  1. Back in ’77 when I was in collage I found a Hot Rod book on engine swaps. I was working on a V8 Pinto then. The book had an article on a Z with a SBC from LA. That was what got me thinking about a Z swap. I cleaned house during a move about five years ago and this book was one of the victims. Just got to keep that old stuff!
  2. Mostly stock with some termite food
  3. just what the world needs...more dots...
  4. I run a pair of Isky street cams in the V12. I'm pleased with them.
  5. At last, some good news to read. Good to hear your happy.
  6. The sunny night thing? I happens in a few weeks. We go from the sun setting at 4:45 pm to having it set after eight or nine. Next month in northern Prarries the damn thing won't go down at all. "The land of the midnight sun."
  7. Wasn’t this the guy whose old lady took his house, tools and your engine? You can bet his mind was not at the task at hand.
  8. Hey Norm: After dropping twelve cylinders and a six speed through the top, mine WILL be coming out the bottom if need be. I had to jack up the car to get the angle I needed to swing the motor/tranny assembly into place. Next time I’m using the cherry picker to pick up the car after disconnecting the steering and cross member. A couple of strong dudes could pick up the motorless car with the right alcoholic influence.
  9. I noticed that as well. Good thing the driver wasn’t trapped in the car! Slow reaction time on the side of the fire crew. Very sad.
  10. My oven is officially now off limits for powder coating, for relationship longevity reasons. IF I could keep the temp steady, would my old barbeque do the job for some small steel parts? Or would it make a mess?
  11. Well said my good man. When you start working on cars you will learn early the value of good tools. The money that can be saved from working on your own car and those of family and friends will be returned many times over your initial investment. But Larry is right, just getting the motor in is the least expensive part of the process. It is the hidden costs can kill your project.
  12. I worked for a resin plant in the early nineties on the night shift. We had plenty of solvents to experiment with. When it was time to upgrade from a 318 to a 340 I thought I would try some fuel experiments on the old motor. The goal was power. I tried acetone which seemed to work best at starting a flooded motor by pouring it in the carb, not much of a power increase when two quarts was added to a ¾ tank. Toluene had the best power increase but was barely noticeable in the overall scope of things. I was bouncing ideas off our stationary engineer. He said that the rate of burn would be faster from the additive, but not produce more power because nothing additional was being added to the combustion chamber. The car ran noticeable warmer though. The is nothing here that hasn’t been tried before. How about a toluene, gas, nitrous mix?
  13. Cheep truck trailer lights?
  14. I have a question. Why are fuel cells are always placed in a box? Why can’t they just be strapped in like production vehicles? I have a fume problem as well. The tank uses an old style vented cap.
  15. I’m surprised that with the engine so far back that you still had to modify the pan. Too low? Nice work. Where will the sifter come out? As I see it should come out behind your elbow. The T56 has provisions for a forward mount shifter, but how does that work? The gated shifter…? You are going to have to make one. Sorry.
  16. If you’re going to have all that power you better upgrade the switch so you can turn it off quick if you have too. Candles are nice.
  17. All you need is one of those gated shifters for the T56. Nice work going on there.
  18. You would think they would get soft and fall over.
  19. The big tube up the back probably comes off a turbo. After that, I don’t know.
