  1. Well playing with the idle screw will narrow it down and it is really easy to adjust [And return to the stock location]. If one of the exhaust bolts was loose and it was a bolt that also held the intake manifold on then that could be the issue.
  2. "chiefly British past and past participle of spell" It's okay - he's just British!
  3. That's true, and the sound of some tripples on there... Hey, if you have the $$$ go for it!
  4. Listen to your Z friends Sounds like your Idle screw is set too high or you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Not exactly. http://www.freewebs.com/pallnet/products.htm http://www.freewebs.com/pallnet/stud%20kit.jpg Studs are way better than bolts. I just went to Fastenal, got the pitch and diameter of the head threads and bought a length of rod that had that pitch cut into it. I then cut 11 pieces of equal length, then just bought nuts to put on the ends. Use this at your own risk though. That's just what I did because it was more convenient that way. So you're blaming Felpro for that?
  5. Just look up a price for a SBC 350 cam, then go look up the price for a 'Stage 3' or whatever L28 cam. You'll be blown away...
  6. Trumpet had to do that when he put his FMIC in. There is a hood support on the S30 that holds the hood up if you don't have those 'hinges' [Not sure about the S130?] They are in there tight but they do come out. I had to take them off of a 78 I parted out.
  7. Hope this helps 8.92:1 SCR at the bottom right [that's L Engine's L31 with a 1mm head gasket] [Do a V8! More power, less work! ]
  8. Thanks for that, I was wondering about that as well...
  9. IMO I'd find a cleaner shell and convert the LHD to a RHD using all of those rare parts if you really want a RHD car. I couldn't imagine that body being worth it with all of that rust in the back panels. You got a really good deal on the badges dash, etc etc. About the rarity of the car... Mr. Mike T was showing me and Chris some pictures at Branson of him hanging out with some Z cars clubs in Japan - Guess what I saw? A group of LHD cars, because that's what they want over there. I was very surprised. LHD cars over there are rare, and are very desirable, but over here you can get a running LHD S30 for $1000 or less. It's all about the market. The "keep it stock because it's rare" arguement doesn't hold much water. Plus this is Hybrid Z.
  10. Back from the dead! Didn't feel like starting a new thread. Just wondering if anyone had heard much about the "T6." My roommate picked up a 2JZ for his MK III Supra today, and I was trying to find out when they stopped production on Toyota's Inline 6s. I stumbled across an article about the Volvo XC60, it's got a 3.0L Turbo I6, did a google search and found the S80 has a transverse I6 with twin turbos. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_S80 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xc60 Anyone heard much about the new 3.0 Litre motor? It's always cool to hear about new I6s.
  11. This should get you started. Good luck and welcome to HybridZ! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=134320&highlight=1UZ Here is a guy from Oz with a 260 Coupe http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=139981&highlight=1UZ Found those when I searched "1UZ"
  12. For clarification, stock meaning late L28E F54/P79 with stock head gasket. There are different sources, these numbers are from L Engine: 8.52:1 for the N/A F54/P79 and 9.82:1 for the N/A F54 and N47
  13. Hmmm I've got a pathy VG30E and I've been eyeing that manifold, plus it would give me an excuse to throw my other intercooler on the Z31. What are you doing about the hood?
  14. He's not talking about Head Gaskets Smokey. Try 'the z store' dot com for a different mani gasket. There are mixed reviews of the felpro manifold gaskets here, but I swear by them. I have used many and they have worked fine for me. Check this out v v v Is your head pitted or is there anything visible that could contribute to the leaks? Also a Pallnet kit is not necessary, [especially if you're in a time crunch ] I made my own from a single bar I ordered at Fastenal.
  15. I didn't post this earlier because I didn't know the exact facts, but the 87 cars only had it for certain months, look for the finned cover on the Z31s. An '87' car made in 86 *shouldn't* have it. The information is out there you just need to search some Z31 sites or google. I'm pretty sure it's mentioned here as well. Save yourself some effort jacking up cars and search
  16. A N/A F54 is a flat top and your compression ratio will be really high for the stock EFI and cam. Is there any thing wrong with your P79 or did you just want to drive the car while the work is being done?
  17. haha newb! Search 'turbo280z' on youtube......
  18. If you are looking for the LSD, The Z31s need to be Kouki [87-89] turbo cars and those are all N/A Zenkis. Koukis have the single light bar on the back, they don't come down near the outside like the zenkis. The blue car in this pic is a kouki, look for those lights and it'll say 'turbo' somewhere on the rear. Not sure about the 240sxs. There are several diff lists with spine counts and gear listings, you just need to search. If you do find one it'll have a finned diff cover.
  19. Whut'r you gettin' at? Well, If someone had $15k in hand for MY car, I would take the money and run. I'd start over with an LSX build and a low-rust shell.
  20. What EFI are you using? Have you read the turbo sticky? It pretty much covers everything you just asked. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=84860
  21. I'm pretty sure you can get some skinny needlenose pliers down in there and wiggle it off Just wondering - How are you going to get all of those metal shavings off the chain and such?
  22. I agree that we don't get alot of the good newer motors out there over here in the states. Think of how much more respect Ford could get if some RWD cars came with a 4.0 Litre turbo. The OP reminded me of this: [This one is modified but I could see it being a 2JZ killer ] How popular are the G6E Turbos down under?
  23. I wonder if you put lock-tite on there if it'll hold... I'm not sure if it will or not. You're supposed to break off the tab on the back of the helicoil after you put it in, that's why it has the 'notch' in it.
