When I was making my bell housing I got in touch with a guy named Kirby Palm, a Jaguar eccentric, who mated a Jag V12 to a Buick bell housing and a T5. He said they were fairly close. He used a homebuilt plate to match up the two. Here I an assuming the Buick is similar to the Olds’ bell housing. But I’m not 100% sure.

Ok…somebody clue me in here. This is a lot of money. Is this really worth it? I can think of other preferable production cars that amount of coin would purchase. Should I be lusting… and why?

These molds replace the sugar scoops on the front. Not the complete fender. They are not a ‘bolt on’ the fender side so some GRP skills are required. They do bolt on to the front frame horns. I will not get involved in shipping so pick up or a meeting north of the border is necessary. There are complete fenders “out there†and would save a great amount of time with body work.

Thanks Gents: The whole body was bought from a friend back in ’86 for $200. He has since past away. Back then the plastic parts were sold in flea markets so competition was high. The fender pieces were moulded from mounted headlight covers. I still have the moulds. There not in great shape but can still be used. They are free to a good home. My only stipulation is that they be picked up and past on. I ‘glassed mine in from behind. (edit) These molds have been claimed and sent to Arizona. The wheels are still available. These are 15X7 with Pirelli 235s. I really got lucky with the light on these pictures. It’s hard to believe the car could use paint. I put some more pics in the album. I like the look of your car Mat. It has a good stance and the wheels are first rate. Hey Rufus: Are you going to be on the road this year? I have this mental image of your car in a million pieces covered in frost.

There is basket weaving and vice to do as well. I had a "70 El Cameno with a 454, four speed, all original, as well as the Z. It was hard trying to decide which one to sell. It took me a year to decide. Sort of like women. You really should only have just one. Too dang expensive.

I can’t make up you mind for you Matt. Many will try. What I have learned from watching others is that if you keep switching cars all your cash goes to what ever it takes to make the cars road worthy and to your liking. If you stick with one through thick and thin it will turn out nice in the long run. There have been many time times I have thought of selling the Z, even years I haven’t driven it…just no interest. Other times it’s the passion of my life. But if I sell it I will be out for good. Maybe I’ll make baskets or take up drinking…more drinking …and vice. Hhmmmm It doesn’t matter which one you pick as long as you follow it through 100% for the long term.

Mixing alcohol and chlorine?! Chlorine bleach or sodium hyper chlorite…I handle that stuff in tankers. I wear an acid suit and full face guard just to unhook a 2†un-pressurized hose. My guess is They were too busy dealing with the chemicals in their eyes and were unable to take more video.

Congratulations bastaad525 It’s not a bad gig really. I’m on number two and got twenty years from the first one. I never let the Z get in the way of my obligations. My second’s X is the president of a Italian car club I can’t remember the name of. She thought the Z was a joke for a long time… until I mashed the wa wa peddle one day.

I'm a Jeep guy and it dosn't work for me...too dang big. I might drive over the Z in the garage.

Mine are from a truck trailer…lots to choose from…Incandescent…LEDs. They are easy to find and inexpensive.

Hey Dan: I noticed you car has a lip around the rear quarter wheel arch that other cars with the same flares from Reaction Research do not. Is this something new by or an add on by you?

I saw that too. I guess these people are just way too cool. You couldn’t keep finger prints off a car like that around here.

Dan is like anyone with a beautiful body. They just expose a little at a time to keep up the excitement. Maybe he just needs someone to slip a twenty in his garter! Looks real fine there Dan. I’m with the rest… can’t wait until the glass is in.

The Cobrarri was featured in R&T in the late eighties when I was doing my first V8Z swap. The chap was going to put that V12 in an original Cobra and was talked out of it by the builder. Now THAT would have been sac religious.

Nope. That ‘glass fish is the real deal. The guy lives in England and his neighbours have been trying to get the fish off the roof for about eight years. The story was on talk show radio in the mid nineties. But let me think, if I had half a Z body and a spot on my roof next to the Santa…

I was in a plant last year that made skylights. They put the sheets into an oven like they where hanging towels. They brought them out, clamped them down and put compressed air under them forming the bubble. This got me thinking. My idea was to make a wooden box just large enough to fit my part. Then put a heat gun in the end of the box, heat it up to the specified temp and lay the plastic on the old window and hope it doesn’t crack. I never though to ask the guys at the skylight plant what the magic number was.

Just out of curiosity at what temperature does Lexan become pliable enough to work with? I was thinking of using it for a rear window, but only if I could have the curve like the original glass.

I guess watching the paint dry is all a matter of where you live. Up north we have 240 volt heaters, the kind that plug into the same plugs as the welders. This keeps things above freezing. Some guys use wood stoves. I just put the part in front of the heater. Works good for Fiberglas and bondo too. Hey Georgia Flash you car looks like it’s coming along really good.

This is a great loss. I read his book and purchased a couple of his custom electronic parts. His philosophy and approach to performance drive train design was truly unique and widely accepted. He will be missed.
