  3. Ok, thanks gentlemen. I could see a motorcycle tank weld breaking form all the vibration. I can’t see it being a problem on a strap supported auto tank. I just haven’t seen them on any cars in my area and wondered if there was something going on I wasn’t aware of. Probably aluminum is just an expense that is not justified with the amount of weight saved on most applications. Thanks again, I shall forge ahead.
  4. Aluminum gas tanks? I found a line on an aluminum hydraulic tank that would be suitable for a fuel tank. I noticed that not many people consider using aluminum for gas. I know they get used for diesel all the time. The tank is a good thickness and lighter than the steel one I currently use. A racing fuel cell is just over kill for use on this car. Is there problem with aluminum and gas? Does corrosion become more of an issue? Accidents? Any ideas?
  5. Crawl under the new Mustang. I did and found a sway bar that has the right shape but am not too sure if the length is good. Should be. It's almost 1 1/4" in diameter.
  6. Hey Rufus: I searched last week and came up with someone recommending a seal off a 240 SX. I was going to try the one off my Grand Cherokee. I haven’t measured it for length yet, but the molding has the right cross sectional shape.
  7. The little things are everywhere. Mercedes sells them. Dirt cheap and they take thirteen bucks in gas to fill. They fill them every second week on an hour commute, one way. The little buggers scoot along faster than traffic on the four lane. Life’s good untill you wonked by an SUV and then it’s like being in a shopping cart.
  8. In collage every day I went home me and my buddy would turn a guy’s Mini sideways in his parking space. On the last week he parked it side ways for spite… so we made it straight. This is just too extreme… not very smart at all.
  9. Very nice work Chelle: The engine sits farther back then most V8s. Any room for a heater?
  10. Hey Matt: Post the name of the file and a google can bring up a sight.
  11. You might be right. There aren’t a lot of accessory mount points on the front. I don’t anything about this motor. What’s it for, a 24 hour car? In a Z it would help move the weight back.
  12. awd92gsx That looks like a real hot spot for a hose, but I think your right.
  13. I like the northstar. Timing chains in the back are a nice touch. Where’s the water pump?

  15. I hardly think there is the need here for sarcasm. He has a legitimate question. ...In Canada... Duty on US parts is 23% plus tax. By the time a part gets here from JTR the price can easily double. It is preferable to not to import goods from the US and hence the need for locally procured parts and smugglers. 70datsun240: Try talking to Canadian Speed & Machine Inc 416-746-8999 68 Millwick Drive, North York, ON M9L 1Y3 Get ALL your info on the JTR kit and talk to Heather. She will find the parts or the shop can make them. They have worked on a GNZ car in the past and found rare cams and racing parts for my V12. They are good people.
  16. I managed to pick up a banjo fitting and a HP line for my Subaru rack for next to nothing. All the parts were from various hydraulic shops in the area. It took some shopping around and about a week but eventually I had one made up. Subaru wanted me to refinance the house and the line was way too long. I have been there with a fresh car that I can drive. I blew the Vette rear end after 20 minutes. It sucks, but it passes.
  17. dot

    you guys pick..

TR6 with the supercharged ford V6 and a 5sp. I know the basements and garages where all the parts are but I don't want to get into another project. You can stop building cars but the calculations still go on in your head.
  18. It was not all that hard of a swap really. The mount positions are close to the Datsun’s. Some square tube and a welder will have your engine in. And that is the easy part. The problem is the exhaust and some interference of the through out fork. My solution was a set of home made headers and a hydraulic through out slave pushing on the dodge fork. If you can, use the A body bell housing as the fork sits lower. If a T56 will fit in there then most transmissions will fit. At the time I was deep in mortgage and diapers so this swap was done as cheaply as possible. The most expensive part was the stick welder.
  19. Ya! Really nice trailer. When is the movie coming out?
  20. Thanks for the heads up Tim. I just figured things were stuck in customs. For some reason the things I order end up there for three weeks while they try and figure out what they are. My hat will probably come in used from some Canadian customs agent wearing it around the warehouse for a month.
  21. I have bench tested a sensor using a propane torch and got it to produce one volt, with nothing electrical attached. It’s just my own looney theory, but you might be better off with a one volt battery than a resistor. I would however hate to be wrong and burn a computer.
  22. Didn’t Paul McCartney have one of those? His had a SBC, N/A with a Jag rear. He drove it around in some movie.
  23. I know I would be checking the back of that engine for damage. All that stress had to be carried some where else. I split a 427 block down the valley by dropping a valve at idle!
  24. Hey Z-TARD: I had an ’88. Best Jeep I have ever had. So good the EX took on the way out. I have a Grand Cherokee LTD now… but it’s just not the same… too heavy. I wish you luck with yours.
