Thanks for the posts. I went to the Z Store to see if they have what I need. Will this be all I need: Or are there other pieces of hardware I'd need on top of this?

Hi everyone, I've been having some issues with my door that I'm trying to fix but frankly I need some help with what I can actually do to fix it. I made a video showing and telling the issues I have: My hope was some folks on here could watch it and give me some guidance as to what exactly is wrong and how to fix it. Thanks, - Pac Man

Check the hood to see if the color code is still there and legible, then google s30 color codes or look at a thread here on HybridZ that has them (I'm sure I've seen one I just don't remember where).

If you have to raise the idle to avoid stalling you need to learn how to drive it lol. Learning with a crutch will only make it harder later.

Lol, hopefully this is the first and last time i see a 280zx steering wheel on an S30. Good decision removing the bumpers.

Oliver is a knowledgeable guy... likes to tell stories, too. Unfortunately I can't afford to hand him my car and ask him to wave his wand and give it back in tip-top shape after a couple weeks. I'm trying to figure out my door situation but it's a genuine PITA.

I've heard that the synthetic leak deal has gotten a lot better in recent times with improvement of those synthetics.

If you're just looking for the look of CF, there are carbon fiber styled vinyl wraps that are pretty popular and any local shop that does tint and wraps should have. If you mean getting a layer of carbon fiber over the existing interior, that would be more involved and probably require the interior to be removed and covered separately.

Update on this: I ended up just removing the window and regulator from the door. Found out that the gear had come off the crank which wasn't helping in putting it back together. Upon looking at the door handle, I noticed that the piece with the white adjustment nut on it was hanging loose. I can't figure out where exactly it should be or how to get it back in place. It also seems like pulling the handle should lower that piece, but it doesn't. Also now the inside door handle works but hangs loose when it's not being pulled on. Any idea how to fix this?

I've read about ZDDP additives, and there are a couple mainstream oils that have high ZDDP levels that I know of: Valvoline VR-1 and Amsoil. I believe both are synthetic, but I'm not positive on the Amsoil. I currently have Castrol GTX High Mileage which I believe is part synthetic. Getting about 16mpg with 10w-40 but switching to 10w-30 full synthetic VR-1 soon so hopefully I'll see some benefits.

I haven't heard anything about extenders for the s30 seatbelts, but I recently saw a thread where someone swapped in 240sx seatbelts and was able to use extenders for that. I suppose it's a possibility if you can't find any for S30 belts.

Alright, cheers. The source of the window problem was actually my own stupidity of unbolting the regulator and having the window fall in... It was sticking before and I kind of got in and started unbolting things. Guess I'll think it through more next time. Oh well, I'm learning as I go.

Thanks. I'll check the handle to see if anything has broken. I had a feeling the adjustment nut needed to be tightened because sometimes I would have to pull on the handle a couple times to open the door, but with the handle possibly broken I couldn't really verify that. As for the window, I was wondering if I'd have to remove one of those rails. So if I'm reading this correctly, you're saying I should remove the two guides that are bolted onto the door? Because I was actually able to get both of the rollers on the top of the window to slide into their rails, but then I couldn't get the lower one into place. Should I do it with the regulator mechanism bolted to the door or should I remove it?

Once you see that I wrote how I've already looked through threads, you'll realize that I've already tried searching and looking for info. If it was as simple for me as looking at it and figuring out, I would have done it by now because I've spent a good few hours trying to get it back on. But thanks for the tips, despite the condescending tone.

Hi all, Not too long ago, the exterior door handle on my '76 280z stopped opening the door. When I pull on it, it seems that one side pops out a bit from the door itself. The interior handle works fine, however. Also, I'm trying to figure out how to get the window regulator rollers back onto the rails. I've gone through threads, my chiltons and haynes manuals, and general google searches but can't find any specific info on how it should get re-mounted. Any tips? Thanks, Pac-Man

Let me know how the Kia weatherstripping is... a source would also be great. My car could definitely use it.

^ Seems like fuel cell boxes are fairly popular and not too difficult to install in a Z car. I don't know anything about different brands and such but it seems like a good upgrade for the price.

Very cool, that's a lot of power from a 1jz.

That 260 looks like it's in pretty good shape visually. As for the frame rails, if you can see them through the floor pan inside the car you'll know something's wrong. You'll have to jack the car up and look underneath it as far as I know.

Depends on where you're living, really. A big factor isn't just humidity, but also distance from large bodies of salt water. If you live somewhere that tends to get a lot of salt spray, you can bet that rust would be worse there. Of course that's not to say that anywhere near the ocean will have cars that rust out after driving to work. If luck is on your side, you'll find a car that's been garaged most of its life while not being driven. EDIT: And yes I know I'm not from the UK (though I probably wouldn't mind it), but hopefully you'll find my information helpful in some way.

Interesting. It seems that this is best left to a custom machining shop after you have gotten the engine/transmission and differential bolted into place?

I'm also interested in knowing this. It's difficult to find an organized list of things you need to buy/modify for the swap.

Black Dragon Automotive headlight question
Pac_Man replied to Boog's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Can't help you with that, but I did recently help my friend install HID bulbs into his Z and they're super bright. Might be another option to consider. -
I like having a glove box, but this is your custom dash so I'd do what you want.

This is going to be one hell of a car... very impressed.
