  1. So sorry to hear about it. That sucks. Hope the rest of the weekend is better definately!!!
  2. http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=33785&highlight= That is a link to some answers I recieved about paint options from members here. Look into the zero rust stuff. It comes in spray cans and the comparisons look great. I am buying some this week.
  3. I am sure that searching will get you a ton of hits. I just ordered the kit from Modernmotorsport for the front. It is the 300zx rotor and adapter plus pads and brake lines. From what I have heard the stock master cylinder will be good enough but some upgrade. If you do the back too then a proportioning valve is usually used to help balance everything out. I don't think the 280zx rear brakes will just swap on. Would be popular if it was easy. There are a lot of brake gurus here, me not being one of them. Search a little and then pm some of the big knowlegable guys. Good luck oh and the larger rotors (300zx) is the way to go for better braking then to just upgrade the calipers. I will be doing the swap soon enough so maybe I can help with the process then. Oh and check out this website of one of the members: http://alteredz.com/ He has an awesome site with good pictures.
  4. Looks good Peej400. So you must have the coolest parents I have ever heard of. You still in Glastonbury with the folks right? I was back east in August and was hoping your car was on the road so I might bump into it. Can't wait to move back and see it all finished up. Good work on everything.
  5. O.k. so for a while I have just been watching everyone one else do things to your cars. It's my turn for a little change. I just ordered: From EBAY new These are brand new in the box a set of 4 ( 2 HZ3012 front , and 2 HZ3013 rear ) TOKICO HP Premium BLUE SHOCKS and 4( 2 front , 2 rear ) High performance Tokico lowering springs, with a 1" inch drop, to fit 1975 to 1978 Nissan 280Z all models. Great price on those...under 4 hundred for it all and no shipping. Thanks Topless Z for the info, you rock!! Also have the 4x4 set up coming from Ross and some misc. trim parts etc. Going to be replacing my rear drum cylinders and putting new shoes and drums on the back. Who has a good source for the s12w calipers? I think that should keep me busy for a while. Any thoughts?
  6. Since you are going to be using it to create web/video pictures quality isn't so much an issue. I have a 5.3 megapixal hp that works great. It was around 400 bucks and takes great pictures. It only takes 2 minute videos so, that isn't as good for you. Probably any new didgital video cameras will sufice. The higher the pixal the better the resolution. Most come with some software for downloading to a computer, but adobe make premier which is a film editing software as well as many others for less $$. I think for 1k you should be fine. Go to circuit city.com and check out what they sell. I love the feedback area of all the products they sell. I have used that a lot even if I don't buy it from them. It gives you a good start as to what works for some people. What kind of video are you doing? Good luck, I hope I helped at all.
  7. Just a guess, but do you have an external voltage regulator? Maybe it just isn't keeping up with the demand. Or it is going? Wierd though, maybe there are power hungry gremlins living in your car.
  8. I thought going 240sx in the rear was like 300 bucks just for the brackets and stuff? Then you have to get calipers and a proportioning valve etc. What is the basic cost you guys have scene with a rear disk conversion. I thought it was a little costly that is why I figured I would just keep the drums. Thanks
  9. !st off, that Keg mobile is awesome. So much for not drinking and driving. 2ndly what the F happened to that blue Z in the pic next to it? Fire? That sucks!!
  10. Thanks. Yeah the rear brakes need attention but the front ones stop me fine now. I have been slowely been replacing the bushings too. Front struts are a couple years old so they are ok. The rear really need it and I figured since I was replacing them I would do the springs too. Best places to buy everything? Springs, struts etc? What kind do you all recomend and where to buy? Thanks as always Kyle
  11. O.k. so finaly I have a few bucks to put into the car. What do you all think and where do you recomend getting them? 1. 1" lowering stiffer springs (Tokico, msa ?) 2. rear strut inserts. (nothing fancy kyb maybe?) 3. 4x4 vented front brake package (Modernmotorsport?) s12w Calipers (junkyard or new?) 4. I need to replace my rear brake cylinders, shoes and drums (msa? and I allready have new shoes and used drums are lined up) Right now the car is basically stock with the exception of the JTR radiator. It is a 78 280z coupe and I want a new faster engine down the road. V8 maybe, but always open to suggestions. I am slowly trying to address issues that I would need to with a bigger engine now since it is my daily driver and I can't afford a swap yet. I have 800 to 1k to spend. What are your suggestions and or opinions? Thanks Sorry, I meant to post this in suspension forum.
  12. Has anyone seen Harold and Maude. The kid turned a sweet old Jag into a Jag/hearse. It looked a lot like that but grimmer. I think the z wagon looks pretty sweet though.
  13. Not bad for an afternoon at work. What version solidworks? And the wheels are pretty cool!
  14. Happy labor day indeed. What program was that anyway. Definately not solidworks or rhino aye?
  15. Really nice looking weld. I would say that if you could do that all over it would be a strong ass hoist. It really comes down to penatration though. It might be a beautiful surface weld but not penatrate the metal much. What kind of filler rod ws used if any. To get a really good weld usually the two parts are chamfered and then a rod is used to fill the gap as you run the bead. But it is definatley a clean weld. Try hitting it with a hammer too and see how strong it is.
  16. What a great styling update to the allready beautiful Daytona coupe. I can't imagine how much that car would be. $$$$$
  17. if only there was a fake flame shooting out the back of the missles. That is an awesome pic!!
  18. Please do tell. How was the fitting and the mounts. Clearance etc. Cost of engine, rough horsepower expected. It does look SWEET!!!
  19. It's ok. I don't think that the horizontal groves are working though from a design standpoint. Too much going on ie: grooves and holes. Plus the two tone material. Just a little busy. I definately like the concept though about a flush fitting cnc'ed grill. And get rid of the Z. Too kitch
  20. I get mine from the Z doctor in Richmond CA. 510-237-9645 Or amybe try the Z Barn 1800-247-2793. I don't have a motorsport auto mag around but maybe they have them too.
