  1. This is a write up on aerodynamics of the early Z. It talks about some differences as compared to later models. http://zccw.org/Tech/Body/09-97EarlyZAerodynamics.html This link has history of the Z, it might help: http://www.aboutsportcars.com/datsun1/ http://www.theautochannel.com/publications/magazines/sci/aug-sept-97/waywewere.frame I haven't read them in a while but they are good reads never-the-less. I hope that it sheds some light on the subject.
  2. The engine is about the same unless it is a turbo. But the bodies are so very different. Wieght, length, and features all differ. Probably too much to write about. What exactly do you want to know?
  3. Got my wife a nice new acustic guitar (Walden) it is all solid wood and is awesome sounding. It is there best model. A lot nicer than the Takamine that she has now. Also some PJ's and clothing, a tuner for the guitar (eletric) some mittens she wanted and new strings. Tis the season. I have no idea what I got but no one ever buys me car stuff. They just don't know what to get. I think she will be suprised because we set a budget with each other and the guitar was like 3 times that. She deserves it as I am in grad school and working full time I didn't see her much at all these last few months. I was working like 100 plus hour a week for 2 months. Thank god that is over. She is just so happy I am home. Happy holidays to all,
  4. simply enough your heater uses the heat from your engines radiator fluid. As the cars heats up the fluid is circulated throught the heater core and when you put the fan on it blows air over it transfering heat to the air. Simply run a line from your engine to the heater core. Make sure the core isn't leaking first if it hasn't had fluid in it in a while. I'm not sure from where to run the line though, can't remember. But that is how it works Im pretty sure.
  5. it says you are on a distinguished road. WTF wierd. You definately have many more posts and experience than I so that probably has a lot to do with it.
  6. my bcdd valve went bad and apon asking my shop for a replacement they told me to just bypass it alltogether. I made a solid gasket and pluged it off. The idle problem I was having went away and I passed smog fine. Don't know if that helps at all. Good luck
  7. It says "user name is off the scale". What does it mean? It is little and grey. Thanks
  8. You would spend nearly 300 bucks on the weatherstripping alone. If you bought the car and there was more than you thougth you could handle you could always part out parts and easily make back you money. 300 is really cheap and if the engine is bad just drop in a replacement nissan or sbc. For a car as fun as the Z it is worth the attempt. Good luck
  9. what!!! not fast enough yet! holy god man put wings on it and fly.
  10. I am getting a masters in Product Design. Non car related but I love my Z. I want to make things that people have direct interaction with. Personal consumerables I guess. Thanks for the nice remarks.
  11. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=833 This was a project where we had to design something for someone else strickly. I have connections in an Oncology department and my mom just went through treatment. So I designed a cart to be chairside and provide support for a patient while they are receiving Chemo. It provides personal belonging storage, I.V. pole docking (to save space and provide piece of mind your I.V. pole won't get knocked down) an adjustable arm support and built in mp3 player. I thought I'd share since I fabricated the whole model in full scale and I haven't done any body work on my car to share. All the parts were laser and hand cut than hand assembled, finished and painted. If only I could get my car into my shop. What do you all think?
  12. s12w calipers use the vented rotor setup and require a spacer. s12-8 calipers use the stock rotor and don't require a spacer.
  13. torte reform torte reform torte reform. If these idiots had to pay all the court fees that were associated to the case if they lost then I think they would think twice about suing everything. I hate laywers.
  14. this is what I found on seafoam, looks cool. http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpConsumer.htm
  15. So, what are you guys doing about a spare tire if any? I still have that colapsable tire thing that came with the car but wouldn't know if it is any good or not. What the hell kind of tire is that anyway? Is it supposed to have no air in it? I know a lot of you are using fuelcells and have gotten rid of it. I have AAA so I don't worry too much. Do other spare tire sizes fit on the small rim that the colapsable tire is on? Just wondering what you all are doing, Thanks
  16. A) The Quantum Physics powering the SmogBuster is a propriety technology. However, in simplicity, the SmogBuster is just a custom holographic disc that is able to store and project proprietary programming that affects the properties of gasoline and diesel fuel, causing it to burn cleaner, more efficient, resulting in cleaner emissions. Just a cute way to get you to buy there little sticker and support there website/cause I would bet. Or just a load of crap
  17. So they will go on the car in the next few weeks. But I have been sitting on the Modern Motorsport 4x4 package for a month or so now looking for calipers. I just got newly rebuilt calipers from ebay (s12w) zero miles on them for 100 buck with shipping. Awesome aye?!! I can't wait. Thought I would share my fortune. Can't wait to test them and let you all know. That and I'll have all new suspension on too (Tokico blues with new springs) This is my first Z and I have never driven another one too so this will be a real big change. Have a great Thanksgiving all!
  18. Holy sh*t, I guess I have really been busy the last few weeks cause I go to SFSU and had no idea that happened. I don't have wednesday classes though. Living in California (Oakland) and going to school in San Francisco is kind of wierd since I am a gun loving republican. I can't believe the nerve of some people, don't they enjoy the same rights as americans (free speech etc) Why in hell do you or would you support a regime like Palestine when living here. If it is so freaking great move your ass back there and live in crap conditions and be oppresesed by a ruling class that has all the money and power and the only thing you get is the freedom to blow up jews. They are all crazy, all of them. They should be removed from the campus and not the republican student comittee. This is just so typical of living in a highly leftist liberal area. It is getting so very old so very fast. Thanks for posting that Aux, I am that much more afraid of going back on campus. Maybe I should wear black and white.
  19. you can spray latex through any gun as far as I know, and I have sprayed latex through many guns. Just make sure everything gets real clean afterward etc. I always strip the gun down and clean real good after. An airbruch would work too but would just be a lot slower with a smaller coverage. Latex drips real easy though so make sure you can see the gloss build up so you don't over do it. A few light coats is usually best, or one light coat at first to build up some paint surface for the next coats to adhear better. Latex might chip easy off of plastic though so test it first to see how well it works. And if it is too thick thin a little with water. Good luck
  20. There was a really good post a few months back about this very topic. The conclusion was if I remember correctly that the spacers didn't increase the failure rate. Try looking for it I believe it was pretty lengthy.
  21. Yeah, as said you can run without it. It is just to the gauge. But it is nice having a working gauge. Mine was bad on my 78 when I bought it too. Enjoy, the black pearl is nice.
  22. I just bought the regular Tokico Blues from him last month and they are going in this month. It was the kit with one inch lowering springs and struts. Everything is brand new and looks great. He shipped out fast and was easy to work with.
