guys with autometer gauges, LED bulbs are badass!
Ivan280zt replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
Ok guys here is the result: Oval wide angle is NOT the way to go for autometer gauges. I put first one on my electric water temp gauge and difference was just plain amaizing beautifull color and much brighter and clear (but not really really bright). Next on i put on my boost gauge and it actually came out worst than stock bulbs. Angle is wide but actuall bulb nose is sitting in too deep so basicly to get it to work right you have to loosen the clip (that plugs in the back of gauge) and pull it out slightly then it works ok but not practial at all basiclly you would have to keep the bulb somewhat loose and TAPED to gauge. In my opinion it would be better to go with Inverted Lenses (type) because they throw light from sides and thats the way autometer gauges work best or if money no issue then just go with 5LED Matrix Bulbs for $7 a piece those would most likely work the best. Mike, Thanks for link bro i just ordered 12 of green ones. I just hope that they work fine on my phantom series gauges because i could really use more light on my outside gauges. Ivan -

I have spent few bucks with MSA over past few years and i never had a single issue. Every part that i ordered came in within few days and it was always right part. Never had an issue with customer service or tech support so nothing but good things from me about their business. Ivan

Well i started run in third gear at 2k and i let of split of second later numbers were like 135hp and 220 on torque. However it sure did sound nice lol. I will get new numbers with msd box first thing next week. Ivan

Man what a crappy day. Everything started off well got the car on dyno first thing this morning and it made 231 whp and 245 ft.lbs with 10psi on T-3 but something was up with dyno wideband so a/f curve looked all funky and crap lol but from previous datalogs on LM-1 afther 4k i am at 10:8 to 1 and yes Mike we got that same dynojet that you guys have. Afther those pases i leaned it out by 5% from 1.5k to 4k and from 4k to 7k 10% ( no i dont shift at 7k lol). At the same time i added manual boost controller but since i got big hands i had guy from my group put on vacuum hose from external wastgate to boost controller. Then we had some stupid a$$ presentation from Hot Rod Magazine so we lost like hour plus some in which time i could have made two more passes but no biggie i am thinking i can still make two more passes by end of the day. So right before end of the class its our turn to dyno but first thing we had to do is dial in boost controller to 15psi. So i get third gear roll on and i go wot and bang 22psi (for about split second). So we turn the boost controller all the way down do the same thing all over another try bam 22psi and it wanted to keep going. At this time we are running out of time so i tell the same guy that hooked up my vaccum line to go and unhook boost controller and we were going to run it at 10psi that wastegate is set at. So finally i am on my way in third gear i go wot (i assumed that everything was ok so i was looking at my fuel pressure gauge) then real quickly i glanced at boost gauge and that thing got pegged out 30+psi so i let go of gas but not afther some funky a$$ noises came from my exhaust lol. At this time i am not to happy i pop the damn hood and i take the look at my hoose from external wastegate to compressor housing and it turns out that my dumm *** friend hooked up vacuum hose in wrong port on wastegate so there was nothing to control the damn thing. Everything came out good and nothing blew up and i cant blame him for messing up because i really did't show him which exact port to hook it up (i forgot that its kinda hard to see) so he pluged it in the one that kinda looked obvious. Not really to bad of day except that on the way home i ran out of gas (no fuel gauge lol) but my MSD 6AL will be here today and next tuesday i belive we have lab day so that gives me few days to dial it in and hope that my clutch dont give up in meantime because i am pretty sure that i did not enjoy those 30psi +. So time has finally come to go and put my piece of s##t on dyno and since class that i am in right now is street legal performance (UTI) i have access to dyno. I dont get to tune it on dyno but i can squeze in two passes every two hours and about six passes in whole day. I am guessing that my base line will be about 230-240 whp with 10psi (spikes to 12) and thats with about 10:8 to 1 a/f at wot. Afther i make base line pass if everything goes well and nothing blows up i will FINALLY change my fuel settings to about 11:8 to 1, put the boost controler on and set it to about 15-16 psi at which i hope to hit about 270 whp. Once again if everything goes good i will turn the boost down to 12 psi and take it to the track (i still have stock OEM turbo clutch but it has been really holding well). My previous 1/4 mile was 13.2 107mph 2.0 60' on 18's (drag radials are next lol). I will most likely update tomorow night when i get of work. Wish me luck guys. Ivan

As a valet driver at upscale steakhouse i have gotten my fair share of exotic cars and so far i belive they include: 360 spyder, 575 moranello sp (about five times), bentley continental gt (holly s##t that thing was bad as##), new bentley avalante or some crap like that (same car several times), hand full of 911 tt, but cream of the crop happend saturday night when one of my biggest vip's rolled in 2006 Murceilago sp Rodster (only 8 in USA) ohhh yeah and it had whopping 125 milles on it and most of them were put on testing grounds in Itally. My buddy Garrett76zt stoped by that night and he saw me driving that bad boy now talk about adreline rush there is nothing like firing that v-12 with driver door pointing up . I am pretty sure that there are few more that i just plain forgot about but this summer i am going to work at crazy bussy restaurant in one of the richest parts of Chicago and there is nothing in there but very very young rich kids so there will be plenty of exotics lol. Matt we all know that you are super duper baller and $$$$$$$ is no issue for ya hehehehe. Ivan

Matt, Well i really cant help you out with harness issue buddy but i can tell you that you dont have to worry about GLD tech. To be honest with that hillbilly sp track NHRA dont mean s##t you just bring your $25 and thats all the tech inspection that you need lol. From several times that i have raced there i dont remember poping my hood single time for tech lol. Ivan

Auto program alone costs 21k plus interest. Btw you better take it VERY SERIOUS if you want to learn anything and be very agressive about it. FYI if you want to get into manufacturer program (Jag, Bmw, Benz...) forget what they told you about requirements to get in one (ex. 3.0 GPA, 97% attendance, no field experince required...). I will tell you right now if you get to get into better program you will need at least 3.7 Gpa (thats on low side), attendance at 98-99% and six months of field experience and on top of that you will have to pass i belive its 120 questions entrance exam with ASE style questions. On the side note if you are 1min. late for class they are marking you out of 1/4 hour so dont forget how fast that add's up. Btw you can miss about 4-5 days in year and that will bring your attendance to 97-98% so before you potentionally throw your money away just think how hard you want this? I wanted it pretty hard so i moved 900 milles from home, i work full time and my usuall day is from 5:15am to 12:30am and with all that i have 4.0 gpa and 100% attendance which means that in almost five months that i have been going there i have not missed a single minute of school so keep that in your mind. I apologize for long post but when you get there you will see how many idiots go there and how easy its to get caried away. Hope that this gives you some idea about what you are to get into. Ivan
