  1. Don (dmyntti) was saying diameter was the same as the Z. It will be a while before I get the car in the air for an accurate messurement.
  2. The Camaro brakes look something like this. It was necessary to fabricate a bracket for the back side that attaches to the four bolt flange that used to hold the backing plate. They look similar to the ones pictured here. This is a rear brake kit for a E-7/80 Land Cruiser but you get the idea. The reasoning for going with the Camaro package was simple. The cost of two callipers and two rotors was less than $70 a few years back. New! However just looking at them you can imagine what the kit would weigh. I had plans this winter to explore putting on Toyota or RX7 callipers over the GM rotors. I personally would like to try and fit the RX7 callipers as they are made of alluminum and will help out with my gravitationally challenged Z. Matt are the RX7 rotors vented and are the dimensions close to the GM rotors?
  3. That really sucks. You better hope none of that coolent got sucked into the intake. It'll ruin the O2 sensor and fail the next test. When it comes to hybrids, it usually is dark before things turn out really good.
  4. I have to agree with Drax240z. It is a nice set up. I studied a few manifold designs before building a pair for the V12. This is the optimal design for a higher RPM engine. For more low end torque you would want longer/ thinner runners. I put ram stacks inside my manifolds as well. One reason was to even out the runner length. The other was because I found them in Ferrari manifolds as well as other racing motors. They must know a thing or two. The throttle body may be over kill. But at a certain point wouldn’t the large size and design be the same as using individual runners with no plenum? BTW mine are 3" each with no off idle issues. (stock) My fabrication turned out about the same. I say talk him down and try it.
  5. I’m glad to here that you are going to put in the twelve. The new cams are in. The major pain was finding shims for the valves. I ended making up my own out of tool steel. They seem to holding up well…no new noises. The power band has moved up about a thousand RPM with more power, but not gobs of it. I was a little disappointed with all the time invested in the cam change. The car does make a nicer sound though. Very unique. Up here Krown is a company that applies the rust proofing. It costs about $75 US or $100 CDN and saves the car so we just let them do it once a year. You can get the same results with thick chain saw oil. But as you know oil does evaporate or gets washed out over time. As far as I know you cannot buy it in a can. I would be delighted to be proven wrong. Good luck with the cars Dale. 9. There sure seems to be a lot of wasted M/C parts ….and skin. The "140" posts were to help settle the discussion on weather a bike could reach 200mph.

  12. In the Toronto area we have corrosion issues to the point a small industry has been built around it. They spray oil on the inside areas that are imposable to reach by drilling ½ inch hole and inserting a sprayer that looks like a power washer. When I had my Z apart in the eighties I covered the wheel wells and supporting frame parts before the external panels were replaced with a no smell grease. The oil gradually seeps out from the inside. It’s not a good plan if you are into a pristine look but it sure stops the rust. The oil they use is similar as winter grade chain saw oil. This a link for what they do. http://www.krown.com/
  13. Hi Terry: I am using a Holley pump as well. At first I had it hard mounted to the frame. Then used some mount insulators to quieten things down some. From there I put two sections of braided line on ether side to stop the noise traveling along the frame rails transmitted through the fuel lines. It’s all whisper quiet now.

  15. Hey Mike: It must be difficult driving with a horse shoe up there. Both cars look really sharp.
  16. I was having problems with mine and found a test on Google. "All you need to test an oxygen sensor is a propane torch, vice grips, and a 10 meg ohm input impedance meter capable of measuring low voltage (1 volt and less). If you are going to buy one, ask for a high impedance (10,000 ohms) digital type. Connect the voltmeter. Then heat the tip of the sensor, holding the tip completely in the flame. Move the torch flame over the sensor tip. The tip should be hot enough to turn cherry red, and the flame must enter the opening into the sensor tip. Meanwhile, keep an eye on your meter. If you get a reading above 600 millivolts, and the reading quickly changes with the movement of the flame over the tip, the sensor is OK. Otherwise, replace the sensor." After doing the test my O2 sensor worked great. Probably because it burnt all the crap off of it. Then it died a week later and failed the test. It will give you some thing to do until you save for a new one.
  17. Wire a dozen in series and put a hi output coil on the end. Hook the hi tension lead to the door handle as an antitheft deterrent.
