  1. My .02 With the engine vibration, and the radiator being secured to the rad support don't you think that might be a *tad* ridged? Seems like either your fittings or the bung on the radiator might have problems with fatigue with your setup... -AN fittings look great, but sometimes old fashioned rubber hose is better. You could always use a regular hose with -AN style clamps and a braided sleeve, no flex issues that way.
  2. +1, The amount of formatting he did is much better than the usual "How can I make my new 240zx fast!?" threads... Nacitar, there are actually some ongoing threads currently talking about air conditioning and power steering options. There are also plenty of threads concerning AC and PS to be found. As for your first goal (400hp) you've yet to mention a budget. Your goals are pretty lofty if your on a shoestring budget, so for the sake of this thread I'm going to assume that's not the case. The easiest way to 400hp is going to be just buying the GM crate engine that meets your power goals. There are other ways to 400hp, but for reliability, parts availability and conversion information you can't easilly beat the SBC or LS. There are plenty of kits, instructions and pictures of GM conversions here, so I'm not going to get detailed, its really up to you to research which options work best for your your situation. Air conditioning and heat can be easily taken care of with a vintage air set up. Again, there are people who have done it, and pictures/comments/instructions to be found on this site. Power steering is probably the least explored of all your goals. Most people are fine without it, and agree its not entirely necessary. If your going with wide rims up front, then turning at a stand still can be somewhat tough, but not a deal breaker by any means. If your dead set on it there are threads here that can guide you in the right way. I know some of them can be somewhat vague when it comes to technical details, so be prepared to do some learning along the way yourself. Just remember to post up your results (good or bad), that's how we continue to add value to this site. Good luck, and welcome!
  3. Easy way to resize, for those with no real image editing software is to open the picture in Windows image viewer, zoom in/out to an appropriate size and use a screen capture (hold ALT-Printscreen). You can then paste into MS paint, crop the image, and save (set to jpeg, not bitmap). Done! The large images can be killer when your using a smartphone...
  4. Verrrryyy Nice... I would get one (pending price of course!) That would look great with the other things I have in mind for the interior... ...Then again, I do have an affinity for fancy gadgets, and considering I have NO real electronics experience someone doing the legwork and selling a kit would be great!
  5. Turn off car, jack up the rear (with blocks up front), put transmission in neutral. With your hands, spin one of the tires/wheels: 1.) If they both turn in the same direction you've got LSD. 2.) If they turn in opposite directions you've got NON-LSD. ...The case might also have a sticker on it too.
  6. Looking for the banjo hard lines from a 280zxt automatic oil cooler adapter. Rubber lines not needed, as I will be cutting off the crimped portion anyway. If you've gotten rid of your banjo fittings, and still have these lines laying around I could really use a good deal on these... Here's a picture for the visual types... Shipping will be to 79925 Thanks in advance!
  7. He is no longer making them. Every once in a while a used one will go up for sale. If you can wait, there's a good chance of someone else producing something similar soon. ...that or you could buy rail stock and have a machine shop drill it for you.
  8. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/71837-classifieds-rules-read-before-posting/ Read this before posting anything up for sale, the admins are pretty vigilant and the forum rules are enforced. That being said, welcome to Hybridz, there's lots of good information and resources here, but be sure to check out the rules and stickies before all else!
  9. Flat black, and fun for the kids too! But seriously, Dupli-color always works well for me.
  10. What are your eventual plans for it? Nothing really wrong with 260s, just takes a little more research to find the correct parts. It's not really something that should deter you, especially if its in good condition. Finding Zs that aren't rusted out can be difficult, so finding one with manageable (I won't even say rust free) rust should be your primary decision factor.
  11. I can't say I've done it myself, but I intend to run late model BMW sidemarkers behind my ZG flares and shave the rectangular stock markers. I've only ever seen one other Z with the same thing. I think the picture was in the "White Z pictures" thread... As far as mirrors go, I'm using carbon fiber APR racing mirrors. Not too many Zs have these, but there are a few on here. Those Honda mirrors really give a much more modern look, nice work.
  12. Oven. I put my 280z tail lights in the oven at the lowest setting (think around 150°) and the adhesive softened to a consistency similar to that of bubble gum. Plastic was almost cool enough to touch (but the metal bits that were still attached were VERY hot...) I was able to pull the lenses out by hand with thin gloves, and I used a metal hook/pick to remove the left over adhesive.
  13. I've been telling people this for a while, but people still seem to have trouble sourcing reman units. I'm guessing it might have to do with the warehouses that service the individual stores dictating where they are in stock, but I've had enough people ask that when I see them at the junk yard I pull them. I don't really make any money, but I figure if I can cover the entrance fee, gas, shipping and of course what I paid for it then why not?
  14. Its not new. I recall paying over $40.00 (thats locally, no shipping) for a reman unit for my Z. New ones were considerably more... This a junkyard part that I pulled recently while I was hunting for a clean P90 and other stuff. Yard probably had four ZXs, only one of which had the earlier style master cylinder. I will email photos as soon as I get home from work. Edit: E-mail sent...
  15. I've got one, how's $35.00 shipped? I should be able to send it tomorrow or the next pending payment of course. PM me for paypal info.
  16. Larger master cylinder is the more likely reason...
  17. Are you talking about the stock tank, or a fuel cell still? Most modern tanks can handle E85, the problem lies in its cleaning properties. It will break up any sort of build up that has formed over the years and that will cause the problems. If your going to retain the stock tank I recommend you have it cleaned and re-coated professionally. If your going with a true fuel cell I would recommend a new unit intended for E85 use. EDIT: Here's some interesting reading; not exactly technical, but informative none the less. Not to mention, the GST Impreza has to be one of the baddest Subies out there! Seriously awesome engineering and craftsmenship went into that rocket! http://www.modified.com/tech/modp-0908-e85-ethanol-fuel/bosch-motorsports.html
  18. I torched it just a little, it kind of smelled weird because I had already soaked it with penetrating fluid ... The flare wrench is a must if you don't want to destroy the nuts on your lines. The metal is just too soft, and has sat for too long... I got mine at sears for $8.00 I think...? I'm sure you can find one cheaper, but its definitely cheaper than new lines either way...
  19. Yeah, removing it can be a bit of a pain. 10mm flare nut wrench, heat, and penetrating fluid helped me take it all apart. If you care about how your booster looks now is also a good time to use a wire brush bit to take off the old paint, and throw on some nice gloss black engine enamel. Looks really good when you polish up the aluminum spacer that goes between the booster and master cylinder too. Mr JDM, Those O-rings should work out fine for you. You might even get away with a random O-ring from the "mystery box" at your auto parts store...
  20. I've got a '75 2+2 Auto with an r200... Not sure the ratio, any way to tell short of cracking it open?
  21. Which setup? Tilton, Wilwood, or Black Dragon? I listed the part number for an O-ring...
