Unsupported opinion that adds nothing to the OP........ The 7m is a great motor that gets a bad rap for low head stud torque. Check the Toyota section there are plenty of guys running 7m's with great results. I would say if the car is straight and set up how you like then do it! If not start with small things till the L28 swap dies and swap in the 7m.

Check all the pipes too. maybe you forgot a clamp? Or your gauge is not hooked up? Hoping you get lucky and don't have a dead turbo,

+1 on the S20. I remembered reading that, I thought ALL the police versions had S20 in them based on the 2 liter restriction, didn't know they had L24 car too. Guess I can't make assumption. edit: Looks to me like it's just by chance the two pics are together.......

You can't go wrong with any HID retrofit. 10X better than stock.

Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with getting it started but it seems to me you are picking and choosing what advice to take and what to disregard. First get rid of the fuel problem and run a remote gas can with pump and filter. (I am betting this will solve the problem) Then check your timing and vacuum lines with it running. If that wont solve the problem then you have a faulty connection somewhere check grounds and connectors. Hope you are taking this with a grain of salt I am not trying to cause any strife. Happy wrenching.

The stock turbo cam has it's pit falls i.e. lack on the mid- high RPM. From my experience a 260 cam is a better stock option. But if you are pressed for time/money just go with what you have. There are a few posts about which cam is "better" but if its just a mild build you should be fine with what ever just make sure you keep the oil setup correct for the cam (internal/ spray bar or both).

Moisture under the dizzy? Very common problem.

+1 for Nigel As far a product reviews I think we have it down pretty good. The vendors that do sell Z specific parts are usually members and care a great deal about their products. Also if I am looking for a review on "commonly" used products I stick with seller sites or Amazon ect. Great idea I just think we have it covered.

+1 for shopping around, get online prices for Sears and they will do package deals. It NEVER hurts to ask. What tools have you been accustomed to? I think it's all preference, I work with tools daily (not cheep ones) and have had to 'modify' big $ socket/wrench ect... price adds up fast when a cheepo one would have done the same thing. Weigh your options, some stuff won't matter. With that said I have a mix of Sears, S.O. and H.F. Only broke a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer due to torque.

You will have to weld in brackets/ support for the buckets. But other than that sounds like you have it covered.

Well if this was Zcar I would say bring it back to life like it left the factory........... BUT this is HYBRIDZ!!! Sooo, I say MOD it to get what you want out of it, keep the L block around for the slight chance you want to go back. Enjoy your time and car the way YOU want. Great find and Pics are a MUST!!
