  1. It hasn't peeled since the date on the threads. You can see how far it covers in the photos. It wraps around the front more than the back. I think the website that sells them, lists the dimensions.
  2. Some people recommend tuning with the AE off. I did it with the AE on. It's just another variable to juggle. You can get the VE table real close with AE off or on, using VEanalyzer. Your call. I got the car driveable "by ear" then adjusted the AE "by ear". I got it driving well while watching my AFR's and manually tuning after the drive. When I thought it was running well enough, I began VEanalyzer. That's when things really got better. I went back and forth for a long time...as a matter of fact I am still tuning. It never ends. I recently went closed loop with Autotune (MSII) and the car is self-correcting, as I drive, to match the actual AFR's to my AFR table! Right now it drives better than my factory WRX, as far as response, smoothness, power delivery, and I am getting 22mpg in mixed driving.
  3. I think prime lenses are so sharp because they have minimal glass. In theory, a pinhole lens (no glass) would be the sharpest but it's not, so not quite sure. A while back I saw a camera that focused on everything in the scene. In otherwords, the depth of field was infinite but selective. Hard to describe. After the photo was taken, any plane could be selected for focal plane. So basically, focusing at the time of the photo was not needed. Focusing was done after the photo was already in the camera.
  4. Strange. How would fuel discolor? Rust? Ruptured fuel filter? That could have spewed muck into the injector screens and clogged them all up.
  5. Mike, most of your AFR spikes are centered around throttle position moves. This is going to get better as you fine tune your AE settings. I do see a tach spike at 1302, 1324, and 1339sec. Start inching in AE enrichments, based on TPS, MAP, or mixed. I run mixed, 80/20 with MAP dominant. Get into the tuning screen for AE and move your pedal around and watch the AE bar, to get a feel for TPS threshold. Then set your AE pulswitdhs low for now. Bring them in slowly. I will post mine if you want a reference. BTW Now is a great time to start bringing your log files and msq files into MegaLogViewer and running VEanalyzer. After three iterations of VEanalyzer, the car should be running MUCH better providing you have a good AFR table. I included mine here.
  6. I think there is a link to the rubber strips in this thread somewhere. Let's check. Yup. Post #8
  7. When times change, they will be back. I have a hunch.
  8. I think EvilC spent too much time in the fence and lost some body pins. Then I rammed his car a couple of times to make sure his body came loose. It gave me an aerodynamic advantage. My car is the little one. It's a 1/8th scale Ofna MBX with an Axial .28 engine. At the very end, I came in waaay to hot in front of the camera for the left turn, locked up the front tires, and slid straight into the curb! You can hear the smack if you listen closely. The audio timing is slightly off so you get the smack sound just before the visual. LOL. I need to adjust in some more rear brake bias.
  9. Some rotors come Zinc coated. The Zinc will wear off the brake surface but keep the edges and fins from rusting. You could try spraying a high temp brake paint on the edges, hats, and fins but that doesn't always last the life of the rotors.
  10. I just did mine really cheaply, but I had some stainless sheet laying around. 3M VHB Double Sticking Tape. Budget fix.
  11. SO TRUE!! Find and old 50mm prime lens from Canon or Nikon and you will be very impressed. Especially if you are shooting with a zoom lens that was included in the "camera kit". I know I was blown away when I got my used 50mm Canon prime/macro lens. Here is a shot with the 50mm prime. Sharp as a tack...so they say. Here are full resolutions shot with the 50mm prime. http://dcerutti.smugmug.com/photos/90049108_XM9Cm-O.jpg http://dcerutti.smugmug.com/photos/90048508_xJeYF-O.jpg .
  12. Not amperage, voltage. If you were only reading 8.8 volts, the injectors will NOT fire.
  13. Check your battery voltage during cranking. If it drops too low while cranking, the injection won't fire the injectors. I think it's a 9 volt threshold during cranking if I remember right. Also make sure you didn't knock into the fusible links while you were wrenching on the plugs. Check those, and then try starting with a battery charger connected.
  14. I think they stack the washers, according to a temperature/time/planet-alignment cross reference chart, hung loosely on a door, partially blocked by a sleazy Baywatch poster, in the smoky break room, at OBX headquarters. Stack them so they are stable, and so that you get about 10-15 foot pounds of dry breakaway when the allen bolts are torqued. Those are the numbers that mine came out to be by chance, and it seems to work.
  15. I dirlled holes in the upper and lower spring perches at three places around the circle. Then I wire-tied the springs into place so they can't rattle out. My car is only lowered 1" and does not scrape the bottom unless I high-side it on something.
  16. I had to request my activation email again. It came through the second time.
  17. Thanks guys. So glad there is someone to talk to while I sit at home plunking for job listings and working on the resume. This is going to become a positive change. I know it.
  18. Probably EVILC's. lol. Welcome to the site. You will need to learn the differences between all of them. They can all have problems, and they can all be perfect. They differ so much that the problems can be unique to each year. The one common denominator is RUST. You are in the right part of the country for that though. Good luck.
  19. Thanks, LOL. I could use a little dieting. Clive no worries. Gas is still way cheaper in Jersey, so on a nice day, you can be assured that I will be making a "refueling trip" with the Z and we can do lunch. I'll get my resume together. You owe me an internship anyhow
  20. Oh yeah. Not wasting any time. I too, took all my personal stuff from the office last week. I took stuff home a little at a time to be prepared. ...Nothing worse than lugging boxes of crap around on D-Day!
  21. Just got laid off today.... now I'll have plenty of time to wax the Z for Saturday's show. This is the second time I have been laid off from the same company in 14 years. Financially we are in decent shape. We should be able to fly low for a year or so with my wifes income. At least the big dollar items on the Z are already done. I'll miss some of my coworkers but won't miss the corporate BS. My keen sense detected the layoff so well that I emailed myself at work last night, a list of impending layoff signs. I am hoping my boss goes through my emails and reads it this afternoon. Won't he be surprised that I predicted it to the day! I may take another stab at the business I started last time I got laid off. My brother runs it now, and I can make it grow by designing a larger product line. shameless plug: http://www.hvmp.com
