  1. So really this discussion is about something else alltogether RIM ENVY
  2. I am running 17" momo's that i got a killer deal on. they look bad ass in my opinion, the stock brakes are smallish I agree. So untill i can afford biguns, Tim, you can make fun of me . Anyway, thought it was funny how a post that stuck with no answer at first and for a seemingly long time now has two pages of replies, in like a couple of days.
  3. There are many posts on this, I know cause i posted many of them wehn I was working on my suspension. Do an advanced search on bushings and you will find several solutions.
  4. Satruday was AWESOME! Started off the day by hitting some garage sales with the wife and mother in law. Around 11 or so we are about to call it quits as I pull into this neighbor hood about a mile from my house to hit a couple last ones. Pull up and walking up to this house there is a dark blue/purple Z with a cowl hood, looked nice. So I am looking over the guy's sale stuff and on one table is a set of shorty headers and a set of collectors with some other SBC stuff. I ask and sure enough he is runnina 377 SBC in his Z! Pretty clean, made all the mounts and stuff himself. I got the headers and a hood relocation set up he made for 40 bucks, not bad right? Get home, and worked on getting the JTR kit installed with my dummy (read cracked) block and T-5 that afternoon, got the trans mounts cut out, and the X member holes drilled out and everythink mounted up. What a milestone. Makes me feel great, now only if I had a good block to rebuild. I have two in the garage that are worth nothin. I will post some pics when I get them on a disk, hopefully tomorrow. Every think fits nicely, I am happy! Oh, and if any of you care I am getting alot closer on my pool table projcet, mostly set up. I neet to finish leveling the 3 slates and it will be ready to re-felt and finish up. I can't wait to play! Anyway, this was a good weeked
  5. Congrats! Wish the business I was in had stuff like that. Have fun, but yeah, be carefull about spending money. With all that time, I would have a hard time at that
  6. Do a search for JTR on Google, it is the company that make a bolt in kit for the SBC and will work with the LT-1. They have a manual that show the general stuff needed to do the conversion. It gives a good overall veiw of what needs to be done. Start reading on this forum, the Chevy Forum will have all the answers to your questions. Good luck and enjoy For any other questions the ADVANCED SEARCH will help you find out anything else you need to know.
  7. Forget about buying the complete conversion, they are difficult to find, can very expensive and you never really know how much love was put into the car unless you put it there yourself. Find a Z, doesn't have to be stock. One that you can afford adn like. Sell the truck, and drive the Z. Drive it till it is ready to die adn by then you should be ina place to swap in a V8, those 6's are good motors. If you are already paying for your vehicle then I think you are ready for a hot rod but you aren't going to get what you want if you don't have the $$. I am getting clost to 30 and I FINALLY have my Z, it took a long time and there were other priorities that came first, but I have it. I am building it and I thin you will miss out on a lot of, er, um...FUN if you didn' build it yourself.
  8. Yes, it is a Uni-body construction. Subframes incorperated with the main body.
  9. I need to come up with a solution to this also, I was thinking the clear tubing, like i have seen on race cars, would be cool, but I don't know where to find it. Or is it even ok for gas, might be ok for alch or meth but not gas? Anyone know?
  10. That is awesome that you can be so possitive about the whole situation and that everything is working out for you all. I am sure it was a very difficult ordeal for you all. Glad everyting is coming together.
  11. If you think about it, were all pretty much neck! Putting over powering drivetrains in these little bity cars! That's neck.
  12. I got a little sea sick just looking at that mess. I will pull it all and go with a kit. I used the 18circuit Painless, but I am sure they are all very simple. The stock stuff plus the who know's what is very confusing. Good luck! Mine wasn't so bad but i had my car completely torn apart when I did it.
  13. The teacher was using the BELL CURVE. Some A holes think that the "curve" is the fairest representation of the class as a hole. This means that no matter what, someone will fail. This is sooo wrong to me, as everyone in the class could get 90% and above on the test but the poor souls that got the 90's would be at the bottom of the curve and receive F's. Total bullshit. My wife had to deal with one of these guys untill the class turned him into the head of the department, he was forced to change his ways. Not sure about all the details but it did happen.
  14. isn't that pollished aluminum?
  15. Looks like good work, BUT, that is exactly the way my floorpans were fixed in my car when I bought it. Pop riveted and epoxy over the previous problem holes. It worked for a while but buy the time I got the car, the flexing and such of the body had popped some of the epoxy seams and allowed water to get trapped between the new galvanized metal and the original floor which = more rust . I know you spent alot of time on this but it won't last forever. SO, if you are planning on driving this car for a while, I would suggest cutting out the floorpans and replacing them. I had never done it before, and with a little welding training from a buddy, I replaced both floor pans my self. Took about two full weekends of cutting, shaping and welding. My costs were minimal, about $30 bucks for way more 18ga sheet steel than I needed. Borrowed the welder, you can use a jig saw or cirular saw with an abrasive blade to make your cuts, works very well! Just lay out all your cuts, measure twice and you will be done in no time! Just my .02, not trying to get you down!
  16. Exactly my thoughts Gold... That is why I found a good prof, THEN decieded on my major, the very subject the good prof was teaching HE HE
  17. If they moved the decimal over to make it $17.50, and made it magnetic, I would get one to put on the wife's celica.
  18. Thanks fella's. I was hoping that i didn't have to lug my bell housing into the parts store!
  19. My P-side front side marker is fried. the wires had corrosion under the insulation all the way back into the housing! Can not reuse. I need to find a new or good used one. Any thoughts? VB has only the outer ring and lenses listed.
  20. I am lining up my parts needed to dry fit the block and trans in the car to get any fab work done so that the complete engine trany is a straight bolt in when it comes time. I didn't start out with an engine trans combo so I am short some of the hardware I need. My question is what grade of hardware do I need to buy for these applications... 3/8-16 that go through the JTR setback plates/spacers/into block 3/8-16 that go throught the bell housing to block ?????? that goes from trans into bell housing (any one know what thread those are? Stock bellhousing from 83 camero w/ GM T-5 NWC) For the JTR Xmember bolting through the floor and backing plates Where is the best place to pick these up? NAPA?? Thanks
  21. I was thumbing through Victoria British's catalog last night, they have that weather strip, didn't catch the cost though. Would check them out to compare...
