  1. Wow I never thought I would see a chopped Z! That thing looks unbeleiveable though! I think you might be the only other guy who can give "BlueOval Z" a run for his money(once your is done anyways!) Guy
  2. No beause it wouldn't do anything anyways because they dont go that far into the calipers. Guy
  3. Yours is a power rack and pinion correct? If so you will have to replace the rack as a hole because I dont think anyone sells kits to reseal them. I have never heard of a seal kit or of anyone resealing one? Guy
  4. They fit, just screw them in till they stop. They wont leak trust me. I thought the same thing as you. Oh and on the passenger rear, make sure the line doesnt rub on the diff. Im not sure if you have a R180 or a R200 but I know it rubs on my R200. I just replaced that one about 2 weeks ago because it rubbed through. Just a heads up! Guy
  5. Well thats depends if you Silverado gets it speed signal from the wheel speed sensors or a tranny VSS sensor. If its the wheel speed sensors your pretty much screwed. If you unplug those your ABS will not work and it will for sure set codes. If its a VSS sensor in tranny you might be able to just unplug that but it will also set a code. There is not "switch" to just turn off the speedo/odometer. This is the reason there is not switch, because every one would turn the speedo off. Oh and unplugging the VSS could cause a driveablitly problem too. I know if the output or input speed sensor on Dodges goes bad(open circuited) the tranny controller will put the transmission into a "limp" mode, which means only 2nd gear. Either way they are going to be suspious if you have 34,082 miles and when you come in next 3 months later you only have 34,100. Plus there will be a code in the PCM or tranny module. If it is an on going problem with your tranny Chevrolet should pay for it if it breaks within a reasonable time from the end of your warrenty. I know the dealership that I work at would take care of you just as long as there really is a problem. Of course you could always threaten to "Lemon Law" the vehicle if the problem persists. That will noramally get the dealership to cooperate! Guy
  6. Come on, there is tons of info on strut braces, cages, subframe connectors, and other custom stuff guys have done to strengthen the "frames" on these cars. If you searched the chevy forum and not the "Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis" forum then that would explain why you didnt find much info. Guy
  7. So does that mean your cars getting painted! Guy
  8. Do you mean the U-joint is binding or is it actually hitting something? I would think the column might be a little different or offset a little different that the manual rack which mihg be causing your problem. I think a few guys have done what you did so maybe the search function can shed some light on this one? Guy
  9. Well here are the measurements that they gave me.... *The red is from the mating surface to the farthest part sticking out on the center ports. *The green is from the center of the bolt holes to the top of the manifold *The blue is from the center of the bolt holes to the bottom of the collector. I just measured the distance from the center ports on my head the gear box and its about 2.75". So it doesnt look like this will work for us 280ZX guys. Guy[/b]
  10. So whats the time frame till this one is done? Like a month? I mean it only took you (what seemed like) a week to swap out the LT1 for the LS1! Nice car for sure! Exspecially the pricetag! Guy
  11. I just look at the Speedway Motors site and they are avaliable. I also just emailed them to see what kind of measurements they have on them. I think for the 280ZX's with the big ol' gear box steering set up there is about 2"-2.25" of clearance between the bare head and the gear box at the center ports. Man if these fit that sure would make it nice for the guys looking for a set of manifolds that would flow decent and they arent too expesive(if you ask me) and if you thermal coated them they sure would look nice! Guy ps. I'll post what info I get as soon as I get it!
  12. If those ram horns would work on my car I would take the headers I have on it now off an put those on(after I sent them out to JETHOT to be coated). They will probably flow just as good as a set of block huggers but they will be quiter because they are thicker. I like the sleeper effect but with headers on my car its kind of hard to pull that off. Are these still a "maybe" as far as a production piece? Thats kinda what I got out of the posts on that site. Guy
  13. I have heard of this more that a few times, what causes the pick-up tube to come out? Guy
  14. All I got to say is Mike Kelly = Bad idea to get cocky with an Admin.... Guy
  15. I didnt think it was possible to rice out a z but this guy did it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2487163141&category=6187 Guy
  16. Yeah the painted panel looks a lot better! Guy
  17. If you call the machine shop they will ask you for a set of dimensions. When I had mine made they asked for the center of the U-joints on the yoke end(tranny side) to the center of the u-joints on the flange end(differental side). If you can get the yoke and the flange off the old driveshaft you can do the same as me. Just put the yoke all the way in the tranny then pull it out 1/2"- 3/4" and attach the flange to the diff. Then measure from center to center where the u-joint would be. That is how they told me to measure mine. Guy
  18. Where you using a new GTech Pro or an the old one? If you are using the new Gtech.....take it to the track and see just how accurate it is. Im really curious to know but I wont be getting to the track this year. Nice kill list too! Guy
  19. Isnt comparing the NSX, TRV, and 911 kind of unfair? All of those cars are not even close to what a Vette costs. A better comparison would be the Viper. You get what you pay for. The Vette is a very nice car for what you pay. If they want to compair US Vs. British then I say Viper Vs. whatever they want! Guy
  20. I just showed my GF what I did and she thought I bought it! LOL I actually had to convince her that I made that! She kept saying "no way you bought that!" I think thats about as good of a complement that I can get! Guy
  21. Why dont you drive your 280ZX as a daily driver? Just curious? Guy
  22. This is an extremly common issue with Z's and it has been talked about a lot. Do a search on exhaust leaks and you should find what you are looking for. Guy
  23. Yeah I think Darius's car might be an example of too much power not enough traction! If he put some slicks on that thing..... Guy
  24. Any good driveline or machine shop can make a driveshaft. All you have to do is give them the measurements that they want. Guy
  25. First of all do they even fit? Those have to be pretty tall with all those motors under the seat? Second, do those seats have power seat modules? I would imagine they do. Just as long as you have those modules and put power and ground where it is needed, I would think getting them to work would be easy. Guy
