  1. iirc, going with dished pistons really minimizes the importance of quench because the dish places the top of the piston even further away from the chamber. I know that there is a thread on here that has an extremely in depth discussion of quench properties on our L motors. I'm sure a little searching could answer your questions What year is your ZX? What are your power goals? What is your budget?
  2. In the Z community there aren't stock L24 injectors because they only came carb'd
  3. Seriously? Details?! I'm quite interested This looks pretty cool! here
  4. I'd at least go with iron over bronze so you aren't technically lying If there's a will, there's a way!
  5. It might be easiest to buy a set of round tops if you're going to have to rebuild these carbs to get it running. More than likely, you'll be able to sell them for whatever you pay for them, assuming that you get a fair deal
  6. Have you looked at the percentages of centrifugal superchargers compared to traditional "blowers"? Their compressors are extremely efficient in comparison. I have seen numbers as low as 2% of the total output to drive them! iirc, a roots style blower is in the 35-45% range.
  7. Lack of lag, extremely low parasitic loss, easily run in the same manner as a turbo (piping, intercooler, bov, etc.), can be run at high boost easily, retain the ability to run full length open headers. The list goes on and on, the only drawback is the cost. I'd love to see one set up on a high HP L-series
  8. A "car rotator" as in what is pictured above?
  9. Why make the mount out of billet when it can be made out of several pieces and then welded together? That would really bring down the cost a lot.
  10. There's a lot out there for you to be able to work with. At the very least you can make your own frame rails.
  11. Just pipe the outline of the cage and the box. So, number one without the bottom loop. Should give the right accent while looking complete, but not overwhelming.
  12. Average error: 3.62 Not too horrible. I'm great at everything except for the triangle center one and it really brings my score down a ton. I know I can do better than that!
  13. I was going to suggest picking up the suppressor while you still can. We've got until January to stock up on all of our goodies! Just in time for Christmas too. You might want to stock up on any high cap mags if you even think you might want them
  14. for a grand you can do much much better. That Z definitely needs a good deal of work. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but honetly, I don't think that now would be the best time to start up a project. A kid on the way is going to eat up all of your time, let alone cash.
  15. Well, the original engine, even thought rebuilt, probably isn't worth much. There might be some goodies on it that could be worth some money though. Take plenty of pics when you go to check it out and keep an eye out for rust rust rust!
  16. Try searching I know there's a thread full of wheel pics on here that you should be able to find.
  17. I'd advise cleaning up that post... Both in content and in form.
  18. Post up a conclusion to what you did and how you did it for the rest of us. It should be of use to someone searching in the future if you put a little detail into it
  19. Even though I'm all about the go fast style, there has been a ton of work put into that car and the stock-style beauty catches my eye and earns my respect. That something special about being that clean while staying that original is very appealing.
  20. Looks very very nice! I'm curious on the price as well, but I'm guessing that it will be too rich for my blood
  21. Having parts cars is an absolute must if you want to be able to do things in a decently fast manner! All of the lose bolts remind me of my fathers '69 camaro project. We've tightened and retightened bolts on that thing a multitude of times because of the cam. I think It's really time to break out with a bottle of blue loc-tite.
  22. My advice to you is to have the car blasted while you have it stripped down that far. You'll regret not getting 100% of the rust while you had the chance later on Hot damn, you've found a keeper! My girlfriend detests my "rusty pieces of metal" that are my 240's. It's going to be a ton of fun to get her to ride around when I have no interior and a minimal exhaust!
  23. I'm in the process of removing the sunroof from my '71 IMHO, it completely kills the lines of the car and sticks out as an eyesore. I have no idea if mine actually leaked or not, but I'm going to go with no because the seals looked good and were quite pliable when I unbolted the whole thing. Like everyone has said, it's YOUR car so do what YOU want with it. I wanted a slick-top so I took mine out. If you want a moonroof, then by all means, put one in
