  1. BUMP from the grave It's been a few years, so perhaps somebody has an answer for this now. Doesn't make sense to post a new topic, when it already exists! I've been doing some searching, but I haven't found anything conclusive on the subject of condenser swaps (Geo Metro and Mazda 626 were referenced, but that’s all). It seems with all the small cars out nowadays, there should be some newer options other than OE. I know the original condenser is more than adequate, but I would like to have something that performs better, and doesn't look like the used and abused one I threw out. Stock replacements exist, but if I can pull something from the yard that weighs less, looks and performs better and is intended for use with R134a I might as well go that route.
  2. Funny that someone should ask this, as I've been looking for different compressor options myself... I've been looking however, at electric models which can be mounted someplace other than under the hood. THIS is what I am contemplating using. It runs off DC, unlike current hybrid (think Prius) compressors which use AC, and require a bunch of extra electronics to function. I'm still a long ways off from buying anything comfort related (Have to get the engine and body straight first) but I would like to use something like this. I'm planning on a shaved engine bay, so this gives me some options that will allow me to hide the compressor, and avoid any extra underhood clutter! EDIT: I also found THIS, and THIS. Both might be possible electric alternatives.
  3. Care to share the part numbers? Are you using the stock banjo bolts? I recall having a hard time finding banjo fittings in the factory size...
  4. I've actually got another set of hard lines that will be welded with AN fittings, only this time at the end where the factory crimped on hose connected. After polishing and plating it should look pretty snazzy. The only reason I'm doing this is to have a factory-ish appearance, but with nice braided hose. I do recall the thread size of the factory bolt being posted somewhere on HybridZ. The fittings weren't hard to find either... Edit: Found it, stock should be M18x1.5!
  5. If nothing else, we should have some modern OEM badging options coming our way!
  6. H4 is simply the designation given to the bulb to identify the size/connection type, and if it’s a dual or mono output bulb (H4s are dual, meaning the high and low beam comes from the same bulb). HID, Xenon and Halogen are all different but are easy to find in H4. HERE is a good primer to better understand the differences. Any H4 bulb should work with any H4 compatable housing, however there are plenty of arguments against using HID in a non-projector style housing. Seeing as how you've ordered a kit with a projector housing, any style bulb is a viable option.
  7. Check out BRAAP's EFI guide for information regarding what can be removed from the stock manifold.
  8. I used wire to 'stitch' the dash back together, then I filled with foam. The wire held the foam from curving up at the edges, and gave it enough rigidity to glass without any problems.
  9. +1, adapters exist (for the purpose of using T3 flanged turbos on stock DSM manifolds), but are cost prohibitive if you consider the availability of other cheap turbo options. Keep an eye on CL, deals pop up, you just need to be quick and have the $$$ ready to go. I recently came across a Holset HY35 for $200... Sold the day it was posted. I was 3 hours too late...
  10. You only need to buy an H4 HID kit to get what your after with that kit... It's not faux projector! It is a projector kit supplied with standard halogen bulbs. 'Bens1088', a member on here almost certainly has what you need.
  11. PM cockerstar, He shaved, welded and ported an N42 for me. I traded two clean N42s for it, which he may still have...
  12. Pete, Very slick looking! Can we get a picture of the carbon fiber door handle on the black cloth door? Whats the timeline for the CF handles anyhow? Also, Did you get the 2+2 door panels? Should have gotten there today.
  13. The middle of an S30 would put the engine in your lap... ...SR20DET would probably be the best documented swap that would be both lightweight, and the most centered in the car.
  14. 7" Headlight conversion kit + HALO + Google = Plenty of results If you've gone through 30 pages of stuff, then I'm sure you know 99% will be crap quality though...
  15. Stress fractures at the contact points with the clamp could be an issue...
  16. Have you tried the dealer? If you can find the part number on the microfiche you might even be able to get it from courtesy...
  17. Bumping this thread as I don't feel my questions warrant a new one... I've been looking for ways to clean up and modernize the injector and COP harnesses (I'm using 1 fast Z's COP bracket seen HERE). I'm trying to avoid split corrugated wire loom like the plague, and would like to also keep from just covering the entire harness with nylon wire sheathing. That being said, I've done some searching for modern vehicles with straight 6's that might have something adaptable, and I've come up with this from BMW: I figure I can remove the rubber boots/plugs and rewire with nylon sheathing and shrink wrap to go between the cover and plugs I need. I could then attach the harness covers to either side of the valve cover and run the wires out the back end, cleanly consolidating both harnesses. Questions: Any other vehicles that might have something better suited for this? Any obvious problems with this that I'm overlooking? Anybody do anything to clean up the harness similar to this (or different from the typical loom)? EDIT: Found THIS site where someone takes the same cover and modifies it to work with their harness... At least shows what I intend to do is doable!
  18. And it almost looks like its rusted out on the fenders and doglegs!
  19. Google a fellow named Ahmad Khodkar, it's his Z. I don't believe he's a member here.
  20. I used this battery charger. Two days may have been more than necessary, but like I said there was still a small amount of rust on the runners. Turning the manifold every few hours may have cleaned it up completely in less time, but I wasn't in a hurry either way.
  21. You know you own a Datsun when... You drive a car with an MSRP nearly 40 times that of the Datsun's... And you can't help contemplating swapping the engine into the Datto! Of course, some of you HAVE done this!
  22. Not sure if you will have enough interest, but if so I've got a pair of door panels your more than welcome to have. They are similar to the coupe door cards, just a little longer and with an extra door release (to be used by the rear passenger).
