  1. I think so. I really dont care for pretty much any aftermarket seat. They look racy, Which I guess is kind of the point. I think the 944 seats sort of blend well with the rest of the of the interior. Most every other seats people throw in their Z usually dont IMO. (regardless of whether I think the seat itself looks good or not)
  2. Those look awesome. I have thought of putting 944 seats in a Z for a long time. I think its one of the only seats that would look good in a Z over stock.
  3. I have no problem getting them off once I remove the control arm. I want to be able to remove the pins while installed, and undamaged when possible.
  4. Fuel rail sounds like a good starting point. Clean the entire system. You can pull the rail, crank the engine, and you'll see if the injectors are squirting. Read this first. It should help you pinpoint your problem: http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf
  5. Looking to buy a spindle pin puller. Please PM me if you have one.
  6. First I wouldn't bother with the wideband, yes they are helpful but Not needed in your case. You said you have an 83 l28et swap, Then you mention your dry compression numbers which were good numbers for a turbo engine( I believe stock compression is 142psi). But then you showed a compression test with oil in your cylinders which jumped up to the compression of an N/A engine. Then you said you preformed a leak down test which showed 45%-60% leakage! Thats crazy high. Anything over 15% leakage generally suggests a problem that needs some attention. At this point I am convinced you have an N/A engine with excessive blowby(did you verify the leakage wasnt also coming out of the intake, exhaust, or head gasket?) If you have been driving it in this bad tune for some time now it makes sense why things have gotten progressivly worse for you. Your engine clearly needs some attention. I would fix your engine and go back to the stock turbo EFI. The 300zx set-up will just complicate things.
  7. Im interested to see them installed, and your thoughts on how the poly mounts feel compared to stock(still comfortable or considerably rougher) once you drive with them.
  8. There are some pretty cheap 280z shells in california. would probably be easier to just buy another and swap all the best parts from you're car onto one.
  9. There are rivets on the clutch disk, but no rivets on the flywheel. Sounds like you may have put the clutch disk in backwards as NewZed mentioned, pushing the springs on the clutch disk against the flywheel bolts.
  10. You are lucky you have an inch to work with. That is a lot, and it should be a breeze to get it out compared to it breaking flush with the head. I would get a grinder or dremel, and shave the stud a little on eac side so you have flat surfaces to grip on. Then I would torch the area to get things a little lose. It should come right out.
  11. You can use an Automatic ECU with a manual car, but not manual on a automatic.
  12. Just to update . Took off head and found it was cracked.
  13. Just ran leak down test. Cylinders 1-6-2-5 all read 7-8% leakage. Not bad... Cylinder 3 (plug was black, just a little bit wet) read 15% leakage. cylinder 4, 50% plus leakage.....Reason, Crack in head gasket through coolant causing fluid in radiator to bubble. Since I replaced the valve seals, I did notice the smoke was down a bit. I havent checked oil consumption since then. I suppose the rest of the smoke is burning water...Yes water not coolant. I hadn't put any coolant in yet. I do wonder why cylinder leakage is near double on #3 compared to all the other cylinders though. I still feel as if there is a blue tint to the smoke. Maybe that cylinder is still burning some oil?
  14. That is what Im am doing currently. It looks like the smoke is going down a little bit since Ive drivne it more. But I am reluctant to to take it out since the car isnt registered. not too much smoke while driving but it will build up when you let it idle. still blowing alot of visible smoke out the pipe though. I will run the leak down test and see if that tells me anything. And ill give it a couple more hard runs or run some sort of additive maybe that might be able to break the oil rings free(if that is the problem) Otherwise I do have two spare short blocks ready to drop in....i just dont want to....
  15. I have a leak down tester that should be coming in the mail tomorrow. I have added 1 quart but that didn't fill it up completely. No I have not done a wet test yet.
