30 You can extrapolate the data and suit it to your needs if things aren't 100% like yours, this will just get you started and you can tune out the rest.
  20. My roommate's MKIII Supra [7M single, not 2JZ] weighed 3900 with him [180lbs] and his girlfriend [120 lbs] which should put his car's weight around 3600. For reference my 280Z weighed 2600 with me in it. [Turbo swap, no bumpers, rust reduction, I weigh 130 lbs] Did you mean MKIV Supra? Glad you finally got the car running, Mike! My roommate with the MKIII is building a 2JZ for his car, he got a BHG two days ago on the 7M so it might happen sooner than we expected I'm looking forward to helping him work on it.
  21. I saw that yesterday. LS3s are NOT 480HP. I think it's about 430 to the crank.
  22. You could just go steal a new SS Camaro from a dealership Bring it back with an L28 stuffed in there, they'll never notice http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2010-CAMARO-SS-LS3-242-MILES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19b8c86d7aQQitemZ110474325370QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
