The grass is always greener huh? This was in an article I read a few years back, from an SCCA racer who switched to a 240Z and wanted parts from Japan. It is odd, that Mr.K was enthusiastic about racing, I thought I understood he tried to help but was seen as a rebelious-racer boy by others at Nizzan. I'll see if I can dig up that magazine, it may be available online also, I think I would have saved it but I'm not sure.

Most tripple setups dont have chokes. It might offer more "tunability" than EFI, but EFI is known to produce more TQ across the range than carbs, this may though be due to poor setup, and/or maybe just poorer atomization. Once you start adjusting carbs it can be tough to maintain an even AF across the board, and to achieve it you will have to change more than just jets, because the linearity of the carb will be ruined when straying from factory specs, so air tubes etc must be swapped also for best results.

I would avoid GM Sports Salvage, they have a bad rep locally...

Maybe they thought it would work for aero testing...

Exotic Erotic ball costume?... -
That thing has to weigh an embarrasing amount though, how about a 427 iron block LS1 instead Vette guys are getting 31-33 MPG on the freeway (stock cams of course), and they are not running any fancy 4-6-8 stuff

Same as Turbonetics looks like http://www.turboneticsinc.com/comp_maps/fig4.html

Right, since its a Japanese car, Europe had FIA racing though, so Japan knew that they actually cared about road racing. There were people in the states very early on that were interested in racing the 240, and my understanding is did not get alot of cooperation from Nissan higher-ups as far as factory support, or help in getting better parts, I forget the complete story but there were only a small group of people in Nissan that genuinly loved racing. So the belief is, they looked down thier nose at us somewhat, after all what did Americans do back then, build bigger and bigger engines/cars and drag race. FWIW the early 5 speed, according to the Haynes are the same ratios as the 5 speed that the 240 cars got overseas years before we had it.

I would not exactly say much more power, ultimately yes if you rebuild the 350, but most 350 engines wont take more than about 450 HP before I'd start getting nervous, and on some of the 80s stuff that is probably pushing it. LT1 I know can be taken to around 600HP with some freaking good luck, but I would not push one past 550 HP without expecting something to break, at best only the rods will bend and nuke the engine, if not a number of things dying. Anyhow, the way to answer this is what do you want. Turbo engine can be taken to over 400 HP on stock internals, I have heard 500HP is doable but who knows. However, to get there you'd have to go to an aftermarket computer, or else run pig rich at idle/low throttle, or maybe hack up a solution like a rheostat to the AFM, or a 300ZXT computer with ECCS, Megasquirt (cheap, but some work involved), etc etc I also like the fact that you can to some degree, scale your HP in chunks, which serves my road racing fantasy quite well, since I wont need to be swapping cams every 4 months or so for the next chunk of HP, you can up the boost, upgrade the turbo, and so on. What I like about the L6 turbo, is it slips right in, mates with the trans, no custom driveshaft needed, and if you stay out of boost most of the time your gas mileage will rock compared to an equal HP V8, if the V8 is NA. So to get a car right into the high 13/low 14 area (if 240Z), toss in a turbo L6, no real hassle, fancy cooling mods or anything like that involved. There are plusses to both I suppose, if you want over 400-500 HP then you probably want a V8 built up for it, but for that extra power you will pay $$$ for it.

If you want it to hold the power, then yes. The WC is the strongest T5 (stock) at 330# TQ I believe, the normal one is rated for 300#, the 6 cylinder stuff is weaker.

If the car doesn't start and the timing light shows funky readings, flip the diz 180º

It would have been cheaper to just buy a turbo engine, as opposed to building up an engine for the turbo. My 70k mile donor turbo car was $150, rear main seal looks new.

I think that this guy may be in for a surprise

Crap, are you kidding, 6x Camaro with no front clip sitting out in a hayfield for 10 years will fetch $2500 at least, I saw one just a couple months ago. I am sort of considering one still, but I think I'm getting a C5, I want one so badly right now 99-00 FRC. Of course cars like this sway my opinion all over again -
Star boyz? Sorry, but I work with 4 gay guys and a lesbian, and I say that fits in with the profile.

No camera trickery? Its CGI so far as I know. Some people who know about Rube Goldberg devices think it may be doable, but there are probably at least 5 scenes that look fake to me, starting with the first gear rolling not looking koshier. Again its CGI so far as I know, and I have no reason to disbelieve it unless Honda claims otherwise.

what companies make after market heads

Maybe if you could make friends with someone who has a CNC machine, it would still be ALOT of work and some duckets. -
Since 240 guys can change back and forth with one diz to another, I see no reason to think they are any different, are you noticing any interferance?

Canfields might have more meat for porting, I have heard that AFRs out of the box do not match what they claim, but I dont know first hand. When Canfield made stuff for the late model LT1 it was considered "the best" in terms of what could be done flow wise with runner size vs AFRs runner size, but the market wasn't there and they are NLA.

1000 lbs/Tourque, what rear-end (for road racing).
Mudge replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Start with a platform thats half way there, I like the Z but what your trying to do is like polishing a turd, but if you have the money there is "no limit." -
haha, crap, I thought it was angled like a mother. That must be the 1000 HP V16 that wont see the market, because the car cost $250,000, sorry Bob Lutz

I like the blond who is holding her # upside down heh, some of those "women" have boy hips and asses, too scrawny for me.

Straight 8? Moves the weight too far forward for me.

I'm looking to get into one in a few months, the Z06 gets a "different" transmission, but other than the ratios I dont know if its a genuinly stronger transaxle (not a T56 ). As for Jerico, I know someone that worked for them, and if you get a good trans or not is really a tossup, some stories behind that one With that much power, your going to be hitting such insane speeds, that there is serious danger of a huge accident, and when you do actually keep the car straight you are going to be needing some $4500 brakes I think, there are some nice Porsche 6 piston kits online for various cars that seem to work well. If you get enough wheel for it, you can get around a 15" rotor under there. After even only a 200HP upgrade in my other car, I am a firm believer in taking things in steps, without experience its going to be not only ugly but dissapointing in a huge way, so I can only assume you are coming from a "too slow" 700HP car or something. -

I smell at least 50k. I would have maybe believed the T56 could hold up, because you are not going to hook up at all. Now with hook, an Fbody T56 with a much heavier car will break around the 700 HP mark if you are lucky. I know someone who broke his 4 times before moving to a TH400, in a mid 10 second car, now running 9s. Again, that is heavy, and with hook/launch. AWD on a Z is probably going to be an engineering nightmare, my own opinion is to start with a car closer to what you have in mind. Most AWD setups dont handle power very well, and its going to put even more stress on the trans, so again that rules out the T56, a $1500-$3500 transmission is not going to stand up to it, I can't believe you even mentioned it with your plans in mind. Being a road racer, I think its ridiculous to go for 1000 HP, and not to flame you but I likewise question if your a dreamer or being realistic, because HP on a track can be more a crippling thing to have than a blessing, you will be driving on the edge in the most maddening way. I think the 917 idea sounds great, they are nice lookin cars and they can make awesome downforce. Anywho, I could rant and rave about ideas and combos that I myself have dreamed about and etc, but I can't even believe that you've been on a road course or know what real HP is like at this point, because it does NOT add up at all. 1000 HP for a drag car, is another story. Now, here is a project that I could see myself doing, but I would not aim for more than 700HP in probably any road car myself, those Can Am cars dont run anymore for a reason, basically because it was stupid, 1300HP, unusable even with thier insane downforce which is nothing like a street car, a 917 can be setup for 10,000 pounds of downforce and that is an old platform. http://www.ncracing.org/images/pic35.jpg Frankly, I find less power, to a point, more fun. When you can't go WOT for fear of going sideways, it kills the fun of rowing through the gears like a madman. Even with a modest 411 RWHP I went sideways just letting off the gas too quickly, touchy feely.
