  1. I have access to have a flange cut on a CNC Plasma. I currently have the cad drawings for a square port header flange which you can run on any head. You have a PM
  2. Please keep us updated with lots of pics! It would be great if you could host them here or on photobucket for those of us not on zcar.com. I love seeing the Z with non-traditional power plants in them I can't wait to see how this turns out!
  3. Pretty sure it hasn't been talked about due to the price of it. I honestly have no idea what the cost of the engine would be, but for a similar price I'm putting money on being able to do an ls1 swap It does look like a beast of a v6 though. I can't wait to see how it performs in the new camaro!
  4. They are great carbs I don't think that I've ever actually read through the whole thing on zTherapy although I have looked at their pics for references multiple times. One thing that really helped me learn about the SU's workings was to search youtube. There were some videos of automotive school classes that were quite useful. The page I linked to gave a basic explanation of carbs in general and then a little detail on multiple kinds. Good to know a little bit about from a lot of what's out there.
  5. While searching for some pics of round top set-ups I stumbled across this article that I hadn't ever seen before. It has a nice little section describing the function of SU carbs that I thought was relatively easy to understand compared to some of the other things I've read. Just thought that it would be good to have for people searching on here so I tried to make the title have a few key words in it. If anyone else has some good information to add, feel free
  6. Now lets see a mock up of the turbo on the collector! Everything is looking great. It's one of my distant goals to make my own exhaust starting at the head and you're doing a great job of it
  7. If you have the space, I would suggest keeping it, but at this time it isn't vital. Make sure your storage methods are going to preserve the block rather than destroy it! A completely rusted unusable block isn't going to add much value to the car in the long run As of now, numbers matching in the Z world has very little significance, but there was also a time when it held no significance in the camaro world. As the overall number of good conditioned cars decreased, values jumped and originality became a factor. My father's '69 camaro would easily be worth 75% more if it had the original engine in it. There were a lot more 240Z's made than first gen camaros, so I wouldn't expect to see as drastic of a correlation, but I would still expect to see the same trend happen, especially as more and more of our cars die to the cancer of rust.
  8. I'm planning on one of these once I get my car up and running with the new engine I want to wire it to my fuel pump and not ignition though.
  9. I was very seriously considering yellow for my car because my engine bay had been sprayed with a single stage "Ferrari Yellow" by the PO. I'm still undecided on my final color, but I ended up covering the yellow with a semi-gloss black just because it will match anything I decide to do, but yellow is only going to lend itself to the same yellow Needless to say, it's a gorgeous color!
  10. Welcome to hybridZ! I would suggest familiarizing yourself with our rules before continuing to post Thanks!
  11. You want a commuter? I still want to see someone shove a D16 under the hood of a lightened 240 to see what kind of mileage it gets
  12. Why not use an adapter plate to run it as is rather than turning it into a t3/t4 hybrid?
  13. Okay, this is going to sound like a bonehead question here, but is your battery good and fully charged? If the cable got popped off while driving it definitely wasn't getting charged up. I wouldn't think that starting the car up would be enough of a strain to kill it, but if your alternator is going out it easily could be. Just something else to eliminate on the list of electrical gremlins
  14. Square port headers can fit onto round port heads, but a round port header onto a square port head is just asking for trouble.
  15. Okay, I'm a liar. Listen to Jerry as his idea is perfect.
  16. Really, the best way to protect your dash would be with a dash mat, but imo they're very ugly. I too scored (free rust free shell with a rebuilt engine on a stand and a perfect dash ) and the PO told me that it was evtremely important to keep it armor all'd on a regular basis. The material the dash is made from has no UV protection so protection from the sunlight is paramount. I plan on using this every time I detail my car and these at least once per week.
  17. So, how much are you paying to buy your own wrecked car back?
  18. I don't remember, but did you have anything done to the car? You're going to need to prove that the car is worth more than what they are going to say it's worth. Probably something along the lines of 4 grand if I had to guess, but I could be completely off.
  19. You telling me that you've never mocked something up without your hood on before? I know I'm definitely guilty of it. I never try to lay down a full bead, but I'll hold something in place and then close my eyes to put down a temporary tack to hold it in place for 37 seconds until I can put down something a little more permanent.
  20. Fuel management is going to be your main issue. megasquirt, throttle body (can't pressurize the stock afm iirc), new injectors, fuel pump, fuel rail, turbo exhaust manifold (is the CT26 a T3 turbo?), down pipe, etc. With that you should be able to get the engine running and tuned. You don't need all of the fuel stuff to get the car running, but you're going to run into issues after a little bit. The actual engine should take 7psi of boost just fine as long as you are meeting all of the demands that the extra stress puts out (see fuel management). I can't remember who specifically, but someone is/was running 17psi on stock n/a internals. Nissan overbuilt these engines like no other. Eventually, your weak link is going to be the cast pistons, but you aren't going to run into that until you crank the boost up quite a bit. Search! The info on what is needed is out there edit: looks like MJLamberson beat me to the punch, but he went about answering your question a little bit differently. You could go with all of the stock l28et stuff, but since you don't have any of it yet I would seriously go with megasquirt. You're going to end up buying it very shortly into your adventure once you get the car running and decide that 7psi isn't enough!
  21. You can run a square port header on a round port head, but not the other way around
