If I remember right, I think Andrew Bayley has S&S full length headers on his car. I haven't seen him post much lately, you could check his member profile to find out how to contact him for more info.

JB Do a search. There is MUCH info here on the Taurus fan, the fan of choice for discriminating Hybrid Z owners. Hope this helps.

My son's best friend has a Ranger pickup, with a four banger and a cherrybomb muffler. When he wants to mock the local ricer crowd he has a huge wing made out of two by fours and plywood that fit into the side rack pockets in the box, and a modified Maxwell House Coffee can on his tail pipe. He's even had ricers try to run him off the road.

"Mad Max!" Just old school rice, right down to the fake blower.

I didn't know I had "Custom American Racing" rims on my "289ZX"! Looks like they've been hit with some grey paint, and according to the bottom of the add, you can buy them now for only $300 each.

I have a friend that has the Dodge version, Daytona Charger, Hemi Orange, with a factory 426 Hemi and four speed/pistol grip shifter. AWSOME CAR.

I've beat out many riced out Honduhs with my 360 powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Sooo Funny.

Anyone have historical/classic car licence plates?
spdsk8r replied to Dave240Z's topic in Non Tech Board
Here in Michigan if your car is 25 years old or older you can get a plate from the year your car was manufactured. Take it to the DMV and register that plate number for a one time fee of $35. No more fees and no restrictions. My ZX qualifies next year. -
other motorized hobbies/bad habits/money pits
spdsk8r replied to randy 77zt's topic in Non Tech Board
My collection is not quite as huge as most of you. My 280ZX, in process. I also have a cottage on a lake (huge money pit) a 24' pontoon boat and a go fast Checkmate speed boat. Not motorized, but I have a couple of pairs of $1500 inline speed skates also. Oh, cant forget my 360 powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, or my wife's Olds Cutlass Convertible. -
What punch line? I never got to the joke. "JUST KIDDING" Funny. Even funnier watching someone of the blonde persuasion looking for it.

Does a '88/newer 350 with the center bolt valve covers use the same intake as the older ones? I found a deal on a Performer intake for $40, but I need to know if it will fit on my '91 350 truck motor.

I missed a couple of points in above post. add to Wire 7: ... Add a voltage sensing wire from the large terminal on the alt. to the right connector on the plug in connector on the alt. as looking at it from the back. add to Wire 8: ... to the left terminal as looking at the back of the alt. Sorry all.

My daughter does this all the time, not on purpose though.

Well, here is what I have. I can't load the diagram I have because the file is too large, so I will try to describe it accurately. Wire 1: The Black/Blue wire that went to the Z coil will now splice into wire 2. Wire 2: The Green/Blue wire from the fuel pump now connects to the Chrysler Fuel Pump Switch. A wire on the other side of chrysler switch splices into wire 5. Wire 3: The Yellow/Black wire for oil pressure switch ( I adapted Z oil pres. switch to Chevy engine, wiring stayed the same). Wire 4: The Blue wire that went to the Ignition Relay in the passenger footwell (Ign. relay discarded) now has a 15K ohm resistor in line to the neg. side on the HEI Dist. Wire 5: The Black/White wire that went to the Ignition Relay in the passenger footwell now goes to the plus side on the HEI Dist., it also has a wire from the plus side of the Chrysler Fuel Pump Switch spliced in (see wire 2) Wire 6: The Yellow/White wire that went to the Z Temp. Sending Unit from the temp. gauge. still to temp. sending unit. (I adapted the Z temp. sending unit to the Chevy Engine). Wire 7: The White/Red 12ga. wire from the Z alternator has a 14ga. fusable link spliced in, now goes to Chevy alt. large terminal. Wire 8: The Blue wire that went to the Z voltage regulator now goes to the plug in on chevy alt. Wire 9: The White wire that went to the Z starter now goes to the large terminal on the chevy starter solenoid. Wire 10: The Black/Yellow wire from the Z starter now goes to the "S" terminal on the chevy starter solenoid. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, let me know, I'll try to jog my feeble memory.

Chas, I did it in the late eightys on a 77, 280Z using the JTR manual and a Haynes manual. I had no problems getting everything to work. I can't remember all the specifics, these kind of things get fuzzy when you get into your fifties. I'll see if I can dig up some notes, if I still have them. If I remember right, I wrote down wire color corrections in my JTR manual for the 280Z. I'll check tonight.

Ya, last year my nephew was doing the same thing on his new Triumph Datona and went over backwards at 80+. He spent two months in the hospital.

It just started doing it to me last night. I tried to post a message 8 times, then gave up.

When I was in the service in Germany, I made the mistake of leaning across an appliance that had 440v/50Hz shorted to the housing, and grabbed a grounded faucet. Needless to say, I held on to that faucet for about four or five minutes (not by choice). After I finally got loose from the faucet I sat in the corner for about five hours, no energy to do anything else.

That second link did me in! I had to check both the front and the back of my shorts after that one.

Our gas prices just dropped this week. $1.67 for 91 octane.

Here's a good one. Last October our whole family flew out to San Diego, from Michigan, to attend my sons graduation from Marines bootcamp. There were six in our party. My daughter, her fiance, my mother-in-law, father-in-law, my wife and I. "Every" security point we traversed through, guess who was pulled out for complete search. You guessed it, my mother-in-law. Yah, this early seventies grannie sure looks like a terrorist.

The last time I received a call from AT&T it was on a Sunday, 1:00pm. We just sat down to lunch. The telemarketer had an accent that I could not understand. I asked to speak to her supervisor. When he got on the line I explained how they interrupted my dinner and I would like to speak to his supervisor. When he got on the line, I again explained how they had interrupted my dinner and by now it was cold. I asked to speak to his supervisor. He explained how I could not do that as his supervisor was not there, he was home eating dinner. I then informed him that they were a phone company and with the technology that they have they should have no problem doing a conference call or something like that to connect his supervisor. Well, even longer story shortened, I pulled some high level district something or other from his Sunday dinner to get his ear filled. Last time I ever received a call from AT&T.

280Zen, I just noticed your location. My 79 280ZX came from Orlando. I purchased it 5 years ago from a relative of a friend.

I did not have to drop the tank. The fuel pick up is acccessable in the hatch. Remove the carpet and pads from the back and you will see the access panel. I hope this helps.

I had this very same problem with my 79 ZX. Mine sat in a garage for 3 years before I purchased it. My solution was to remove the fuel pickup/float from the fuel tank. The fuel pickup line was completely plugged with varnish from old fuel. The pump could not draw enough fuel through the greatly restricted fuel pickup line in the tank. I cleaned all of the varnish from the line and reinstalled. Voila! no more starvation. I hope this helps.
