  1. ^Did you do that yourself? What was done to prep it? I have been contemplating a low pressure pump>surge>high pressure pump>filter setup but am not completely sold. Have toyed with the sump idea, just not sure what to do for complete prep work. I Have read hot tank followed by argon purge during welding.
  2. Both sensors and the subharness just for piece of mind. Kind of like the knock sensor and harness for a VG30... impossible with assembled engine.
  3. LQ4 is till Gen III based IIRC, so they should be in the valley. If not, they are on the sides of the block.
  4. They are no lightweights lol. They run in at about 43lbs. That is with rails, and about an ounce worth of dust lol. Both sides have the same adjustments and they have that fancy leg extension too. I just need to find a place to recover them when the time comes.
  5. So, I finally figured out what seats came in my 240Z. Twas a long and difficult road since the parts numbers were as generic as generic can be. Anyhow, they are out of a late 80s, early 90s BMW 325i. Lots of adjustability, but require seat mount mods. The PO rigged them up with some plate and two part epoxy (lol) but as I am repairing my floors and frames, I will weld it up proper. Pics!
  6. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/121788-cd009-6m-350z-trans-with-ls-engine-in-a-s30/ may want to contact the guy in that thread.
  7. Maybe the joy of helping a fellow enthusiast and seeing what reward that person bestows upon you after a good deed...
  8. Someday, in a galaxy far far away, and a time not so near, I hope to drive my Z. My wife got me a Gopro for Christmas and I am looking forward to using it. Till then I have to rely on you guys to kick ass and take names out there for me lol.
  9. Looks like you had fun always good when they get out of the garage and onto the track.
  10. Pretty sure you need the offset mustache bar and front bar. The early MB is a straight piece. I could be wrong, may want to research.
  11. Where in Texas is Haltom City? I have a 2 ton if need be. I am in Fort Hood/Killeen....
  12. Personally, I find the best learning experiences come from just manning up and doing it. Do your research, get your answers, then put them to practical use. there is literally nothing that has not been covered before. I actually like doing my research prior to the hands on. You may too. A general understanding of basic mechanics will go a long way once you start applying it.
  13. Ok, I will talknto him in the morning a draw it up as well. Will report back tomorrow.
  14. Lol, when in Rome right? My tow vehicle is more suited for drags with the big single turbo and all. Wife cringes if I come into a corner too hot, couldn't imagine her face on a track haha. Just added that to my to do list.
  15. Ok, cool. Looks easy enough. What is the material thickness? Like inside diameter of the smaller portion? Also the overall height required? Gonna need that to create the solid model.
  16. Don't be so hard on yourself. Some people do have a natural talent for painting. My guess is that since the sugar scoops are fully rounded, the paint would hit and adhere to the surface differently than the fully flat cowl and such. The orange peel might be from a little too much paint coming out versus gun speed. I am no pro though, just a hobbyist, so maybe someone else will chime in too. Oh, and single stage buffs out nice, just put down some plastic before color sanding it. Learned that the hard way on my S14.
  17. I am currently attending Central Texas College in the drafting department. We just got a sexy 3d printer....but the department chair is a stick in the Mud. However, one of my classmates has one. I can ask if he would be willing. I see him again Monday. Will let you know.
  18. Awesome! Thanks. Pretty much what I was picturing. Also found a new fountain of joy. PO riveted on the rear quarter/doglegs and bondoed the everyloving shite out of it all. At least it was fairly recent. The metal is still good, just need to drill out the rivets and then weld it all in. Seems I will be getting my welding degree on this car alone lol.
  19. Pics or it didn't happen! Flush would still work the way I am envisioning. Was just trying to keep the frame as high as possible for some sick stance lowering. Just kidding. slight drop is all that's planned.
  20. Gonna have to break out the bug and tar remover. I am pretty much following along with your same steps. Waiting on a new torch for my plasma cutter so its been a lot of cleaning lately lol.
  21. Looking good! DId you just use the bug and tar and some copious amounts of elbow grease? or was it necessary to grind it all away still?
  22. Gotcha. 6 inches may be a little bit of a fish story, but as you can see in the pic above, there is a definite overlap. Maybe it was another hack job by the PO, as it seems it was welded all the way down versus just spot welding. The plans for the frame rail to fire wall is fully welded 1" flanges on the firewall side of the frame rail(which is 14 gauge 2.5sq tube) Then the 1.5x3.0 tube will run front to rear 1/2" above floor level and angling upto the TC rod cup. Hoping it will be beefy enough.
