  2. Mongo had a very good bit of information to add to this thread, which easily could be read through a search. I feel that him bumping the thread adding to our archives in a constructive manner is good for the board as a whole. Fastzcars continued with accurate and constructive information. This might not help the OP, but it'll help others who are searching. I'll offer up yet another possibility: Some gear oils do not provide the appropriate protection for any "yellow" metals. When you're choosing you lubes do your research and make sure you're buying a product that has the appropriate additives of the correct grade. If you aren't sure, ask! I'm running redline's 80w-90 full synthetic in my trans after doing some reading here on the boards and finding many members recommending it. It isn't cheap (~$17-20/quart, 2 quarts needed), but I wanted the added protection.
  3. Finally bought myself a new lens! About time since I've been shooting with a broken kit lens for the past couple of months. It's a Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G, which seems to be a decent middle of the road lens for casual carry. Recently HDR has interested me, so I downloaded some of the software and gave it a whirl. Here's the view from my dorm room window at ~11pm, through a screen. I'm not very happy with the results, but I'm still not good enough with PS to blend the HDR shot in with the original layers. Any tips?
  4. Did you ever get the curvature right for the windshield?
  5. Ken, What exactly is the "Thank You" event on Oct. 16th and 17th?
  6. Yikes! I'm glad you were able to keep her out of it! Riding in your car gave me a bunch of inspiration to get mine done Ken. I'm trying to get my schedule worked out here at school to be able to make it to the last race of the year. It's beyond addicting!
  7. How old is your son? Maybe this slow thing is a blessing in disguise
  8. It's possible that you have an actual hole in the tank, but I feel like a cracked or missing hose is a more likely answer. Get it up on some jacks and take a look. I think it should be pretty obvious where it's coming from.
  9. Pyro, I'm unaware of this issue with the compression ratio on the stroker engines. Can you elaborate? It definitely isn't the cheapest build, $/hp. Going with oversized pistons is definitely a viable and common route during a rebuild. Another option would be sourcing a different longblock that was known to have good compression and oil pressure. There's been a ton of success from members on here with junkyard blocks Also, it's a 12% increase in displacement. The same power can be had from increasing the flow through the engine, but coupled with similar modifications the larger displacement is always going to make more power. Donk, Pyro brings up some very good points about the increased cost and work involved with a stroker build. Why exactly do you want to go with a 3.1? What are your power goals for the car and what kind of budget do you have to work with?
  10. Welcome to HybridZ! Sounds like you have a reasonable idea of what is going on It's not hard to drop the tank and replace the hoses. Where exactly is the leak coming from? First thing I would try to do is bleed the brakes. It could be as simple as air in the lines.
  11. Search, search, search All of the answers to your questions are at your fingertips. The most common stroker rotating assembly is made up of a V07 crank, 9mm 240z rods, and the appropriate sized pistons from a ka24. This, by far, isn't the most stout combo, but it is one of the most affordable ones. I've given you a start to help you get going in the right direction. Now you just have many hours of reading to do. There's a wealth of information here, so educate yourself. We're a very supporting community here at HybridZ, but we do place a huge emphasis on learning the fundamentals and answering your own basic questions. When you need help with the specifics, we're here for you Also, be sure to review everything here, paying careful attention to #2-5.
  12. Replace "fluids, circuits and mechanics of materials" with "Organic Chemistry and Chemical Thermodynamics" and you've got my day
  13. It may be obvious for some, but DO NOT buy Norton anything. From my experience they are a poorly designed product that actually loads viruses onto your computer so it can "get rid of them".
  14. Found it! I'll add it here tonight
  15. primer&rust, Did you assemble the unit yourself, or buy one put together already? What kind of problems were you having? Many people here have megasquirt working very well, but you have to understand that you'll be starting from scratch. Literally, you have to build the entire system from the ground up, including your tune. Lots of time and effort involved!
  16. I started flipping through my How To Modify book to add the pics here, but didn't see any. Do you know where I should be looking Tony? I'm sure I'm just missing them.
  17. Go ahead and add a bottle of LSD friction modifier. It isn't uncommon to have to add more than one bottle, so it isn't unreasonable to add just one to a specialty diff fluid
  18. This is usually what I suggest to my honda friends when they ask me what they should do to their cars. I think it's a pretty reasonable list for a fun daily driver that will make the car feel more "yours" and fun to drive. That being said, my suggestion for a project car will differ greatly It sounds like you're just looking for a fun car to drive, rather than something that's barely streetable, which is where I'm heading with things. Cockerstar's 5 step system to having a fun daily driver: 1. Intake and exhaust - typical K&N filter, headers, and 2.5" or 3" all the way back to a straight through muffler. 2. Ride height - can range anywhere from full coilover conversions, but lowering springs and shocks are a more affordable route. 3. Sound system - I'm simple here! A good head unit, some components and a single 12" sub will keep me content all day long. 4. Wheels - It's your car, pick what you like the looks of. 5. Tint - if your paint and body work are already in good shape a mild window tinting will pull the look of the car together, imo. Then again, not too much of that "phased plan" is performance oriented, but I've had many people be quite happy with it. Personally, I'm going through and doing a complete suspension overhaul on my car before I do anything else. Lowering springs, adjustable shocks, big brakes, limited slip with a more aggressive ratio, poly bushings, etc. I've chosen to keep it pretty mild since the car will mostly be used for street driving. Cconverting to a standalone EMS (megasquirt seems to be a favorite) will let you get the most out of the stock engine, and take advantage of whatever other modifications you do in the future. Set a goal for the car and then go from there!
  19. Looks fantastic Derek! Any idea on a ballpark for the price?
  20. The a-arms are identical from the factory, with one flipped to fit
  21. The necessity of their blessing goes without saying in my mind! Perhaps a portion of sales shall go as a donation to the server?
