  1. I'm not really sure what you're getting at. If you mean they buy cheap used up stuff to sell as new, I don't see it. If you mean they buy up stuff to base their products off of, OK... that's basically what I stated above. In China, they manufacture (some) junk, they don't resell used up junk as new.
  2. Agreed. My first thought was, where was this 5 years ago. WHULP, I see it's older than that, in fact was born and kinda spuddered out well before I joined. Good stuffs, even now, when my car is about 80% complete.
  3. China makes everything, quality does depend on the manufacturer, but also to a large extent on who's supplying the design of the product the company is manufacturing. If the manufacturer is making these to the designer's "holset" specs, they they are probably pretty good. If the manufacturer took a turbo apart and simply 'reverse engineered' it, then their tolerances could be no where near specs they should be and are seen as crappy.
  4. I should be done w/ my sound layers soon. How was the quality of the carpet you got? Not sure which cut, or even color that I want yet, but i t looks like they had a lot of options.
  5. I actually had a RAM airbox for about a year or so then sold it BACK to Mikelly. I did email them. I asked which of their bases fit my carb w/ the electric choke, no response as of yet. What I have on now will work for now. I absolutely HATE the 14" Chrome disk sitting on top of my motor, it looks horrible! I dig my SS Moroso 11" unit, it's a bit more industrial looking. I'll be sure to post my solution when I figure it out.
  6. Kid may have been intimidated by the P car? There's probably more to it than them not being able to find the key. HOWEVER, I usually need to enlist the help of my wife to find almost anything around the house.
  7. This is good information. THanks for takin the time!
  8. I'm glad to see some of Z greats aren't immune to whatever it is I tend to get quite a bit more often.
  9. I ran a 3/8" alum line trough the stock fuel line mounts. I took the rubber clamps and cut them out a bit to fit the alum line but still keep pressure on it. And I'm running a Holley Red fuel pump, haven't had any issues so far, but i've got less than 300 miles on the car.
  10. 40 was just for the roll. DId you guy's get your kit's yet? I'm thinking this is the better way to go
  11. How bout this, I'll post up whenever I plan on attending an event, that way you'll be especially motivated to hang... Har. Will let you know, whenever somethings going on
  12. That is a pretty cool thing to do! You may just have gotten yourself a new re-subscriber. I'll read asap and if I like, i'm in
  13. I put the pads on probably between 1-2 years ago, but I only started driving it a month or so ago. I'll check the adjustment and bleed this weekend, unless it doesn't warm up, man it is freaking cold out!
  14. Hey the OKZCC has 2 meetings, one in Tulsa and one in OKC. They are the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of the month respectivley. They have a mothly newletter posted on the site below as well as a local forum and announcments for group outings and such. Try to attend if you can. I had been really hesitant due to comments from some of the guys about V8 Z cars but they are either gone, changed their minds or just kept quiet last night. I was really impressed with the enthusiasm the guy's had towards the car BTW, They just updated the Newsletter yesterday! There is a lunch run on 2/23/08 if anyone is interested. They are going to a steam tractor museum in Pawnee, OK. It sounded pretty cool http://www.okzcc.com/
  15. Short test run to the Z meeting this evening. Trans did just fine! I didn't really put any power down, but I was freexing my arse off and really just wanted to get home. 5th works
  16. Got home and hurredly applied my duct tape, started the car and drove over there just in time for dinner. Everyone was really nice and excited to see my V8 swap. One of the guys is even wanting to do one himself We are talking about having a Mid West Z meet in Tulsa this year, Last week of August, should be fun, I'll post details when they are known. I'd love to meet some of you mid westerners! This was also the first time I've driven the Z with the OD fixed, I drove a little out of the way so I could hit a HWY on the way home, tranny did fine, but man are these cars cold when you don't have the fan box or shifter boot in! At least the windshield didn't fog up!
  17. I had an epiphany on the way home from work, DUCT TAPE. The hole I cut out got several swathes of black duct tape on each side, you can't even see it when it's all together. So that will hold me till I get enough other things I need to combine shipping. I think I was mostly upset at my self for first ruining the cleaner, making it non-returnable, then for not being able to fix it!
  18. 1" Tilton Master Tilton HTOB Ram Clutch Disk and PP and the T-5 with the camaro rotated bellhousing Any deviation from these parts could mean a different Master.
  19. Found this article in carcraft... http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:xclMlSPuF_YJ:www.carcraft.com/techarticles/air_cleaner_comparison/index.html+%22Air+Cleaner+Comparo%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us Basically it tested a bunch of K&N filters from a tiny one to a huge one and they all dyno'd w/ in 1% of each other. SO, K&N has a 11.5" Round 2.375" tall unit that should fit with my Moroso Air cleaner. I am going to double check hood clearance tonight with 2+ inches adn order my filter. Thanks guys
  20. I've read just about every single thread on V8 air cleaners. Alot of them USED to have picture links, and Ebay links but they are almost all outdated. Most of this is just a rant because I'm a bone head, read on... I've got the Eddy 600 with electric choke, easy to tune, maintain, but a PITA to find a dropped base air cleaner that will work in the stock Z hood and get a 2-1/2 preferably 3" filter in there. If I don't NEED 3" that's fine, I just don't want to choke the motor at higher revs. I have just over 3" total distance from the top of the carb to the hood, which should allow me to use the 7/8's drop. I've been reading and reading and from what I can tell the 7/8" drop base that K&N will fit but for 22 plus shipping, I wanted to find something cheaper right? Last night, I stopped by a couple of parts stores on the way home hoping one of them would have the K&N pc. NO GO. Pep Boys did have a Spectre 14" unit for 30 bucks, so I grabbed it. It's 1-3/4" drop and it has several issues with it. 1. 14" the (the standard of all air cleaners) hits my freaking dizzy! 2. the bump out isn't QUITE big enough to clear that electric choke 3. also hits the banjo fuel fitting 4. Has a HUGE hole in it now I thought I could OCC this thing into shape with some gentle pursueding and a hammer, which turned into a small tear, then turned into a huge hole, and like 2 hours plus thinking I could fab some patch panell solution WRONG! So as of right now, I have a $30 piece of tin JUNK that, even if I do manage to seal up, won't really fit anyway! I should have left it alone, returned it and ordered the K&N pc, BUT the 14" is really much to close to the dizzy. It's rubbing the Number 1 Boot. Is any one using the Eddy 1002 triangle aircleaner? I used to have one way back, the only downside I remember is any backfires toasts the element. I have a Moroso 11-1/2" (or so) air cleaner, but the base is raised and I'd have to go w/ a 2" filter, is that enough air? I know the 2" will fit so I can go with that. I did read on K&N's website that at 6000RPM my motor needs enough CFM to require a 2-3/4" filter, any thouhgts on that? Terry, I guess I'm back into whore mode...
  21. Thanks JM. I'll re-bleed them this weekend and see whats what. They probably need adjusted as well, but I'm not really all that knoledgeable on Drum brake adjusting so I probalby didn't do it right when I changed the pads. And I don't have an E-brake as of right now either. If all else fails I can do the maxima disks in the back to compliment the front, I think that's the swap that went well with the toyota fronts and the bigger MC.
  22. Agreed for a sticky, but can we brake them out into types of vendors they are? Or is that too detailed? This would be in the vendors forum?
  23. Can't help, but I'm watching this thread. There is a local guy that sells nice carpet really cheap, like 40 bucks to do my whole car, BUT it's not cut or formed or hemmed or anything. SO I dunno if I really want to be THAT involved in every aspect
