  1. Cody I will be running stock turbo for while and i just like the way that stock bolts go in and i dont like tightning ARP's too much. I will put them on my next motor. Gabe Yeah i hope so but i was planning to come back home around that time so will see . Ivan
  2. Update Lets go from beggining. I took the front cover off day or two ago and i found out that front cover gasket was on there nice and tight and there was no evidence of any kinda of leak. Tonight i went to take my head off because i am replacing metal headgasket with stock nissan one tomorow because i just wasnt too excited about it and i also had to take the head off just to see if any of cylinder walls have gone south . So i started taking my intake manifold and in the back i have all my vacum lines hooked up (i have sheet metal intake manifold from James T.) and as i took my first one off (bottom one facing firewall) WATER starts coming out. My first tought was WTF is this crap i dont have a single thing attached to the intake manifold that has water going through it . Well once i got the both manifolds off head came off. Looking from the top headgasket looked just fine no traces of any leakage so at this time i am really getting woried. First thing that i noticed is that 1-5 pistons are nice and black while #6 is clean as brand new. So now i am was really stuned. At #6 cylinder there is major water pasage and #6 is the only one thats clean so next thing was off course go and take headgasket off. Thats when things got very interesting. When i pulled it off there was nice dark spot going from #6 cylinder to water passage so there was where my water and oil were mixing. Man i really dont like this damn metal gaskets. I took my head and block to maching shop to get deck checked both came out good. Then i sprayed both sides of gasket with coper spray (nice and thick) and on top off that i used ARP head studs and crap still leaked. When my headgasket comes in tomorow i am going to put that thing in with stock head bolts for now and if for some reason that thing is still leaking (hey you never know ) i am going to get new motor (as soon as i win lottery lol). Thanks for helping out guys. Sam Whats up lazy bum . Man i am loving that size for new work space. Yeah two jobs suck but have to get one more this friday . Yeah i am staying with my cousing and its tight man i have whole basement to myself (ok and siberiang sp husky lol). Yeah i definitelly want to see that header now it should look nice once you get it all wraped up too. If i get my car running within coulple of days i will most likely swing down to your place to see if i have any long distance realiability lol (note to myself get numbers for towing companies outside of Chicago). I will give you call when i get ready to head out that way. Ivan
  3. Yeah that sure was nice pic of wheel stand i belive that he got "award" for most violent wheel stand . Ivan
  4. Thanks for quick replys guys. So should i ever bother doing leak down test on motor and coolant system or should i get bussy with head gasket? How much did you guys torque your metal head gaskets too? J. Soileau 74260zt Did you use just regular silver paint from auto store and whats the exact process that you used when appying paint if you dont mind telling me. Thanks, Ivan
  5. Wow that was quick . I am pretty sure that its not coming anywhere near water pump because i am using front cover from my old motor and water pump never came off it. That same front cover and water pump never gave me problems on old motor but however i did not put my old motor together by myself LOL. Ivan
  6. First the specs: unknown condition f54 bottom end, my good p90, metal 1mm head gasket with copper spray on both sides, and ARP head studs torqued to 65 pounds. Here is the story. I just got my motor running and afther about 15min of idleing and one quick ride around block (no boost 3k shifts) i pulled in garage and noticed that its smoking from exhaust much more than usually ( compering to old motor). I figure its because of map on haltech (wayyyy to rich) but i remembared that it only really smoked when i was WOT and not that much at idle. So me and buddy go and check the compression and its about 140 all across. Its same as when i did the test before i started the motor for the first time. When i looked at my dipstick there was nice coat of antifreeze in oil so now i am really wondering where its mixing water with oil. I will be doing leak down test on motor and coolant system tomorow but if the motor comes out to be okay where could there be problem. Buddy of mine told me that its not unusual for water to mix somwhere at timing cover because there is water pasage very close to oil pasage and i only used copper spray on that gasket and no sealant. So my question is has this happed to anyone before and what can i do about it. Option of burnning the whole damn car fell through afther one beear on empty stomach . I am open for suggestions. Ps. i really was't to happy about using metal head gasket to begin with. Ivan
  7. Gabe, Well the one that came from Napa turns out to be right one to begin with . One from Nevada is hmmm i dont think that jesus knows what the hell they sent me so that junk is going back and i will keep the one from Msa when it comes is as a spare one. Man i REALLY want to come back home but i just got done moving and right now i am adjusting to living with relatives lol but if everything works out and i get my summer job back then yes i will be coming home end of the summer before i start the school and i will stay for few weeks. i will be bringing the z because there is certain silvia i want to hang on my trophy wall . Ivan
  8. Great news guys MSA OWNZ me . Somehow somwhere they found the seal and even better news is that it will be at the house by friday so that way i might just drive the car by sunday (week later of course ). Thanks alot for your help guys. Btw dont bother calling them for another one this was definitelly THE LAST ONE. Nissan sucks Msa rulles . Ivan
  9. I called Drivetrain.com today and they had that seal for $4 and $25 for that extension brass??? seal that i also dont have so all together came out $29 which is same price that nissan was selling it for. Tommorow seal that i ordered from Napa will be in and this one will be in friday so one of them better work or i am really gonna go nuts . So all together not bad i am broke as a joke but i just spent $10 for wrong part from nissan, $19 for Napa one, and $35 for one from drivetrain.com so all together $64 for $29 part i am freaking genius . I the end i really dont care as long as one of these damn things work because when i take my POS for first ride it will all be forgoten . Ivan
  10. I ordered this today and it will be here in two days http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/NAPAonline/search_results_part_num.d2w/report When we looked in napa book it listed this part only for 82 and 83zx but it didnt say turbo or not so i went along with it because they can get it quick and it costed $17 which it twice the price of n/a seal so i hope thats the right one. Cody 82 ZXT Part # is 13958 i will call Motion industries and see what they can do with that # but i would really like to have part number off of the seal itself. This is really killing me i just got my car put together afther eight months and now this seal has been holding me for almost two weeks . Ivan
  11. Moby, Yes when i went to Napa they said that they can get it but afther dealing with chain stores i am just woried that i will have to wait whole week for wrong part . There is plenty bearing shops around here including Motion Industries (they deal with ALOT of companies) but every time you call someone they always need # off of seal or they need to see it in person so that way they can match it. Problem is that i dont have either of two. So no # and no part in my hands it looks like i will have to gamble again and go with Napa. Thanks for quick reply bud. Ivan
  12. Well i have spent last few days trying to find rear transmission seal for my turbo t-5 tranny. I went to nissan (lets say more than one ) and finally when i found one that actually gave a damn about what i was looking for my my suprise (or not) i found that they no longer have any seals for 82-83 280zx turbo tranny but 84 of course is still available but to my suprise they wont interchange . So far i have checked auto zone (ahahahhaah what i joke and waste of time), carquest (dont even aks about that one), and finally napa which they have one and its $17 which price wise is very close to right part but it would take like forever to get it to the store. So now i am wondering is there anyone who had same problem and has found place that sells them. Any help would be great btw wc t-5 and 300zx t-5 all use different size rear seals so they wont work. Thanks, Ivan
  13. Heh same thing happend to me about two weeks ago i managed to strip two out of six hooles and afther trying few things i just got right size tap ( 12x1.25 i belive if interested i can check for sure) and in it went with no problem. it took some patience and time for sure but very very simple to do. Ivan

  15. Oh man i cant belive that vette is actuall car it looks like picture to me . I have one of those nissan hoods molded into 70 240z hood. My uderside has acutally been cut out so that makes the hood fully functional. I drove the car is Alabama summer and i had problems just trying to keep the car to run at normal temps but it usually ran about 10 to 15 deg. cooler so i think that hood was doing its job . JohnC, Every so often i get emails about people asking me where they can get hood like my at and unfortunelly sp i really can't help them out because i dont know of anyone making them maybe that could be something for you to look into? Here are few pictures of it Ivan
