  1. Have you looked at the KA24E onto L20B/Z22 block swap? OZDat has a writeup with plenty of pictures
  2. Well, if you want small, I like the Primera family hatchbacks and their successor the Tiida more than the Ford Focus and Fiesta versions here in NZ. Do you get the Nissan Tiida in the US, the car that replaced the Pulsar range? The Focuses I have driven just did not feel connected to the road and the steering felt dead. For something that forms the base of their rally cars, Fords stock unmodified non-sport model grocery getters are just too dumbed down. Altrough I haven't driven the sports package Focus yet.
  3. Without a LOT of details of the modifications NO-ONE can tell you how much oil to use. Your best bet is to obtain a stock unmodified pan, consult the manual and pour in the specified amount of oil and check how far below the rim of the pan the oil comes up. Then take your modified pan, pour oil into it until it reaches the same level below the rim of the pan and measure how much that is.
  4. As I understand it, the loop at the front is so the driveshaft doesn't drop down and the end dig into the surface like a vaulters pole, potentially lifting/unbalancing the car sufficient to case traction loss and spins/out-of-control situations where you can veer into other cars or the surrounding scenery. The rear breaking would just cause the driveshaft end to drop down, bounce, scrape and thrash the underside, but much less dangerous to handling.
  5. Maybe, if newbies can't browse to the FAQ forum, the login system can be altered that the first 20 logins drop the first timers into the FAQ forums instead of the forum index? Sort of a pointed reminder that there is a lot of info available to read before posting inane questions already answered in the FAQ section... No idea how viable that is to code however.
  6. Interesting that they are THAT much heavier, 2.5 times the weight for the same size bolt, what are they made of? I thought the grade diff was just minor metallurgy and heat treatign changes, Much like 1040 vs 5160, Minor trace element differences, 2.5x sounds like an entirely different metal such as tin based pot metal vs iron based steel!
  7. Might make very little HP, but whats the torque down low? Stump puller motor with way out rear diff gear ratio and gearbox should get the power down easy. Straight 8, not 6. if you look carefully at the pic each of the intakes is flanked by an exhaust on each side, E-I-I-E E-I-I-E E-I-I-E E-I-I-E style.
  8. Home on the range, and looking to get off the farm once more.

  9. Hmm, looks like an A series engine?
  10. It could be you subconsionsly realise that even if you screw up, mommy is still going to love you, so you're more comfortable working on her. On the other hand, if you screw up on the machinist, he's not going love you no more
  11. If you want low down boost, a Supercharger (screw not centrifugal) would be the better bet, same boost at idle as you get at max rev, since being mechanically linked to the engine revs it delivers the same extra air every revolution as the engine turns and turns the supercharger.
  12. Me? I go by the theme "Them as wot matter, don't care. Them as wot care, don't matter nohow."
  13. For 3.8 stuff, look at the Aussie Commodore forums.
  14. yes, it was the S20, same as some early Skylines, but the "2" doesn't actually stand for the capacity, but the cams.
  15. I thought I'd drop this in Non Tech rather than the Misc Tech forum since it's not actually Z related. I know some of you guys here are pretty clued up on tech sources and some even work in shops and repair places that may well have the catalogues on hand so I thought it might be worth a try asking on here. One of my friends here in China works for a parts supply company in Chongqing and needs the steering and suspension calalogues for TRW and Delphi, but can't find them. I did some Googling as well and she now has the 555 catalogue and a few others, but still looking for the TRW and Delphi ones. Anyone here know where to get the catalogues? Have already tried Emailing TRW and Delphi direct with no reply. Her company is a parts wholesale supply import/export one, and is looking to expand from supplying chinese parts to more import parts with the rapid increase of foreign built or designed cars now on the roads in China, which means they need to know what parts there are from which manufacturors.Hence wanting the catalogues, Tracy has been assigned the task of collecting them.
  16. Never been to Sydney, but I have heard the stories of nights out in Kings Cross...
  17. Nothing wrong with lesbians, through I prefer Bi's. I had my first threesome through the Uni of Waikato ***/Bi/Les/Trans group ASKEW. I was in the student union, offices just down the hall, the union offices had instant coffee and the ASKEW clubroom had real coffee grounds in a proper coffee machine. Spent a fair bit of time hanging loose in the clubroom slurping down their brew, well worth a number of polite brushoffs of *** guys hitting on me. Met a Bi girl duo wanting a bit of spice in their relationship Even won a prize in their "design a T Shirt comp". Only reason they didn't give me two prizes in different categories was they though they should spread the joy a bit more so the gave the "most colourful" prize to the runner up and I got the "best message" prize. Good memories An open mind makes you more friends than one armoured like a bank vault. Back to topic, The G nose + lowered look is great, and Taryn is a pretty chick Pretty car + Pretty girl, what more could Pedey want? edit, Hey what's with G.A.Y. being starred out? it's what the guys I know embrace as a label of their alternative sexual lifestyle so it's hardly a case of the useage of the derogatory N word...
  18. The chick with the MX5? The lucky guy is a magazine staff writer IIRC, you can see more on www.zclub.org.nz theres a project thread there somewhere. They bought the car and they're doing it up, she has a MX5 track car of her own. Speedhunters did an article on her car recently. edit: and in NZ, partner just means not yet married but taken, so, Living together, Defacto, Engaged, etc. Not just manhaters. editor, and heres the thread http://www.zclub.org.nz/viewtopic.php?t=2773
  19. so long as the cap is the highest point of the cooling loop you're fine, but when the radiator top sits lower than the top of the head you can get head airbubbles, a problem in VL commodores which had the RB30E engine which cracked heads and the MG MGF which had head gasket probs from excessive head head melting the nylon locating dowels and the gasket moving due to heat shift. If the rad cap is below the head/s, put an inline cap in the hose at the highest point to vent steam.
  20. Driving like my mother... She screams if I take a corner in the Serena doing 70Km/hr at 5500 rpm when it's posted for 50Km/hr and the redline is all they way up at 7500rpm... BTW corner speed advisories in NZ are set on a lowest possible deonominator safety basis, like an old blind granny in a Jeep with a full roof rack! In a sports car you can take a 65km/hr advisory corner at the open road speedof 100Km/hr and I know people with V8 Falcons and Commodores putting on the cruise controll at 100km/hr and never touching the brakes all the way to the beach through 50km/hr corner advisory signs. The only time they bake is for slower cars they can't pass immediately.
  21. Extrudabody has a "down the hroat" kit.
  22. bad rings leading to excessive crankcase pressures blowing oil out the breathers would be one thing I would be checking for. HBZ is a pretty specific site, I think for general R32 stuff you'd be better in the Skylines DownUnder forum. Otherwise check the 6cyl forums, RB section, or the FAQ forums for the rebuilding a RB thread.
  23. Either run your fingers over all the wires and check there is no break or corrosion inside the insulation, or get a battery and continuity checker and check that all the wires conduct. I met that on my '85 Hilux, REAL frustrating to be checking parts and connections, only to find with a continuity checker that one wire was not passing current, due to corrosion and a break from a pinhole in the insulation in the middle.
  24. True that, Here in china, everyone uses Baidu, mention google and they look blank. But for the main user of HBZ, google is likely the most commonly used and best known search engine, so sticking to google and maybe bing writep makes FAR more sense than having 50 writeups for suck places as Kazkazhan-Borat-search.com, Klingon-search.com and redneck-hunt-em-net-stuff.com
