  1. Sounds like you have an exhaust manifold leak. This would explain everything...ticking only for a while because once the manifold and head heat up they expaned and seal it self up...the smell is probably from the leak...and the loss of power could be do to your o2 not reading correctly due to an exhaust leak. I would check your exhaust/intake manifodl gasket for leaks(same gasket) and it thats it.........have fun! LOL Guy
  2. I don't think anyone actually makes a gauge pod for the 280ZX. It's probably custom. I just made one from a set of Miata pods. There is a pretty detailed post here in the body forum on how to mae a pod like that. You just have to search for it. Guy
  3. Wow long time no see! Glad your back! Guy
  4. No kidding! I have been driving like this for a week. I was out to lunch with a coworker last week and we took my car. On the way back to work I heard something metalic hit the underside of my car when I was coming up to a stop light. I didn't think much of it since it didn't happen again, just figured it was something in the road. Glad I didn't do any crazy highway driving! Glad you got them. Are they up to your standards? They have been sitting around for 2 years waiting to be installed. Now with the bixenon headlights I don't want to cover them up! LOL I found a member who is going to sell me both T/C rods for $40 shipped! I am going to get it back on the road and see if I can come up with an adjustable T/C set up for my car with my extra right side. I have a few ideas and Tony C has given me some pointers on how to go about making a set. Adjustable T/C rods and adjustable lower control arms for the front would be great. I'll have to see what I can come up with! Guy
  5. Man I thought the Optisparks came down in price! GM wanted $370 my cost(I work at a dealership so we get a certain percent over other dealerships cost...like 15% or something?). Factory Direct wanted $317 which I still thought was high. I also have to pay 10% over the cost of the parts that I buy from my parts department, so I still had to add another $32 to that! I only wanted an AC Delco new unit so Ebay was out of the question! Sure you can get them for $100 but what are you getting for that.......JUNK! I have been searching online for 2 nights for a good price and Summit has the best price that I found for a NEW AC DELCO unit...$310 + 12 handling. I also bought new harness for the opti because that's how water got into mine! Another $34 from summit which was fine because GM wanted $150! LOL What a joke! $150 for a 2 connector harness that is 12" long! Man I wish I had an LSx right now! LOL Guy
  6. Yup I sure did. I now know that that's probably what caused my failure. I am going to switch to 1 poly and 1 rubber bushing if I go back to stock setup. I am also going to install the bump steer spacers for the bottom of the struts. Hopefully with new T/C rods, new lower ball joints and the spacers my suspension geometer will be good to go after an alignment! Tony, I sent my info to you. Any info on what I nee to build a set would be great. I really need a stock set to get me back on the road though! Guy
  7. Well I broke my left tension rod on my 280ZX this past week. Just noticed it today on the hoist at work. I have been chasing a horrible brake pull to left and now I know what's causing it! Ok now my question is does anyone know if the S30 adjustable tension rods fit on the S130 chassi? I don't have my car at home right now so I can't just go out and look at my good tension rod to compare it to the pics from "Techno Toys" website, so please forgive me if its obvious! ^^^^^^^Techno Toy Tuning Adjustable S30 Chassi T/C rods^^^^^^ If they are not the same does anyone know if I can get adjustable ones from anywhere? I have searched the web but haven't found anything yet. If nothing is avaliable does anyone have a parts car that I can buy both tension rods, bushings, metal cups, and nuts? I need this stuff ASAP! Thanks guys! Guy
  8. Well first of all for the last week I have a had a horrible brake pull to the left under any sort of braking. I thought I had it fixed last night after putting some new rear pads in since they were gone. Drove it to work to day only to find out that the pull was still there. Then today after work I was supposed to go get my nitrous tank filled but when I went to start my car it wouldn't start. I had the same problem after getting it back out after the winter storage. I found that I had water down in my optispark connector and it was corroded. I cleaned that out and it's been running for almost a month. It has stalled on my 3 times but fired back up pretty quick. Well today it would not fire up. I pushed it inside at work and found I had no spark again. I pulled that connector out and found it green again with corrosion(i have not washed my engine bay this year so I guess I didn't get all of the corrosion like I thought the first time!). Well that was enough for me. I decided right there I was getting a new Opti and new subharness for the Opti. This is getting fixed once and for all! Then when I had it up in the air I noticed that my left T/C rod was broke! Now I know why my car pulls so bad when braking! I checked over the rest of the suspension and found both my lower ball joints have some play so those are getting replaced too! Here's the bill from today... *2 lower ball joints..........$80 *Optispark and misc. parts to replace it.....................$275 *T/C rod and bushings........don't know yet need to find someone who has a 280zx parts car who can sell me that rod and I need to ge some rubber bushings(I had urethan ones, I know those are bad! I wont be leaving them in there!). I have the old Opti off and the ball joints on order. My car will probably be down for a week or so. This days going to cost me $500, I can see it now! While I was removing the opti I thought "I should get custom plates that say "MNEYPIT" "...It never ends! Guy
  9. The painless harness is the same way. I have one relay and 2 flashers and the rest are fused. I ran relays for the stuff I wanted on relays. Guy
  10. SEARCH! This has been brought up a thousand times. No this is not a good idea. Bolting up a tranny that was originally behind a weak V6 will not be able to hold the torque of a V8. Get a WC T-5(world class)from an old camaro or use the T56. Do a search in the chevy V8 forum for "WC T-5"
  11. I used a painless harness in my car(bought it off ebay new for $212 shipped, some guy bought it but didn't use it so it was still new!). It was teh 18 circuit one. I personally thought it was very easy to install. Tons of extra wire so you can pretty much route it how you want to and not be worried about running out of wire. The wire lables will probably come in handy down the road if there is a problem. So far so good for me! Guy
  12. My Mom has an 06' VW Jetta TDI. She loves it. She has the automatic but it has a lot of options for shifting(sport mode, normal mode, and shift on your own). She knocks down 42-47mpg driving to work(30 miles hwy) and some city driving. I hate VW's because of what I see at work(we have a VW shop at our dealership). It seems like there is always something wrong with them. I must say though that my Mom's car has been great to her, ZERO problems and she already has like 55,000 miles on it! You have to beat on your VW diesel though to keep the intake clean(VW guys told me that). Guy
  13. I am using Autometer 2 5/8" gauges in my center 3 gauges. They are a tight fit and require a little trimming of the stock bessel but they look good! Guy
  14. ...1 WEEK LATER... New post in drivetrain forum... "How do I put in my new LSD diff?" Hi my name is Billy Bob, I just bought this LSD for my 240Z but for some reason it wont bolt up to my axles? I read on here that this is the LSD that I need! What gives....?
  15. There's not like a year warrenty on it is there? I doubt you have that many miles on it... Did you contact James and see what he can do for you? Guy
  16. Nice pick Dan! I love the Frontier too! The 4.0L engine is great. We don't have too many issues with the Frontiers or the 4.0L engine. Once and a while we get them in for a P0455(gross evap leak) which is almost always just a vent valve thats stuck open from debre getting clogged in it. There is an updated filter kit for it now though so that should fix it(08' might even have it already on it!). Guy
  17. If JCI starts making LS1 swap parts for a S130 chassi I may switch over to an LSx! I like my LT1 but the LS1 has so many advantages over the LT1... Guy
  18. First of all putting an unknown amount of refrigerate in your car is pointless. You don't know how much is still in there right now. R134a systems are very sensitive to the amount of freon that you have in it...extra is not a good thing. You really need to pull a vacuum on the system first and see if it can hold a vacuum. IF it does then you know you don't have a leak. IF it can't you obviously have a leak and it's not going to matter if you fill the system because it's all going to leak out and usually it's pretty fast. You should really have it diagnosed/filled by a professional.
  19. Oh I have no intention of replying to any more emails or taking any bribe that he has to offer. This kind of stuff really irritates me. Yeah he gave me my money back but it took a Paypal dispute to get the truth and my money back. All I wanted wasn an honest transaction. I can't stand it when I get the run around for something that I paid for in full and right away. I don't care what your excuse is, lying is lying! JSM, I would have left neutral or even positive feedback had he been honest right from the get go. I don't tolerate liars! Guy
  20. So about 3 weeks ago now I ordered some lug nuts on ebay. I had to replace mine because at the end of the driving season last year I noticed that my studs in the rear were twisted(not sticking straight out from the hub!). So when I removed my wheels a few studs broke. So I figured I would just order a whole new set since trying to replace just the 6 that I needed would be more work than just getting a complete set(they were locking lugs with a special key). So I found a set on ebay for $19.99 + $10 S&H. So I ordered them. Now their auction said that after payment I would receive my order in about 4 days. So I paid that same day(Friday). Now a week later I still haven't received them so I email the seller... Email#1...."Hey I was wondering if it would be possible to get a tracking number? I still haven't received my order. Thanks" Response..."I send you number to Paypal. Check Paypal." Email#2...."I checked my paypal but I don't have anything in there to receive messages and the transaction reciept doesn't have anything on it either. Can you just send it to this email address. Thanks" Response..."I already send you number to Paypal. Check Paypal." Email#3..."I have checked my account. I don't know where you think your sending it to but I don't see a tracking number anywhere. Can you please just send it to my email address? Thanks" No response.... AFTER 7 DAYS OF EMAILS.... Email#4..."Ok seriously why haven't you sent me a tracking number? I am filing a paypal dispute tomorrow at 12:00pm central time if you do not send me a tracking number or if the lug nuts do not show up tomorrow. This is completely ridiculous. I just want to know where they are or just receive them. Your website says it should take 4 days to receive them after payment, it has be 14 days since I paid. If I would have known getting lug nuts was this difficult I would have bought them local for a few more dollars! SEND A TRACKING NUMBER TO ggrenfell18@yahoo.com . I DO NOT RECIEVE ANY EMAIL OR NOTICES THROUGH PAYPAL! SEND IT TO MY EMAIL ADDRESS!" Response..."i will give you tracking numbers tomorrow. Please don't file claim yet." Email#5..."Why can't you just send me one right now?" Response..."because I am at home now. All of those information are in my office. so I can't check it now." Email#6..."When did you ship them? It's been 14 days since I paid?" Response..."i shipped on last week, because we were went out of stock, so your shipment was delay." Email#7..."I'm sorry if you think I'm being an a-hole but I have a car on jack stands waiting for lug nuts because I can't put regular lugs nuts on because they are too big to fit in the holes. This is the only thing keeping me from driving this car. Who did you ship them through?" Response..."I ship with UPS." Email#8(next day at 9:30am)..."What is the status on my tracking number?" Response..."i will give you tracking numbers very soon." Email#9(now at 10:30am)..."Ok now your at work but you don't have a tracking number on hand? I would like a refund on my shipping. Waiting 2 weeks for lug nuts is ridiculous. You shouldn't list an auction if you don't have the parts in stock." Now I filled a PAYPAL Dispute.... Response..."I am very sorry, I really forgot send to you, so do you still want it or refund ? sorry again my mistake." Email#10..."So you didn't send them out yet? If that's the case just refund me my $30. I can get them local." Now I have my refund and he leaves me positive feedback. I then leave him negative feedback for lying to me over and over. I would have left positive feedback if he would have just told me in the first email that he doesn't have them in-stock or that he forgot to ship them. I can deal with that but lying to me over and over really pisses me off! I HATE Liars! Response to my negative feedback...."I already give you full refund, why you still give me negative feedback ?" Email#11..."You wasted 2 weeks of my time telling me that you sent my lug nuts and then you finally come clean and tell me that you never sent them. What did you expect me to leave, a positive feedback? If you would have told me right away that the lug nuts were not in stock and that it would be a while before I could get them, then I would have left you positive feedback for be truthful. Your a dishonest business and I just want to let people know that." Response..."I am very sorry, becasue we are short people working in our company. So I make this mistake. Can you make a deal from you , once you remove bad feedback, then I will give you $30 store credit, you can buy some thing from my ebay store. Thank you for your time." Email#12..."Why would I want to do any more business with you? I don't want anything from you. I just wanted an honest transaction. Maybe next time you will tell your customer that "you don't have the part in stock" and not just tell them that its on the way and that you have a tracking number but you can't find it. Honesty is always the best policy. I will not retract my feedback, that's what the feedback system is for...to tell people if you had a good experience or a bad one." Response..."Because this bad feedback will bring my business go down. So can I send $30 to your paypal account, would you able to remove feedback. I hope you can help me. Thank you" Email#13..."NO. I don't want your money or your goods. Next time tell your customer the truth! You wont have to worry about negative feedback. Consider this email the last one your getting from me, this is a done deal!" Response..."I hope you can help me, can I give you $50 ? can you remove it." Oh and he also filed some mediation complaint "thing" with "Squaretrade" through ebay. I also told them the whole story and declined to mediate at all and refused to retract my negative feedback! Oh and their name is "Unlimited Automobile Products" just incase you wanted to know! Ebay account... "uapone" Cry me a river!:icon_frow:icon_frow:icon_frow:icon_frow:icon_frow Guy
  21. Where are you going to mount a 14" fan onto an exhaust system? Seems to me like it would take up a lot of room and an S30 doesn't have a lot of room to spare as it is. I'm all for more HP but I'm with Ron on this one...I think there are better, easier, more efficient ways to make more power. By all means try it and prove us wrong! Guy
  22. Ok, the only question I have is how big is the fan going to have to be to suck 2000CFM I mean a shop fan that blows 7000 CFM is like 4' across isn't it? Just put a turbo on it(intake side!) and call it a day! LOL Guy
  23. You know if they took the price down to $4-500 I would probably buy it. I think I could make some money off of it building headers for guys I know. Heck I could build some headers for the V8 280ZX guys! Sweet product but way over priced! Guy
  24. Well I put in the INVERTED LED bulbs from autoillumination.com. I bought the blue ones. I think they are 10x better than regular bulbs. I can actually see my gauges at night now! Not to mention the blue is much brighter in color. BAD picture but... Guy
