I thought the 2nd column of the 1st pg of text (pg 72 on the magazine article) covered this. I believe the 2000gt was built in limited production and was priced almost twice as much as the Z, and the Supra didn't come out till close to 10yrs after the first Z came. This was also on the title page of the article: "The Datsun 240Z was the first sports car from Japan that really mattered. Â Does the Scion FR-S measure up?"

Np...Techno Toy Tuning's option is a little different. It allows you to run the Q45/Z32TT axles without adapters (they will rebuild them shorter), Q45/Z32TT hubs which are 32-spline, and Q45/Z32TT brake and e-brake components. https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/280z/complete-r200-r230-rear-end-conversion-z-car If anything breaks, you can always get replacement parts at your local junkyard.

A 1974 2+2 260Z with manual transmission has the R200 3.36 (I pulled one from the junkyard years ago). Not sure if the autos got the same for that year/model.

If your car is currently carbureted, you'll have to do the necessary changes to the tank like all other swaps that change over from carb to EFI (mod 240/260 tank, change to 75-76' 280Z tank, change to a fuel cell, etc).

Those look nice but I think they only come in 18"-20" currently (for the Apex 100 model).

If going with the STI R180 diff and Johnc's adapters, you'll need the 2006 (CLSD) or 2007 (Torsen) STI diff as they are both 3.54.

Have you tried using zag.com? I bought our car through that site...they give you prices for 3 dealerships that were pretty much guaranteed (including any accessories you add). First dealership was the cheapest but didn't have the color/options we wanted...so went to the 2nd one, had them match the price of the first one and they were able to get the one we wanted. They were surprised how we were quoted so cheap on the accessories (all weather mats, etc) but they honored it. Also, my inlaws were looking for a truck and found an 08' pathfinder at carmax...I told them to try zag.com and they were able to get a new pathfinder with the same features for the same. If anything, use the zag.com pricing as your base and try to go lower from there. Sometimes it'll have the best price, and sometimes you're able to get better pricing elsewhere.

2nd one from the left seems like a Q45 R200 to me.
