  1. putting a vent in both vc's should do it. I kept blowing pan gaskets in a 350 because I didn't want to put holes in my VC's. I guess whatever is the weakest will blow first to releave that preasure.
  2. You could find a cheap air pump and use it to pull air from one cover, I did that on a trooper I had. Dunno what effect it had on the crank case pressure but it never leaked.
  3. I paid 218.00 to JTR for the setback plates, block spacers, trans x member, upper and lower radiator mounts and the rubber radiator supports. Delivered w/ in 2 days of order. Are these the parts you are offering to make, or do you include the rest of the components that JTR offers in their full $325.00 kit (Throttle cable, hood latch, etc). Please mention everything you are offering for $200 and post it in the Classifieds page. I am not trying to be a punk, just want some clarification for some of the newer members.
  4. DUDE, that car is super clean, did you grab a great deal? I am going to use the Red to feed my sbc, not runnin yet, so I don't know how well it works.
  5. DOH! I just remembered, I have some assorted stainless tubes at home, they are all SAE sizes but I think one is .5", could be close enough. I will take some measurements this weekend, but I am pretty scatter brained sometimes so don't get upset at me if I forget. I think it is 304 or 316 SS. We will see....
  6. What do the sleeves need to be made of? What finish on OD adn ID, pretty good if you want an interference fit. If you can get some dwgs or even a scetch, I might be able to get some made for you. 80-100 is probably a good rate on them. Makes you wish you had a lathe!
  7. So that's what you can put on the passenger side of the engine compartment Very Cool!!!
  8. Well, OK isn't the most Liberal place either!! But I can say the US is far better than most of the other places we could have been born.
  9. Was that WITH or WITH OUT the engine in the car? I noticed that mine sat pretty much in the same place as the stockers with the drivetrain out, will see how she sits with it in.
  10. Nope. They work with the regular small blocks and the LT1's. I liked how JTR didn't make you buy everything, I got the setback plates, spacers, trans xmember, and radiator supports for 218 delivered w/ in 2 days of order.
  11. There was a WHITE comic from Atlanta at the local comedy club a couple of weeks ago. He went on and on about how f'd up that state is and how it is totally run, still, by a bunch of red necks. He was a funny cracka I think it is just messed up that they spend their TIME on stuff like that! Who cares, right? Isn't there important stuff we should be working on???
  12. Looks like the new corvette headlights would slide right in, the '05's.
  13. I have them installed but haven't put my engine/trans in yet, you will probably know before I do.
  14. I got the Camaro radiator I won off of ebay in the mail, great right? Yeah, so I open the box and there is used engine oil in the box, weird, ok. Pull out the rad, looks to be in GREAT shape, exelent, BUT! The inside has lots of BLACK used engine oil. It's not milky at all, so it is like some on poured it in there? I email the guy and he said he had it stored and shouldn't have had anything spilled into it. I am sure it's fine, just needs to be cleaned... SO What should I do, take it to a radiator shop and have it cleaned up and preasure tested just to make me happy or can I clean that oil out myself? What would that cost? Any suggestions, ideas? Thanks!
  15. NOTE TO SELF: "Don't oppose bluex_v1...."
  16. I am sure you can get the stuff cheaper somewhere or even do it yourself. BUT I just received my parts from JTR last night and man, was that EASY! Everything lines up exactly where it is supposed to, the quality is very good, (for stampings). The coating (ZINC) is great, I think it is a decent deal. I am happy, and I am pretty picky.
  17. Very cool, it's been almost 2 years now since the wife and I drove hwy 1 from monterey to SF while on our HM. WOW, is all I can say. What a beutiful stretch of road.
  18. Between TX and OK, I think we have the more trucks than the rest of the country, you should eventually run across what you are looking for.
  19. We need reps in every state!
  20. Thanks for the input everyone, i think I will be running the DS modified vortec's and go ahead and get their kit with the RPM intake and all the gaskets and bolts. I am wanting to run the CompCams HE268 cam with pistons that will allow me to run 9.5 or so comp. With a 750 carb and one of those mallory HEI's, should be all over 300 hp. Now all I have to do is spend spend spend and bolt everything together. Any other opinions or suggestions will be appretiated. I am trying not to break the bank, so I am wanting to get by as cheap as possible, but will never sacrifice quality. I want to be driving this set up for years to come!
  21. I read most of this book last night, Small Block Chevy Engine Build-Ups: How to Build Horsepower for Maximum Street, I got it in the mail yesterday. I read all the first chapters dealing with the cheap power build up, and the chapter on the vortec's. Wow, so i can easily attain my 300hp mark these heads, and the 268H cam they used. Seems like what I am going to do. The only thing is I am wondering if it will be cheaper to buy.. SD Modified vortech's w/ intake and springs $900 + shipping or... stock heads and have them modified. $500 shipped + intake + springs (which could come with my engine kit/cam kit)
  22. Yeah, That is why I was wondering if anyone here had used them. They look of good quality, but you're right, they might be off the other design just enough not to fit...
