  1. Black is usually rich and white is lean. I think you are fine on the rust orange or maybe slightly lean. It should clean up with come carb cleaner.
  2. So when is rust in the door and hatch area not "usual"???? And how about the fresh coat of pint on the battery tray?? What is that hiding???
  3. WOW huge first post...... Have you adjusted/ rebuilt the SU's? That would be a great place to start for the hesitation issues. The hood release problem has me lacking in the idea department.
  4. WOW looks great! DEMAND lots of pics! Also just a heads up you WILL have some mods on your back for spelling. I would run a grammar check BEFORE you post. Great idea and Welcome to HBZ!
  5. There is still no proof that the 240sx TB upgrade will do anything more for power. You are still restricted by the runners. I do agree that mega squirt would be a great start then you know that its wired right the first time.
  6. 10.2 is WAY too high! Or could run the l28 with the E31 and a 2mm HG for 9.5........ a little better. You would have LOTS of ping and would loose power backing off the timing. There are plenty of threads on good CR look around. A l28 are not like engines today (Honda), you can't just pick a big CR just because...... You have to prep for it! Most people use methanol injection and other things to get rid of detonation. But you would be better off with timing advance than with a slight CR bump more power in the end. Get a running engine to play around with then see where you want to go from there. And YES early Z did run with lead. There was 5% in gas till 85..... but it will not be a problem with a higher octane rating.
  7. WOW you threw out a TON of info and a very BROAD topics...... Here is where i stand. Why would you spend the money turning a L24 into a 26 when you could spend a few hundred and get a COMPLETE L28 to rebuild???? And cheep to boot! For compression just keep it around 9 or so and you should be fine with timing advance. You could run the E31 with dished pistons and be a few CR points up from the stock N head. Or get flat tops and run a turbo head there are PLENTY of options out there. Don't let someone else tell you what YOU need on YOUR car...... Good job on the searching keep it up. Welcome to the forum!
  8. It's worth what ever you are willing to pay. I think that its worth it if the condition is good and usable.
  9. WOW learn something new every day! ( never owned an auto)
  10. I think the reason that you have no answers is that it seems like you answered your own question within you post. You have to get fuel in the lines first, so change your relays/ pump to get the fuel flowing. Or try some starting fluid to see if that works....... Next as you said check spark and air. We need the results to these tests to determine where to go next. Hope all goes well and welcome to HBZ
  11. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge on it? If so can you get a reading for when it stumbles?
  12. I agree...... It has a flare on it but no nut or fitting???? I would say trace it to the other end. It hydraulic for sure but what and where are the key points here.
  13. Pull your first spark plug and look in there at the piston. When its all the way up that's TDC. You can be a little off and still be fine just make sure its on the compression stroke by taking off your oil cap. Then check your dizzy...... but I am sure you knew that. Hope that helps!
  14. Here is a quick answer that should ALWAYS be the first place to look. The SEARCH function works great! Start here in the Drive-train section or look in the V8 as well. But to get you started you SHOULD have an R200 in your ZX. Not sure what ratio due to lack of info but you can find all of this out from a quick search. But it can take what MOST V8's put down. Welcome to the forum and please start a build thread with LOTS of pics.
  15. I just realized that i typed the price wrong.... Yes he posted it for 22,000!
  16. I searched around for it I thought there was one...... My bad, MODS can this get moved??? I stand corrected
  17. I found this Z. It sure looks nice but for 2200$??? Its clean with a 5 speed and triples but I DON'T think 2200 worth........ Sounds a little desperate especially in THIS economy!
  18. WOW you shouldn't have to replace your crank...... and if you did just use the one from the turbo its the same. Just a thought but most people treat the L series as if it was an american V8 and put WAY too much into it. Lots of stress with a whole new project. Sorry to hear your bad news but with most mechanics they can only speculate what it will cost, that's why the never set it in stone!
  19. Maybe its a SCAM..... be cautious of the lack of pics (no right side or trunk shots???) and other info.
  20. Yup do a quick read of the EFI Bible. It will give you a better idea of where to start and just a heads up..... The mods don't like non-descriptive titles it helps when you give good info in the title. Welcome to the forum
  21. Just a heads up on any upcoming post that you might have. If it has nothing to do with any MECHANICAL part of a Z than it belongs on the Non-Tech boards. Don't want any mods to come in and shut down a good post for filing it incorrectly. Other than that Hope to see some build pics and welcome to the forum.
  22. I think my head is going to implode...... Thanks Blue!
  23. I 2nd that! What are your goals? If you just want a stock swap both are good choices. The RB25 will will be about 50 more ponies than the RB20, the RB25 is around 250hp stock and comes with a 5 spd. Do some searching around the RB forum find what YOU want and don't let others force feed you! Welcome to the forum! Before a mod steps in here and tell you to read the rules I would add to ask more specific questions.
  24. As far as the aerodynamics go it would actually HELP it at high speeds. This was proven with a golf ball on Myth Busters and for the weight I would think it would be about the same as painting with a good Zinc primer. That stuff is HEAVY!
  25. Yes I was just giving a list of what I would use from a Z32. Those would be the things that I "thought" would be possible to mod to a S30. Not a bolt on swap list. But I guess a little more clarification was necessary. Thanks Sorry if there was any confusion.
