iskone, last time that i drove my z was about 7 months ago but when when it ran it rode just fine for me. i had adjustable struts and with soft coilovers so in my opnion ride was very nice car looked like it was slammed but it had plenty of ground clearance. in front i am running 225/45 and in the back 245/45 (but i could fitt 255 under there just fine). here are link to some of my pictures so you can see how it looks http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/439204 Ivan

PLEASE HELP ME KEEP MY CAR! (struts)
Ivan280zt replied to zero's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
zero, if it comes down to it i have four spare gland nuts (brand new) and perfectlly working wiper motor that you can have just pay s&h. as for taking struts off yes it is much easier to take the whole control arm with it. i have done my suspension so many times that i can take everything off including pulling strut out in less than 20min. . Anyone Running 18's???
Ivan280zt replied to TomsCoupe's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
datsunlover ok real quick. no clerance issues what so ever. yes it did take some work to get them to fit but nothing outstanding. i had to convert to five lug (could have bought them in four but i wanted extra strenght of five) and coilovers which was done before i even tought about wheels. wheels used to cost about $250 a piece i got them for $440 brand new shipped from cali to alabama so there is no way i was gonna turn that down . i guess to each its own (or something like that ). Anyone Running 18's???

Real quick. tannji, yeah that was the guy with camera in talon who said that (driver missed second thats why i took off so nice ) fl327, i know what you mean about keeping rubber i was talking to friend of mine yesterday (pallnet) and he is going to sell me two 16x8 conquest wheels so i can have some d/radials for track. haltech was great until i took the whole car apart it always ran great no problems at all. hmmm weekly kill video sounds damn good to me i just need week or two more to get my car together but we are keeping it real in chitown with my friend garretts turboz on drag radials 24/7. lots of nice and new cars have gone down to that beast she might not be pretty but she sure does bust some a$$ lol. FL327, on the side note do you want to start "Z ricer racers"? here is my contiribution http://home.comcast.net/~240drifter/steve2.wmv first race is second gen awd talon (very much not stock ) vs. evo8 and then its me vs. same talon. this was about year ago when i just got my z running with haltech no i/c and t-3 at 10psi. let me know what you think . Jon, you didn't piss me off i apologize if i sounded that way. i have a great deal of respect you and other road races on the board you guys do really know you stuff when i comes down to getting z ready for some twisties sp. i guess that i was just trying to point out that my car was not built for that. i take great pride in my car that is my life work (sad but true heh) and calling my wheels rice tells me that my car is rice and i guess that makes me ricer crap lol. i guess not much i can do about that now except keep saving my money for 17x12 ccw's or should i go with 16x12 so i can fall out of ricer category . Anyone Running 18's???
Ivan280zt replied to TomsCoupe's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Ok this is getting intersting now let see how this started: 1. Guy asks question if anyone is running 18's and what they have to say. 2. Someone then posts picutres of various Z's with 18's (so far we are on topic). 3. Then third guy comes in (with no experince in Z with different size wheels) and tells how in his opinion bigger wheels are rice (now its getting off topic). 4. I then come in (have experience with 18's) and i try to defend myself by explaining that my car is NOT drag or road race car but just plain street car that gets driven ehhh about 3k miles a year. 5.Now guy comes in and tells about civic on 18's (dont know how you can compare civic to z?) and he totally misses post about me saying that my car is NOT road race car. 6.By now we are so much off this topic and i really belive we should change it to "Whats Rice and Whats Not" . datsunlover Sorry man i just took you response very personal because one thing that i despise is rice. You see i asked you if you have driven "Z" not some other car and there is plenty off difference in riding in civic on 18's and riding in z on 18's. i have driven both so i know that at least. You also said that most of things start with things you can just bolt on do you realize HOW MUCH it took to get those wheels on? there is no such thing as bolt on for our cars (figure of speach). If you think that z with 15's ride harsh then all i can say is that you need to ride in more z's preferablly sp in one with nice suspension setup. Friend of mine has same wheels on his z and previous driver has used that car as dailly driver. He eneded up putting thousands of milles and still no dings and bent wheels they still look like brand new. As you said whatever floats your boat. Drax240z as i already mentioned i have 240z suspension (car is 280z) with sectioned struts so there is plenty of suspension travel. RPMS You are kidding me about you definiton of rice right? Go to the first page and look again at my car and look at it good. Now if i told you that those were 17's could you tell the difference if they were on not? most likelly not. So now are we gonna call every z with 17's rice also? because then that would be very large number of z's. Ivan -
Anyone Running 18's???
Ivan280zt replied to TomsCoupe's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Tim, i know what you are saying trust me there is horsepower to back this up . for breaks i have toyota callipers with z31 rotors (but i might go with JSK setup or similliar) and for the back i have disk conversion with z31 rotors also. i would also like to add that i am running 240z suspension that has been sectioned all the way around with tokico struts and as far as wheels go i paid $440 for all four of them shipped (gotta love discontinued wheels on wherehouse clearance ) but tires were about $140 a piece . Those are some mighty nice Z's looks like it was a good turn out but i would just like to point out that somone put your steering wheels on wrong side wow talk about being punked j/k bud. Ivan

Anyone Running 18's???
Ivan280zt replied to TomsCoupe's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
TomsCoupe i guess i call it that because i am putting it back together and not driving it yet . datsunlover ehhh well if you think that my car is rice bucket because i have 18's thats ok i guess everyone has right to express their opinion. you said that you "would" go with 15's or 16's on your car so that tells me that you have neither so i guess that you have 14's on there now right? i just wonder did you ever drive Z with 18's, 17's, or 16's? do you have experince behind the wheel with all three of them so that way you can classiffy sp which one is rice and which one is not? and on other hand what is so "bling bling, gotta have big rims" about 18 inch tsw $140 wheel that is not even cromed or polished? i guess that i just like to stand out in something with my Z and those wheels do get some very nice comments and none of them has been about "how rice they are". btw are my 245-40's gonna be labeled as rice too? This is the way i see it. If you have 15's and want your car to be nice and low (no fender gap) you will have to lower it down quite a bit and by that time your front air dame will be touching ground almost the same with 16's. the reason why i went with 18's is because i wanted to lower my car (but not too much) fill all the fender gap so now car "looks very low" but actually its only about 2inches lower than stock. ride is great, it handells great, does't bottom out so what else can i ask for? this is not road race car or drag car but just plain all around street car. I apologize about long rant but i just wanted to say how i felt about my car being called rice . Ivan -

To be honest you really dont want your car that low. My front was way too low (you can see it touching grass ) so i took it up about 1inch up front and 1 1/4 in the back. Ivan
