  1. I just noticed that not only my "donating member" status is gone but so is everyone elses? Whats up? Guy
  2. Sorry I didnt answer. With out being notified by the site when a post is made its hard to keep up with older posts like this one. Yeah I have had my modified flange on my car for 2 summers now and it is one thing that hasnt given me a problem. I cant remember what king of bolts I have. I know they are hardend but they are not original bolts. I too could not find a flange that would work and this solution seems to be working just fine! Tje big problem with find a flange is trying to get the seller to just sell the flange! Once that flange is off the diff. no one wants to buy it. I wasnt about to buy a whole diff just for that flange! Guy
  3. Yeah take it to a shop and they will charge it up and add dye to the system. Then you will have to take it back in say 1-2 weeks to have it checked for leaks. Just remember with an R12 system the refrigerant is way more expesive than R134a. I think last time I checked R12 was somewhere around $70/lbs.....were as R134a is some were around $20/lbs. So its not going to be cheap to fix. Guy
  4. I have access to about 10 more of these light set ups. My stepdad brought home about 20 of them when the place that he works at got new ones. Some dont work but there is enough left to make about 10 of them work I bet. All I have to do is buy bulbs($12 for 10 of them!) and wire them up. I know I am going to put atleast 1 more up for the back of the car but I dont know if I will put anymore than that up. Its already super bright in there! LOL I was using those 500W lights on stands but they waste way to much electricity and they are just a pain in the a$$ to move around. And in the summer they are way to hot to have on! Guy
  5. Bastaad525, I think maybe if the conditions were really good and you had some sticky tires on the back and you pulled an awesome 60' you could hit a high 12 but you would have to drive like Scottie! LOL Guy
  6. I finally had it with no lighting in bay for the ZX so I decieded to take matters into my own hands! So I put up 3... "4-bulb 40Watt" flourecent lights above my stall. I think I am going to hang 1 more set above the rear of the bay so I can see what Im doing when Im in the back of the car. I just wish I would have done this 2 years ago when I started my conversion! This is with the normal lights on.......... This is with the new lights and the old lights on.......... Guy 8)
  7. You should have a R200 rear end. The R200 has proven itself to be a very reliable rear end. And if you want to go crazy get an R230. And no the T5 from the stock drivetrain will not work/hold up. Even if you could find an adapter it would not be worth the hassel of swapping trannys all the time because you would keep breaking them! LOL Guy
  8. Gotta love good burn out pics! Now I'm just waiting on a smartass comment from Bastaard525! LOL V8's rule! Guy
  9. Yeah I guess I was thinking of it as a street car Guy
  10. Wow that video sure does bring up some good points! I never really thought about the fact that there really wasnt any airplane pieces in the photos Thanks for sharing. Guy
  11. I love how those tires & rims sit on that car! Nice and fat and just plain old sexy! I cant say I car for the drivetrain though? I mean come on atleast turbo it! The car looks like it can handle some serious HP/TQ but that NA L28 sure aint going to push the limits of that high tech chassi! I dont care if it does have 325HP. Its probably very peaky and not a very wide power band. Gimme a L28ET or V8 man! Guy
  12. Dans engine bays is by far the cleanest / nicests layed out one that I have ever seen here on Hybridz! 8) Big thumbs up Dan! As for who makes that kit.....do a search for "Velo Rossa" Guy
  13. Yeah man just have fun and dont worry about trying to see every tourist site....I say do what Mike said.... Thats a good enough reason for me! LOL Your not going to do anything crazy like sell the ZX......are you! Guy
  14. Sweeeeeeeet! I dont know if I would even attempt to mess with a new Ferrari. Of course I have no clue as to whats what when it comes to exotics. I would mess with an older one but the new ones....I dont know? Where do you even get a Ferrari in Little Rock AK? LOL(sorry being a little stereotyplical...."doesnt everyone drive trucks down there?" ) Way to prove to him that he's not the only guy with a fast and nice looking car on the road! (yours is much cooler in my opinion!!) Guy
  15. This would all be in a 240Z with NO rust and a full cage...... Engine... LS2(yes LS2 not LS1) completely balanced and blueprinted. It would have super low compression so that it could handle say 20psi of boost on a supercharger. I would go with say a Procharger of some kind. All the internals would be forged and ready to take a 250HP shot of NOS when needed. Tranny... Deffinetly a T56 but built up to handle all the extra HP/TQ. A twin or triple disc clutch set up. Differental.... Complete Viper rear end with a Quafie LSD Suspension... Fully adjustable shocks at every corner. Double A-Arm suspension up front and the Viper suspension in the rear. Body & Wheels.... Probably just run on some 18's in the rear and 17's up front. 18's are easier to get in wider sizes. Not sure on brand or type but they would super light weight. The body wouldnt be too fancy just some ZG bolt on flares and a nice 3 piece rear spoiler. Of course I would want a nice front air dam of some sort. It would be nice to have functional belly pan and rear diffuser(but that would really require wind tunnel time and R&D) I would have it painted Candy Apple red with black flares and all teh windows would be tinted. Brakes... Nice big 13" rotors at all 4 corners(or bigger) with some 4-6 piston Brembo calipers. Exhaust... All polished stainless steel. True duals that come out the rear skirt (like blueovals Z..... ) Thats about it I think? Not too over the top Guy
  16. Now of course you know if you go with a V8 its going to require more than just the new motor and tranny. Deffiently new suspension that can handle the "added" weight and torque. Although the 5.0 is a pretty light motor, especially with alluminum heads and intake. Then your going to need a cooling system that can handle the V8. With the L28ET you can use a lot of the parts that you have now. The cooling system should work. You wont need stiffer springs and its pretty much a bolt in drivetrain. Not saying the V8 isnt the way to go but you better have all that "extra" stuff in the budget or you wont be able to finish the project. It really depends if the "while Im at it" bug gets you during the motor swap! I know it got me! and it got me hard! LOL Guy
  17. My favorite.... "He'll be out in a mintue" Too funny! Guy
  18. I had a dash cap before I installed a new dash pad(in a ZX you can get just the padded part). I will agree that it looked good while it lasted but mine too warped. I think installed my wrong though. I applied the adhesive all over the place and by doing so it didnt let the cap flex at all. The instructions I got said to just put a little ways away from the edges all the way around and some here and there in the middle. Well since I didnt read the instruction till after mine warped I think I applied too much, as in I used the whole tube of adhesieve! I like my new dash pad a lot more though, but that costed a little over $400! And from what I saw the 240Z dashes were somewhere around $800 at the time(3 years ago) Guy
  19. Or if you have a dampner with the rubber ring in the center, the outter ring could have broken loose and spun off 20*. Guy
  20. Any OBD1 car will do. The connector is part of OBD1 standards. The connector has to be the same on all OBD1 cars. I cant remember what year they started OBD1 though. And also part of the OBD1 standards is that it must be under the dash. So finding one shouldnt be a problem. Guy
  21. Yeah I have heard that 100lbs weight lose is like gaining 10HP. So you gained 8hp basically! Now is your G-tech and old on or a new one? Guy
  22. Wow someone who actually wants to hear that voice! Most guys cant stand it and unplug it. Did it work at one time or did you just buy the car and it has been like this since day 1? If you bought it like this make sure its hooked up. Since I didnt have that in my car I dont really know where or how it is hooked up though. Guy
  23. I would like to quote a line from the movie "The Rock"........... "Dude you just f***ed up your Ferrari!" Deffinetly a case of Darwin at work! I dont feel bad for people like this. If your dumb enough to play chicken with a train then you deserve to lose a car like that or even die. Sorry but thats just my opinion! Guy
  24. Are you talking about the 280ZX or a 300ZX? If you are talking about a 280ZX, you should check out the JTR site again. They are selling parts for the 280ZX V8 conversion now. Including headers for the rack & pinion ZX's! I didnt see mounts listed but I am pretty sure you can use the JTR mounts minus the set back plates(for the motor). All the set back plates do is put the engine back 3" closer to the firewall than the ZX because the firewall is 3" farther back. I have pictures of the MSA mounts on my site but I dont have dimensions of them. All they do is change the Datsun 2 bolt pattern to a Chevy 3 bolt pattern and put the proper amount of spacing needed in. Also with the MSA mounts you still use the datsun rubber mounts that connect to the crossmember. Guy
