  1. Looks like it will flow much better than the stock one. The 90*s straight from the get-go isn't what I'd classify as ideal Tony, why are they 66% off?
  2. Why didn't you replace the hose when you fixed the nozzle?!!
  3. Yeah, I would go with a new/rebuilt turbo unless you have done one yourself. How much do they want for the rebuild kit? It might not even be salvageable if it's locked up tight. Have you done a compression test on the engine? I wouldn't be dropping and cash into anything until you verify that the engine is even salvageable for a worthwhile cost.
  4. Well, gibe it a good weekend's worth of work to get it running. If you still want to sell it after driving it the extra money it will bring in will be worth your weekend
  5. Well, none of your pictures work anymore
  6. Sounds like it's time to pull that turbo motor after a compression check and move it into something else. It will easily go into any other s130 or into an s30 with light modification (where the shifter comes into the car is a little off, but the center console doesn't need to be destroyed or anything). The 83's had the t-5, correct? That would make it the most desirable turbo swap set up to start out with. My vote is to make sure everything checks out on the motor + tranny, megasquirt it, and then drop it into a car with a better body.
  7. Awesome! It is a lead acid one. I couldn't find my charger in the garage so I'll have to borrow a friends for a night This battery came out of my accord, but it isn't like I'm DDing it right now. Some kids decided that it would be amusing to shoot out my windows with a bb gun. After getting some estimates it's looking like it will be nearly $800 in glass damages alone. I'm not even going to bother with where they hit the metal itself. Damn liability... You can see the sad Z project sitting in the back. I really need to get it licensed and just drive it now.
  8. But if he gets it running he is definitely going to want to keep it! I do agree though, the car will be worth significantly more in running condition. What would you need to have it running and how confident are you in your abilities to get it that way? Too bad you're in WI! I might have been interested in taking it off of your hands
  9. If you put it all back together and get some good gas to see if anything else is wrong, I'm assuming that you could sell it off to someone to help finance your RB swap. Even more so if you were to get it dynoed for the sake of having numbers and a curve to show what they're getting.
  10. Some pictures would be great in helping us see the real condition of the car. You know, one of them is worth a thousand words
  11. What kind of compression are we looking at here?
  12. Personally, I'd just find out how much they want for the whole engine and if it isn't ridiculous get it. Then you can pull the crank where you're comfortable and then sell the parts off of it that you don't want. How much are they asking for the crank? I haven't actually been to a pick and pull myself, so, what condition would they expect you to leave the rest of the block in if you took the crank out there? What kind of condition is the whole car in?
  13. I figured out what it was today guys! I had everything hooked up correctly, but the batt(sends the charge to the battery) cable was grounding out on the body of the terminal. I cleaned up my ground wires and just added a piece of insulation between the ring terminal and the rest of the alternator to keep it from grounding out. I had some electrical tape on there, but I guess it wasn't enough. It feels good to be able to drive the car again! So, does this mean that my battery is completely toasted? I think I'll put it on a trickle charge overnight and see how it is in the morning. There isn't really much else I can do to save it. Thanks for the help!
  14. So, after not having my '79 280ZX up and running for awhile, I finally repaired my alternator (fixed the ground and the batt terminals on it) and installed it in my car. When I put the battery in it there was an abnormally large spark when connecting the ground and a little bit of a funny smell. I assumed that the battery just had a good charge and that it was some of the crud sizzling on my terminal. I stuck the key in the ignition and got no radio. Well, that's weird, whatever. Then I turned the key to start it and got nothing. Not even a crank. I pulled the battery out and stuck it in my accord, but I still got nothing at all from it. I took it down and had it tested at autozone. It is rated for 630 cold crank amps and it had 8 What would cause this to happen to my battery? I don't want to just buy a new battery, stick it in, and have the same thing happen over again. Any ideas?
  15. Wait, you said this was your first system?! It looks great! I agree, a sound clip is necessary.
  16. Simple sarcasm or rudeness, take it for what you want. I'm only trying to help
  17. Could you be a little more vague? I think this might be a little more specific than we are able to answer What are you looking for?
  18. Wow! This looks about a thousand times better than I was expecting it to! Congratz on making a cheap paint job turn out looking so nice. What do you have as far as painting experience? I'm curious to see how it holds up. Would you mind posting follow up pictures as time passes? Like 2 weeks, a month, 3 months, 6 months, a year, etc.? I'd really love to be able to do the same thing to my Z
  19. Personally, I hate mustangs, but I know that is most definitely not a fox. That wing on the Z is absolutely disgusting!
  20. Hey, your bushings look just like mine! What would happen if one of them was to crack completely off and just leave a nice metal on metal joint in the suspension? We wouldn't be looking at a drastic failure, would we? I really need to replace mine, but I think I might just end up pulling the l28e and the 5 speed out of my zx to drop into an s30. Well see where it all goes, but if I end up going that route my bushings will need some serious work
  21. Hot damn that thing looks great! I just messed myself
