  1. ok. if they are the turbo ones then it is really easy. there is only a metal ring on the shaft that is holding the inner onto the shaft. the way i got them off was to keep the whole shaft together and put the unit into my work bench with the inner cv on top of the bench then i tightened up the bench until the inner cv could not fall through the gap. i then lifted up the shaft till the outer cv hit the underside of the bench and then slammed it down. you don't need much force and you have to keep in mind that when the inner cv pops out it doesn't roll off the bench and hit the floor. does that make sense?
  2. i believe you have the tripod type. correct me if i'm wrong. the ones from the na z31s are the only ones i haven't taken apart. to me they look similar to the ones off of the 280zxt with the 6 bolt flange on the wheel end.here is a picture. if they are the same as the 280zxt ones you may be in trouble because i destroyed the metal sleeve, the one that holds the boot on the diff end, to get the assembly apart only to find that the tripod is staked onto the shaft on both ends.
  3. that's all i've got. the car has a skyline rb engine in it with all wheel drive. it is a very expensive swap not to mention that the engine has to sit too far forward in order to get the driveshafts to line up with the front wheels.
  4. good call! i'd forgotten about the reaction research site. here it is http://www.reactionresearch.com/automotive.html i really like the subtle z kit!
  5. check out this link to motorsport auto http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=BSC

  7. sorry, been very busy. i'll try to get on it tomorrow.
  8. the impreza has a horizontally opposed 4 cylinder which sits very low so as to keep the center of gravity as low as possible. Like Bob H said, in order to get an engine like the RB26DETT in there, you would have a minimum of 6 inches of it sticking out of the hood and more engine in front of the wheels resulting in a much higher CG and poor front/rear weight distribution. i've seen WRXs with 586 HP that would probably cost less than getting a front clip and a weeks worth of shop time.
  9. you need the 84 - 86 z31 turbo rotors. they are the same size from 84 - 86. i'm not sure about the 87 - 89 ones.

    CF Hood

i think it was pinky280z but am not 100%.
  11. check out http://www.modern-motorsports.com also for 5 bolt brake conversions and 5 bolt rear stub axles.
  12. http://www.modern-motorsports.com Ross may not have them listed apart from his brake kits but just email him and i'm sure he'll set you up.
  13. i would just make a gasket. a lot of the new vehicles don't have gaskets on the diffs anymore, they all just use gasket goo.
  14. check out this site also http://geocities.com/zgarage2001/borg.html
  15. 82-83 T BW T-5 3.500 2.144 1.375 1.000 0.780 those are the specs in North America. hope it helps
  16. i can confirm that from 70 - 83 they all use the same oil pump, water pump, timing chain, camshaft gear, crankshaft gear, oil seal, gasket set and they all look the same but i cannot confirm that they are the same. on the other hand i think that the evidence is overwhelming that they are the same.
  17. if it is your distributor, which i think it sounds like, check out this site on how to rebuild it http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~jrdemers/280ZX/distributor/distribase.html
  18. i'm not sure these guys carry it but it wouldn't hurt to check with them. http://www.cybersanford.net/
  19. from what i can find the 240zs were 2355 lbs, the early 260z was 2499 lbs and the later model 260z was 2605 lbs. the only problem is that light does not always mean strong. i would not run a z with good horsepower through the 240z stub axles, half shafts or r180 diff. the other difference is that the 240 and early 260s both came with 4 speed transmissions which i would not use either. i hope this helps you make up your mind.
  20. here is some info on the z aerodynamics http://www.zccw.org/Tech/Body/09-97EarlyZAerodynamics.html here's one on aerodynamics http://www.mulsannescorner.com/

    Kablow!

you could put your diff strap back on or you could build a setup like this one http://240z.jeromio.com/diffmount.html . i am currently building one up for myself because they look indestructable and i won't have to bother trying to find any of those stock mounts again.
  22. here is a thread that details the differences. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22294

    body kits

try these http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=7AP1 http://www.reactionresearch.com/automotive.html http://www.arizonazcar.com/bodies.html the last one is just a tease because as you can see the molds are for sale. regardless i think it is the best kit. those are the ones i could come up with i'm sure there are more.
  24. is it the early or late production model? if it is the early model with the 240 style bumpers and front turn signals then i would say yes but if it has the clunky 280 style bumpers then the answer is a resounding no! the later model had large crash bumpers, a beefier frame, larger diameter struts and thicker, stronger stub axles. just to name a few changes.
  25. did you have any copper washers in with the spacers? i had one washer with each spacer on each assembly and i've heard that some guys have had two! either way i've been told to make sure it's put back together the same way they came apart regardless of the number of copper washers or lack thereof.
