Not ANOTHER wheel fitment question!
stravi757 replied to 150's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Here is a reference point for you to start from. As I mentioned earlier. This is a 16x7 zero offset with 205/55. I think I could have squeezed a 215 but tire options were limited. A 225 would have absolutely rubbed!, I have heard from other members running a 225 that it rubbed and they had to slightly roll fenders to clear or just dealt with the issue. This is why I dont see a 8 in rim with -12 offset fitting under the fenders very nicley. As others mentioned, the -12 is more like running a 9in rim! Maybe someone else can post pictures of the 15x8 -12 set-up. -
Not ANOTHER wheel fitment question!
stravi757 replied to 150's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I dont think it will fit. If you want to clear the stock fenders and you want a 8in wheel. I think you will need more like a +10 offset(may require coilovers and fenders slightly rolled still too. camber plates may solve that though). Also if you plan to run a 205/50 tire maybe consider running 15x7 or 16x7's! I have 16x7's with zero offset 205/55 and it fits the Z perfectly dimensions wise and aesthetics IMO. -
Hi, Looking to buy a stock 240z wood steering wheel I can restore. I would prefer a complete assembly with the horn pad but will consider one without. let me know what you have and you price. I would need it shipped to 94526 unless you are local! PM me, Thanks.

Eibach Pro Kit fender clearance?
stravi757 replied to crerar's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
yes it looks pretty low. If you want to get rid of the "fender gap" maybe go with a 55 sidewall -
bummed to see you are going with flares. ±I really appreciated the work you had done on the the body! hate to see fender chopped But as far as the flares go maybe confirm with someone else about the fitment issue who also bought from jpngarage. But the flares I installed a couple years ago from MSA didnt have the fitment issues you mention to that degree. I had to flex them a little bit, but nothing that was awkward

If you are not even close to passing I would start by looking at the water temperature sensor(located on the thermostat housing) and also the TPS(throttle position switch) If the water temp switch is bad or there is a bad connection it will cause the car to run extremely rich Proper adjustment of the TPS(located on the throttle body) is also vital. If miss adjusted it can cause many drivability issues. One cause of miss adjustment in particular is it can cause the ECU to think the car is at full throttle when the car is actually just under light cruise. This again will cause the car to run extremely rich giving very high emission when being smog tested!! Download the FSM for the year of your car here http://www.xenons30.com/reference.html This will go over in detail how to check the two items I have described. Read it patiently. Check back with us after if either of these resolve the issue. let us know what you number were on the test as newzed said.

Uh oh...I think I'm coming down with Z Fever again...
stravi757 replied to RPMS's topic in Non Tech Board
"I've seen this car in person and really liked it. The swap was done very well and the power is respectable for a street-driven Z. Bringing up what other things he could have done is pointless." Agreed. This is my dream swap that I will eventually accomplish. I love the idea of a bmw straight 6 from an e46 in a Z. The respectable power, reliability, comfort/smoothness of a modern straight six in a daily driver. best way to modernize a Z IMO. Anyways, stop talking about it man and just do it. You already know youre not going to have any regrets about it, so youre just wasting time at this point! -
Turns out I had spare parts to fix it at home. thankyou for the response though.

Haha I would say you are right on the boarder. Did you drive the car before it was pulled? I really dont want to have gone through all this effort to put something in that is going to grind between gears. The 4 speeds do tend to shift nicer than the 5 speeds when running 30 year old used ones.

I am looking to buy a pair of motor mounts for my 280z and I noticed from pictures online that all of the mounts have different dates on the OEM NISSAN stickers. are these dates expiration dates? or dates when they were made? anyone know?

Time for poly bushings...recommendations?
stravi757 replied to wesmc's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Dont put the poly T/C rods bushings on, If you do make sure to drill holes in them first. I have seen two cars(Z and a ZX) have them snap! one of them was me. I recommend just using rubber. -
I personally am not a fanatic about SF when it comes to places to go hang out at(Good night life though). And I also am not one to look for the "tourist" things to do when I go to an area. I would recommend going All around the bay while you are there. Berkley would be worth checking out, but avoid telegraph ave. If you want to go out at night in Sf , north beach would be a good place to go.... Well there are a few places to go around, and some nice hotel bars. just avoid The Mission district and Powell St. You could also peek around oakland. Go to the Fat Lady restaurant in oakland, Its a really neat place, especially for a date, very old building decorated with many antiques, The food is very good as well. you can grab lunch dinner or a drink there, from there you could walk down a block and go to Yoshi's. They will probably have some sort os show going on that you may enjoy at night, look it up online. Or if you just wanted a quick bite in the middle of the day you could grab a sandwich from bettys in oakland. but check their hours first. Also If you are a burger fanatic like I am check out Rome Burger in SF. They are an artisan burger place, really topnotch. I highly recommend that place, Its located in A nicer part of town too(SF can get gross sometimes) get a milk shake to. An Awesome drive to go on would be through Grizzly peak(berkeley hills), the GF would appreciate it. Its a very well known local spot with a great view of berkeley, oakland, SF, the bridges etc. You can stop park and there are plenty of places to sit. you could drive from there onto Skyline blvd, Maybe make a stop athttp://www.chabotspace.org/index.htm while passing through. From there you could connect to redwood rd, this is when you are going to wish you were driving youre Z car. Its a mini track(Not legally) that goes through the hills of the bay. lots of motorcyclist go through here to drive rather spirited, no trouble from the cops either... from there you could connect onto pinehurst which will take you through...actually youwill have no idea where you are at this point. But its a beautiful road. You can stop at the school there, which I believe Is called canyon. people over there are supper friendly and let you walk on campus. great place for a mini picnic and to walk around, you will feel like you are really in nature. here is a Photo from last time I was there. Id give you more things but Im tired of typing for now, maybe ill add more later.

Hard to believe that someone building a Z car who knows the work one has to put into it would steal from another enthusiast. Thieves can even have morals, they are something entirely different, something much less than a thief. Im not sure what to call that. Stealing a car, I understand that. But from a Car enthusiast to simply build you're own car? crazy... With the parts they took it would appear they are doing a turbo swap on a 240z, which means theres probably a good chance they look at this site. Did you have to put those mags on the car or did they give them to you? pretty nice of them to even include the center caps!
