  1. Nice job Dale: It looks centered to me. I just picked up the parts for doing the same to a VDO Speedo. I can't seem to get the plastic cover off. I'd like to reuse it. Any thoughts on how to put in a square hi beam light?
  2. All I can say is that I’m flabbergasted.
  3. A lot of posts have been deleted. I have not been able to get results on things I know were there. There is the Falconer V12 thread which had pros and cons of various V12 swaps. Some BMW 12 threads have vanished as well. Can’t find most of the WRX rack posts. I know the sight has to reinvent itself every once while, but the quality threads (IMO) have been deleted with the junk. For the new guys I just cut and past a link if I have it. As for the Christmas spirit and milk and cookies…ba humbug! Give me single malt and cigars. This Santa has retired…at least until the grand kids come.

    A quick teaser

Amen brother! If there is no mechanical advance on the distributor there are always other solutions. I used an Accel programmable timing control on the Jag. This product doesn't appear to be available anymore but there must be others out there. Chewievette six Webbers pushing through the hood would be nice. Fuel ejection is fairly simple once you get into it. This swap is starting to look very appealing.
  5. I would try the methanol or isopropyl alcohol. (IPA). The latter is used as a disinfectant and can be purchased at the pharmacy. What your looking for is a water soluble solvent. Acetone is in this group but is a little harsh. The IPA will evaporate at slower rate giving you a longer working time.
  6. http://www.zzxdatsun.com/ Look under "Catalog/soft trim". I want the leather ones from santa.
  7. btw.. how are ya Glenn? havn't seen you post in a while.. Not much in the way of cars. Just hanging out with the family. I had an old Riviera that had an air system. It consisted of air shocks a load leveller and a very small compressor. Very light. After you add some bags with the hole and some switches...it should still be light. The Riv only took 10 to 15 seconds to adjust to a heavy load.
  8. got a link? Matt: I don't think adding air bags and a small compressor would add all that much weight considering the weight of the removed springs. I'm not sure if the handling would be all that great...but it sure would look good parked on the frame rails.
  9. I don’t know about the swapping the pan around. It looks like the rear is part of a bell housing support. Chelle had said she used a dry sump oiling system as used on the MacLaren. The system cost about a grand. I would be tempted to make a sandwich plate with a sump on the rear. It depends on the internal oil lines.
  10. Sorry Pop N Wood. My intention was not to say one country was better than another, but only to show how close jkdgabe’s post resembles reality. I find humour in that.
  11. Theme...that's a good idea. Externally I choose the date the car was built and used components from that era or look like they are from that time to customize the car. The inside of the car is best left stock imo with the latest electronics in the old style. Stuart Warner or VDO. Under the hood...anything goes!
  12. One Canadian’s view point. The hit’s on Canadian immigration web sights since the election have gone up over 600%. Bush was here the week before last on a “reconciliation visitâ€. And then there is this. A quote from the http://www.thestar.com . Dan Felushko, a 24-year-old marine, told the CBS program 60 Minutes this week that he left Camp Pendleton, Calif., and came to Canada rather than Kuwait, because he felt it would have been wrong to fight. "I didn't want, you know, `died deluded in Iraq' over my gravestone," he said. According to the CBS program, some 5,000 American men and women have deserted the military since the war began. They are largely accused of cowardice back home, but they say they are acting out of conscience. Now that’s a political post! PS: I was an American at one time.
  13. A gull wing would give more room for entry… but personally, I don’t think it would suit the body style.
  14. I got busted. I had a small portable office and a Pentium ll for some semi retirement, off site shunt work at a chemical plant. I found a good woman on web personals (lava life) and a fantastic house for us to move into, all over a period of a few years. First they took the computer. Six months later they cut the network line so my laptop wouldn’t work on it. Then the phone line so the modem wouldn’t work. I lost all electric power. NO HEAT! They canceled my company cell phone. The company credit cards began to bounce. Then the pay checks stopped. Some people just can’t take a hint.
  15. Styrene. Don't get it in your eyes. Hurts...lots.

    ford 3.8

A friend of mine is currently swapping a 3.8 SC into a Triumph TR7. I'll let you know how things go. This motor out lasted the hard driven donor car.
  17. 155MPH ( there could be Datsun speedo error) Flat out open road. 340 old skool with dual AFBs 4speed with 1:1 4th 308 rears Car was reasonably stable, but I was real scared. I haven’t run out the V12.
  18. Not bad at all. I had the V8Z rumble for ten years. I quite enjoyed it. But there comes a time for a change and having build several V8 powered big & small block cars, I found that the repetition was becoming boring. Something completely different is a welcome change. But that is just personal experience.
  19. Matt: A friend of mine just picked up a 2.8(?) supercharged engine and tranny from a '90 T Bird for his TR7. Let me know if you need measurements.
  20. Up here you can hang out at Chapters...sit in a nice chair with a coffee and read until you go blind. For the past couple of years I have been reading EVO, Octane and Race Tech. A little of old and new. For the most part, all the good info is right here...and the odd laugh

    Dismantle a Z

Plastic milk cartons. Stack 'em. The one you need is always on the bottom. Buy them to avoid getting arrested. There are better ideas above.
  22. Thanks for the update Stony. Henrik Wrote: "Since I bought me a Porsche 944 Turbo this spring, I had to somehow store it indoors during the winter. I decided on enlarging my one-car garage by tearing down two walls to the neighboring rooms; the sauna and the laundry room. Of course, the sauna got totally torn down, but I didn't use it that much anyway." Got to like a man who has his priorities straight.
  23. I noticed anytime there is a rally on “speed†, a Z is one of the top three finishers.
  24. Hey....hurt feelings...I remember when these were new cars! Do the wipers go any faster than hour hand slow now?
