  1. check efi grounds first, I ground mine to two places on the manifold and then to the block-that cured the bumpy idle issue in my car. My idle fluctuates too from 900-1100 sometimes, but mpg and power have been consistent. I have an erratic light, but power is excellent and idle hg is right on time, 25-27 freeway mpg so I know Im doing something right.
  2. Dale, the turbo i got off the engine seems to be in good shape, it came out pretty dry and I will sell it cheaper than the jy.
  3. A colleague and I had a field day exercise at the Fremont pick a part today. The one day I go there its a managers special for complete engines, and what do I see before me 82 280-zxt FIVE SPEED!! he got the head for a project of his, and I got a clean shortblock with complete intake and exhaust manifolds (with newer injectors!!!!) 240mm flywheel, wiring harness, ecu, four 300zx throttle cables, every egi and fuel pump relay in sight, every tps in sight, a zxt distributor, and all asscoiated hardware for...........66.00 (my half after tax and core charge)!!!!!!!! We did get a bit dirty too, we filled the valve cover full of small parts like relays switches and electric stuff from various nissans, we hid a 260z su intake, bolted a 240sx fan clutch to the turbo motor (they blow more air than any L clutch fan) bolted up the cleanest starter we could find, an ASE rebuilt unit gear reduction zx starter, in the bellows to the afm i hid a disgusting amount of throttle brackets, cables, tps from 6 different cars, injectors from various other turbo cars, and more. Pulling the engine took us four hours in the hot fremont sun, and it was very very dirty as well, it sucked, I drank two gallons of water in that time. I would have took the t5 as well, but it was stuck in gear and i didnt want to chance it, but I did get the flywheel left on the engine. The workers were nice to us this time and included the harness and ecu as part of the engine, and didnt ring us up big time for some other parts we bought as well, and we all came out happy. I just plopped the engine and all that stuff into the back of my 2+2 and head out home with a huge smile on my face, knowing now I have a good spare shortblock to build a future 8ish compression turbo engine with good parts, I have the flywheel to mate with the spec clutch in the mail, and I have enough spare parts to start an army! Sometimes you win
  4. Hey Afshin, that was a great race last night! Your car is putting power down thats for dang sure. Dale and Issac were buggin out that we were driving fast down that street, I guess police are around that street or something, but we had to show them how true San Francicans do it!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That hybrid turbo is really showing its power on top end is what it seemed like. Keep it up. Nice seeing you too. Awesome car you got there, we need to intercool you now. 8) Hey, happy to hear that its starting to clear up and you might not need a new engine B525. It does take a systemic mechanical approach to correctly diagnose and remedy symptoms like the issues you have been addressing regarding the L28et engine/induction swap into your car.
  5. its not uncommon for me to turn it up to 55psi or so, street driving i run anywhere from 36-43. I like 43psi because that is supposed to be where an injector shoots its full stock cc value, 260cc in my case.
  6. my pump got louder when i ran a relay to it. i run the dampener from stock 280z
  7. Oh yeah, thats right, we did talk ic piping, thats cool, because its dead on exactly like my piping, cool. i have to hold off on the power mods, now that my car is tuned pretty well the stock suspension feels downright scary sometimes and my poor clutch that was already slipping on top end is now producing a great smelly stench when I stab it after second gear, I guess I have enough gear down low to pull through, but when it gets to third, it hates me... 109 is crazy for stock everything, thats official. do you have a way to turn up fuel pressure? I run 43 at 10psi and I can fully thrash it in almost any weather now, Ive run 14psi with around 52psi and no issues yet, but I dont want to test my luck on mystery turbo number two.... anyways the clutch is going in first, and after I get off my duff and pressure wash the suspension really quick, thats next. In october I will be getting my first runs with a clutch that will hold up all the way down the track, so far best on this clutch has been a low 14 with 10psi boost and granny shifts after second to make sure I can drive it home!!!!
  8. Id kill for some action like that, all kinds of hardcore cars going for it. Thats hot. I think youre the 2nd v8z to lay it on a Skyline, because I WAS THE FIRST keep rockin
  9. hey there. yes im in onion(union) city right now, its so boring, but i work on my car a lot more and body will be coming after i do some brake and suspension I will try to get faruk (zhins50) to come out, he just blew a head gasket on his 240sx hopefully its done by today, that guy drives the urine out of his car. big brakes too on the zxt, youre hardcore. intercooler in yet or what?
  10. Hey Jersey, we have the exact same intercooler piping!!! I used a few more couplers though where you welded the piping together in a few spots. Same freakin intercooler too!!! Im jealous, the 240z t swaps look very nice and simple. Make it back out to the track yet? Im dying to try out my new turbo/fuel/wheel combo!
  11. Just finished the swap into my car, idles a little better, nothing crazy, I just fired up the car for thirty seconds or so and then shut it off. I am wondering if anyone use this with msd 6 ignition box, im pretty sure it would work ok, just wondering. Swap was incredibly straight forward, just make sure to grab the coil harness plug with a good length of wire attached when you get one from a jy. blue from coil plug goes to blue from coil (-) green from coil plug goes to blk/wht from (+)z31 boom, sucker will fire right up, feels pretty strong too, at least as good as my Accel coil was doing it. Im wondering how the wiring from the z31 transistor works. The s130 transistor has two sets of wires, one from ecu and one for coil The Z31 only has three wires, one I am prettty sure is ground, Im not sure what has to be done here. It looks like you need to splice the two wires into four wires ( two to coil and two out to ecu power) and ground the black wire right?? Im dying to use use the z31 transistor, the coil already saved me a bunch of space, and now the s130t transistor looks really lonely with no coil in the bracket. thanx.
  12. here are two i have with me, others are in storage 83zxt 5speed ecu A 18-601 042 stamped 2705 81zxt auto A18-000-040k stamped 1125 it is green and has a nissan remanufactured ecu sticker on it 8) ill have another one for you later, its still in the car.
  13. I am down, if you guys bring the illicit narcotics.
  14. Those photos are so last week Nice to see it in paint, it was nice to see you and listen to you dry rev your Lt1 swap, which was also nice to see and better to hear. Ready to see if its faster than an L28et???
  15. 75-78 ecu is only one big molex plug port my turbo ecus have three molex ports the easiest way to find out is to find someone with a zxt and swap ecus and see if it fires up, if it wont even plug in, its wrong. 81-83 zxt all have same molex ports.
  16. im not up on my serial numbers and codes for ecu, but I know that if its green, its from an auto, black is from manual. unless ive pulled it myself, ive never been able to trace down where ecu is from.
  17. my z just likes to cut my hands up in the engine bay, and sneeze all kinds of crap at me when Im working out back...
  18. 3500-700 rpm spoolup time, oh imma like the t04e go get em.
  19. used a spacer for mine, but had to do since im going to run full t04e. good idea to make a shield or use a little header wrap where the compressor is close to manifold.
  20. you have to beat me to it! just kidding. the 300zxt hood scoop looks good, and works just as good, im going to use it on my car soon.
  21. hey there!!! happy you found the issue, my green light does work, but now I can diagnose if it doesnt, thats the beauty of this bb. im tearing my car down for boost and styling upgrades, just got a new house and garage so its getting torn down but good! wouldnt worry too much with the engine blowing, thing is tough, even if compression is ridiculously low on these. my buddy runs a flattop f54/p90 combo with a 8.9cr and hybrid turbo 13psi, stock efi and inj-and beats the thing into oblivion. he used 83zxt 5speed ecu and moved timing up to
  22. drop in the 370s and run about 18psi...
  23. cool, i will give it a shot then. already had a spare flywheel and didnt want to buy another flywheel if i didnt have to.
  24. best rate ive heard of so far was 75.00 an hour to dynotune.
