  1. Now I know why all the master cylinder bleeders blow fluid onto the fender wells..............They were made for RHD, and still are. Thanks.
  2. To confirm; you pressureized the crankcase by putting air into the valve cover. (not a good idea to use high pressure as you could blow seals and gaskets) Oil poured out of the coolant inlet??? You need to supply pictures.......
  3. "My recent favorite... http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.p...29&postcount=6 " When did Corky get a Z???
  4. Beat the illiterate imbeciles! Unmercifully!
  5. "You people need to be dragged out into a busy street and shot." Personaly, I think a humiliating ass beating would be sufficient.......Leaves room for improvement......
  6. I happen to like multiple ????. I think it adds emphasis, and hopefuly communicates a confused and or, an intense interest.
  7. Like, how do you stop your ears from bleeding???
  8. I have been seeing a very disconcerting trend. BAD ADVICE!!! I've been seeing a lot of noobs asking some very basic questions. I've also seen a few more seasoned members asking questions that need some common sense/research. The bad part comes when members offer advice off the cuff/or with severe lack of knowledge. Bad, Bad, and wrong. For the good of novices, who have a lot to learn, intermediate who have a bit to learn, and experienced guys, who know they don't know everything, this should stop. Unless you know your attempted suggestion is factual, don't offer it as such!!! The last thread I contributed to, suggested a guy rebuild his engine.Take a look!!! It's very nice to help......but,,,, DON"T OFFER BAD ADVICE/CONJECTURE.. Some members need to reflect on their level of EXPERIENCE prior to attempting to help others. Requests for credentials will be met with relevant experience/schooling/etc. BTW....I worked on 8 different cars today. AND I also destroyed an engine today as part of the clunkers for cash program.........Tommy
  9. Leaking injectors, fuel pressure regulator, or fuel pump diaphragm. Running very rich. These are the things I would check/rule out FIRST.
  10. What are you doing Sunday? I probably have what you need.
  11. When I lived in NYC in the 70's, my first motorcycle, and my first car were stolen. A pretty sickening feeling. You have my sympathy. Maybe some sort of alarm/tether to the building. Very easy to construct/engineer, easy to make foolproof. Making things SECURE should ease your mind
  12. Swap plugs 5&6. See if the problem moves. Also try the wires. Certainly could be injector/electrical. Swap injectors. Stuck valve?
  13. Hey Dave, My budy talked to his boss. They're interested in your job.(the shop is a little slow) Let me know if you have an interest.......or how your progressing with the Ins.co/body shop.
  14. I have seen a couple of engines aspirate water into the intake. This resulted in a bent/distorted rod. No outward signs of damage were visible. Had a slight miss on start up. Ran pretty good otherwise. Poorly executed/planned cold air intakes can cause this. I have also seen customers who think their cars are amphibious!!!
  15. That location is acceptable. The cable end at the - terminal probably should be cleaned up. Make sure you have a good ground from battery - to the body. Also a heavy ground strap from the engine to the body. Let me stress......Every connection should be clean and tight. Secure the battery when your done.
  16. Take more pictures, and send them to me. Did you notice if the door gaps have changed??? This would indicate unibody shift/damage. Ask the body shop where the actual damage is. What are they going to do to your car to fix it???
  17. Hey Dave, My budy looked at the pics. He laughed at the $8,800.00 estimate. He has no problem looking at your car, and giving you his professional opinion. Also, he thinks it's a minor hit, and even if he had to put the car on a caroliner to correct door gaps....it would be a piece of cake.
  18. "with the twin 1.5" losing 50% over a 3"!" I DID THE MATH....iT'S ALMOST EXACTLY 1/2 THE CROSS SECTIONAL AREA. It suprised me too. area of a circle= pi r squared
  19. IMHO. Pack up all the parts. Drive it some where else, upon a reputable recommendation,or.... My Budy down the street, who you may have met, is in the buisiness. (The guy with the 40 chevy's) can give you a fair estimation of the damage. COST TO REPAIR SOUNDS/LOOKS TO HIGH !!!!!!........ TO ME.
  20. First off......It does.... The alternator continues to output voltage/current. The "open circuit" causes elevated output. As to the how and why???? I would also have to google for a technical explaination. It's been a long time since I read that article.(decades)
  21. Most cars will run with the battery disconnected. I would NOT do it on my car. You can easily damage the alternator. Voltage spikes/over voltage can also cause damage to electronics. I don't do it on customers cars either. Some of the other mechanics at my shop do, to save time. Use a voltmeter to check your charging system properly.
  22. Dave, if you didn't file a complaint/ issue a summons to the driver, it's time. That is assuming you haven't exceeded any time limits for the complaint.. Just because a cop doesn't issue a ticket, doesn't mean you can't. Getting a conviction/guilty finding from the judge gets you on your way to making him financialy resposible to you. His insurance company then covers him up to his limits of liability. Then it's on him. I've been down this road. Back in '86 when some clown ran a red light and totaled my '68 GTO conv., I wrote him a ticket, (cop couldn't, didn't see accident ) Initial ins. offer...$300.00....SETTLED....$4500.00 WRITE HIM UP COWBOY.
  23. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=145971&highlight=roadforce&page=2
  24. Rotational mass is irrelevant in causing vibration.. If anything, a heavier weight tends to dampen vibrations,(one reason why flywheels are heavy). Imbalance, runout, (axial and radial),(both rim and tire), ROADFORCE., concentricity, and other tire /wheel maladies, are your most likely issues. Was a ROADFORCE type balancer used for this last rebalance? What were the numbers???
