  1. Burnouts really aren't a problem anytime but I think with a proportioning valve it would just make it that much easier. I may put a line lock in to "aid" me in the parking brake department though since I will loose that feature(which I'm not thrilled about!). I know line locks are not even close to 100% fool proof but atleast its something! Im just waiting for my tax return and them I'm calling AZC to order everyting! Should be this week!
  2. Yeah and they sucked just as much as the Villager! I know since I work on them from time to time at work! I'm exctied to see my car on the back cover! I'm glad I'm not under the bar code this time! LOL
  3. Well I've decided to buy the AZC big brake kits for my car as my winter project. For once I won't have to fabricate anything to make something fit on my car! Oh how nice that will be for a change! LOL I am going to buy the 13" / 4 piston kit for the front and their 12.2" rear kit. I want the 6 piston kit for the front but I really don't need it. It sure would look nice though! Do you guys think I will need a proportioning valve or will having both big front and rear brakes make it brake evenly? My thought is that it will brake evenly. It might be nice to have when I go to the drag strip so I can "turn off" the rear brakes to do a brake press a lot easier(not that its really a problem now...). Guy
  4. LMAO! Yeah no kidding! And they really fixed the problem for 2010....NO LAUNCH CONTROL MODE! Guy
  5. I drove ours a little bit tonight. It started snowing and the 275's out back were not liking it so I couldn't get on it at all. I did use the synro-match function and from the 3 times I downshifted it worked awesome! I can see it really helping around a track! Anyone who thinks this car is ugly really needs to see it in person. I am in love with already! Guy P.S. hopefully going to drive it tomorrow but the snow hasn't stopped yet so who knows....
  6. I am running a 265/35/18(25.6" tall tire I believe) on the rear of my ZX. I have it lowered using Tokico lowering sprrings (3/4" to 1"....can't remember). No rubbing at all. The offset of my rims is +35mm and I am using a 20mm spacer. When I ran a 275/35/18 it rubbed, so 265 is the max if you ask me. Guy
  7. We just got our first one in at our dealership on Thursday. I must say it is a beautiful car. I wasn't sure about the front end but I love it now that I've seen in up close. The interior is so much nicer than the 350Z too. It looks very aggressive in person. I can't wait to PDI(pre delivery inspection) the car and take it for a drive to test the syncro-match tranny. The one we got is priced at $33,000. Its got big brakes and nice wheels on it. I would love to buy it but it's not in the budget right now! I think its priced right, it does 0-60 in under 5.0 seconds doesnt it? I'll let you guys know what I think of it once i drive it...... Guy
  8. Here's me a couple weeks ago with some friends... I'm the one in the green shirt. I'm the ripe old age of 26!
  9. Yeah I am running them on my car. I have the 18x7.5's in front and 18x9.5's in the rear. I am running a 225/40 in front and a 265/35 in the rear for tires. I had to use the MMS honda adapters in the front(which I beleive are 38mm thick) and I had MMS make some 20mm spacers for the rears. I love the way they look! 10. Looks Great! One question though....why did you solid mount the exhaust? I would think that's going to cause a lot of vibrations in the cabin? Guy
  11. Mines not "radical" but a lot of people who aren't Z car guys seem to love it... More pictures...
  12. Off topic but since when do you have an LQ9 powered Z?! Maybe I missed something? LOL Guy
  13. Here's what I would do... If the dealership says it will fix it make sure that you get it in writing that that's whats going to fix it. IF it doesn't fix it you can come back to them and tell them your not paying for the repair. They may fight you on this but if you paid for diagnostic for that code and that's what they say will fix it then they better be sure that's it. I know that's how it's worked at both the dealerships I've worked at. That's the reason your paying for the diag. There's a reason it's costing you $373.00 for 6 plugs to be installed. It's probably $18/plug and labor is probably $100/hour. Personally if I'm going to pay $100/hour its going to be at a shop that services my make/model regularly.....aka not a Volvo dealership. Guy
  14. I'm still waiting on all the fine details of my coverage but I have some rough details with "classic car" insurance... 1. I have to run a "classic" liscense plate....no big deal 2. no mileage restriction 3. I can't take coverage off of it during the winter 4. its covered for the stated value of the apprasial If I go with the "pleasure vehicle" insurance.... 1. plate does not matter 2. I can take coverage off of it in the winter 3. no milage restriction 4. this does not gaurantee a stated value of the car and should anything happen to it, the value would be assessed at the time of the damage by using NADA, market value, and condition of the vehile at that time. Obviously I will be going with the "classic car" insurance. I don't want to have to worry about its value later on down the road and have to fight with the insurace company about that value! My agent said the pleasure class might be cheaper but I said I didn't care I just want it covered for the $24,000.
  15. How are you going to aim these? I had trouble just getting a single projector to point in the right direction!
  16. The insurance company does not appraise it, a third part does. If your car is worth something I would have it appraised and put under one of your parents insurance. Atleast then it will be covered.
  17. I told my insurance agent I drove it less than 6000 miles per year and she didn't say that was too much. I will ask her tomorrow just to be sure though. I have mine through State Farm.
  18. There are milage limits but I'll never see that limit. I probably only put 6-7000 miles a year. I had it done at... Twelve Oaks Motorcars, Ltd. 477S. Nicolet Rd Suite 6 Appleton, WI 54914 (920)380-9675 I forget the guys name but it was only $50 for me to bring the car there. If he comes to you its $100. This was for a basic appraisal. He does full documentation of vehicle for numbers matching stuff but those are more expensive. He did an old 69' Camaro that was valued at $70,000 for $2500. That one he got the numbers off of everything thing and documented it. Guy
  19. Thanks guys for the nice comments! I think the insurance is lower because its a "pleasure vehicle" and not driven as much as a daily driver. Either way it works for me!
  20. My insurance company has been bugging me about getting my car appraised for some time and I finally got it done yesterday. My car was insured under regular full coverage for a 1980 280ZX which was $37/month. Now that's its appraised it will go under collector car insurance and it will be............$11/month! That's coverage for the full appraised value. Now the place I took it to was a small business but after talking to him for a while I think he knows his cars. He seems to do mostly old muscle cars but he did have a 1981 280ZX 2+2 with aftermarket turbo system! He couldn't remember what the name of the system was but it was not factory. When we went out to look the car over he really really liked the paint. He thought the paint job was great which surprized me because I see every little flaw in the paint but I guess I know the car better than him. Then I popped the hood......hehehe........yeah he was really blown away by the LT1! First question was "how fast is this thing?!". Then he asked me a few more questions about what was done to the car and how much did I have invested in the car. Then we went inside again and he got out his appraisal books. He told me an excelent condition 1980 280ZX in stock form was worth about $8300. Then he did some figuring and told me my car was worth about $24,000! I was so happy because I wanted it to be at least $20,000 and $24,000 was way better! Now at least I can drive around without worrying about "what if something happens..." Not to mention my insurance went down! Guy
  21. NICE TIMES MAN! What kind of chassi stiffening have you done besides the 4 point rollbar(if any)? Also how much boost are you running? Guy
