  1. Looks cool, but from what i'm seeing it's for motorcycles. Does this mean there are any complications with putting it on a car? (sorry i'm a bit clueless when it comes to gauge swaps).
  2. L28et swap is also always a good way to get some extra horsepower and keep a very compatible motor, especially if you can find one for a decent price. Definitely keep us updated!
  3. Looks good! What are you planning on doing with it?
  4. Is the pressure not going to the left and right brakes or just the right? Check for leaks. You could add some UV glow stuff to the brake fluid to highlight a leak if you think there is one.
  5. Thanks for the tips. As much as I'd love to rip my car apart and pretty much repaint everything, I don't have the luxury of time, space, money, or tools to do so. I realized I forgot to add that I get fog inside of my gauges sometimes while driving. Never really consistent as far as which gauge. I've also seen a drop of water in the bottom driver side corner of the windshield. It's only a single drop when I see it so I don't see it often, and I shrugged it off the last couple of times I did. Now I'm wondering if that is a sign that the water is in fact getting in through the windshield?
  6. I know it's a bit early on, but do you have any idea what the price might be for one of these?
  7. Nice to see you're tackling this. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Good luck with not only this job, but also with school! Quite an undertaking on both accounts. - Pac Man
  8. I would love a dash I could customize and whatnot. I find the stock dash to be a bit too restrictive as far as gauge placement, options, etc. Let's face it, these cars are old, and could use something to pull them further into the present! I'm not an expert of fiberglass, but the concept is relatively easy for me to grasp. The only problem I can see from my point of view is that fiberglass is rather fragile so you might run into issues when separating parts from the mold. *shrug* Then again it might be the muscle relaxants talking hehehe
  9. I actually had this same problem when I got it... unfortunately, I'm not the one who fixed it. However, I've seen tools that you hook into the circuit at where the fuse is and it will send a signal through that circuit and use a detector that will point you to where there is a short (assuming there is one). I've only seen it used on newer cars but i'd imagine you could use it on just about any car... EDIT: I can, however, add that changing out the relays for my turn signals/hazards did not change anything.
  10. I wouldn't mind a new dash style if the price was reasonable... And if you used a mold, you could also make them in carbon fiber!
  11. Welcome to the forum. Nice to see another guy who lives nearby. Always appreciate free info on these cars, so thanks for the detailed documentation! How are you going to mount the 240 style bumpers? I've heard that using the OEM style 240 brackets requires some modification to work properly. - Brandon
  12. I'm interested to hear what MSA says about the kit. My car has the seals from when the car was made so I'd like to replace them with the MSA kit but hearing this I'm hesitant... As far as the speedo goes, I just drove around with my GPS one day and got an idea of where common speeds (35, 45, 60) coincide with where I'm revving in gear. Always an option if you have to drive it without a properly calibrated speedo.
  13. A rule of thumb I like to follow is to replace fluids if you don't know for sure how old they are. They might still be good, but it's a good idea so you can keep track of exactly how old the fluids are. Other than that, you have to start with any issues you might be having. Check for rust, vacuum leaks, filters, gaskets... There are a lot of things you could replace on these cars.
  14. Thanks for the advice. I feel that the leak is coming through the firewall, though. I haven't seen any water leaks through the windshield since I used silicon sealer around the passenger side top corner. Is it difficult to check the firewall for where it may be leaking?
  15. Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the charge light stay off if the car is running and the alternator is working?
  16. That makes sense. I have checked the passenger side but it always seems to be dry. Is there a common place for the driver side to leak through that I could check? There's no space in the garage and I live in the Pacific Northwest so it rains here pretty consistently.
  17. Hi all, I have a '76 280z that's essentially bone stock. When I started driving yesterday, I had a couple drips of water fall on me. Condensation on my windows is nothing new to me, but when I looked up, I noticed that there were a bunch of water droplets hanging on my headliner! They were almost all right above the driver seat. I'm getting the feeling that this isn't normal, and probably isn't very healthy for the headliner. I'm pretty sure I have a leak in the firewall that goes to the driver side floor, but I don't think that would cause it? Do I just have to replace all of the weatherstip gaskets around the car? Thanks, - Pac_Man
  18. I think a big factor in the decision is where you live and the weather/road conditions you drive it in. If you're driving around in the rain all the time, I'd be prone to say fiberglass. If the roads are bad and you think they could crack easily, I would say that's a pro-metal argument. Really it's just up to you and how you think your driving and the area you live in would affect each one.
  19. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum (probably fairly obvious), but I do have an eBay account and am a member of a couple car groups on Facebook from my area. My eBay feedback is 100% positive and I've made purchases ranging from $10 to $750. I will gladly provide references upon request and do whatever I can to make the transaction more comfortable for you. I have a '76 280z, and I'm looking to get some parts to upgrade it asthetically. Here's what I'm looking for: - Air dam (280 style/no turn signal holes) - 240/early 260 bumpers - Adapter brackets for 240 bumpers on a 280 And they're not high on my priority list but if you have hatch window louvers or a rear spoiler I might be interested in those if they price is right. I'm also hoping to upgrade my exhaust system with headers and a new exhaust system, so the same thing applies for that. You can PM me here and/or email me at hpotency@hotmail.com. - Brandon
